Met our needs and more. The owner left us contact details, so I’ve already messaged them and thanked them personally

  • "We had a lovely stay at Glenwyllan , beautiful house, very clean , we had everything we needed."

Paula was very accommodating and always answered any messages we sent before hand. We were left a few goodies too, thankyou. We would definitely recommend this property , not far to walk to city centre and was lovely and quiet. If you are lucky to get some sunshine it has a lovely little garden that we sat in with a glass of bubbly.

  • "A lovely house in a great location."

Brilliant to have the extra TV room/snug, our autistic son made that his own and was very happy. Lovely to have a garden too. I would highly recommend staying here with kids, there are so many brilliant activities just a short drive away!

The shared areas are excellent and have really good facilities for a larger group. Bedrooms and bathrooms are well appointed and nicely set out. Everything was in good condition and the instructions were clear and concise. Walking into Chester was pleasant and easy enough.

  • "We stayed at Glenwyllan for the weekend, 3 couples celebrating an anniversary and birthdays missed due to the pandemic."

A super house, comfortable and clean with great facilities. There was everything we needed in the kitchen, plenty of space throughout and we even managed a sit in the lovely garden. Just a 20 minute walk into Chester. We’d have loved to stay for longer. Would certainly recommend to others, so glad we found Glenwyllan.

  • "Very comfortable and nicely decorated house with well equipped kitchen- perfect for family with 4 teenagers."

First place we have stayed in with a pan big enough to boil enough pasta to make a dish for 6! Easy 15-20 min walk into centre of Chester. Quite area. Sweet little garden with table. Clear instructions for recycling etc. On street parking but we had no problems getting a space. It would have been helpful to have info on local shops, things to do etc. (there was a great book on walks in Chester though). Also the instructions for all the appliances were sent by email 24 hours after we had arrived - we'd already used the cooker & dishwasher! We could not work out how to make the heating come on, but fortunately in August this wasn't a big problem except for one day when we got particularly wet & cold. The ensuite to the main bedroom had a noisy shower & toilet which could be heard in the adjoining bedrooms, but we were just careful about the times we used it. Overall a good stay. Would consider returning to this property - it was very convenient and Chester has lots to offer: The 'Sick to Death' museum is well worth a visit, some lovely restaurants, interesting history, great riverside scene, quirky shopping, as well as a big selection of chain stores. We also enjoyed walks in the nearby Welsh hills, a fabulous day in Liverpool and a really interesting trip to Jodrell Bank observatory.

  • "Overall we had a lovely time at Glenwyllan and enjoyed exploring Chester."

The property was a great size and provided all we needed. However we felt that the cleanliness of the property was not to a good standard especially when we were told that properties are receiving deep cleans due to COVID. The fridges and freezers were dirty, pots and pans in the kitchen. The Bath was dirty so had to clean the first evening to bathe the kids. There was thick dust on all skirtings and bases of toilets and sinks.

Shame there was no off street parking or more showers upstairs with so many of us staying but we were aware of this when we booked

The holiday home is ideally located for exploring the centre of Chester and also going for picturesque walks. The owners communication was excellent and it is obvious that great care has been taken to ensure we have the best stay possible. A really enjoyable stay and would not hesitate to rebook in the future. Glenwyllen was excellent all round.

  • "The house is just wonderful, very spacious and spotlessly clean."

full of character and only a short walk to the city. we just loved it what really, REALLY needs to be done is for the bathroom to have a blind fitted. at night the window becomes clear and offers no privacy from the house next door. We put a small towel at the window for the entire length of our stay but this was the only negative point as the house is just amazing. One of the best we have stayed in

So convenient for walking into Chester which made for a relaxing holiday. The grandchildren loved Chester zoo which was 5 min away. It was nice to find somewhere the extended family could stay together. Don’t tell everyone as we would like to stay again!! The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and the place was extremely well equipped. Thank you for a lovely holiday especially in these difficult times.

Suited to a family or a group of people looking to enjoy the sights of this ancient settlement, this four-bedroom house provides gorgeous accommodation.

Enter through the front door and be immediately greeted by the original Minton tiled floor, leading you to the first room at the front of the house; the sitting room.

A feature fireplace sits centre stage alongside the Smart TV, so you can spread out on the plush sofas and log into your Netflix account to enjoy a relaxing evening in after a busy day.

Beneath the high ceilings with classic cornice coving, move to the next room for a quiet moment, designed as a media or games room, it makes for a great place to wind down, whether you find that solace in a book or a video game.

Continue your journey and find the stylish kitchen with a country farmhouse vibe thanks to the homely wooden table where the whole party can gather around for a special occasion, with a delicious home-cooked meal prepared in the amply equipped kitchen and utility room beyond containing a host of appliances.

Enjoy lunches outside in the enclosed back garden where the pups can run around on the lawn as you set up a feast on the picnic bench when Chester is enjoying some sun.

As well as the ground-floor shower room which holds a sparkling and large double shower cubicle, when you head upstairs to the first floor there is another bathroom holding an original claw foot roll-top bath dating back to around 1902 and in wonderful condition, so you can take pleasure in having a hot soak in the evening.

Also on this first floor are three bedrooms, with two attractive double rooms with vibrant feature wallpaper and a master king-size featuring a pretty brass bed frame, large bay windows overlooking the front and benefiting from an en-suite shower room as well.

The final room and completing this grand interior is the twin room on the second floor where you can pull up the blind on the velux window in the morning to flood the sunlight in to wake you up to another exciting day in this ancient city.

Begin your journey around Chester with a walk around the Roman walls, a fantastic way to see so much of the city including the beautiful River Dee, the canal and the racecourse.

Walk under the famous Eastgate Clock and hop off to wander inside the incredible Chester Cathedral and marvel at the architecture and history.

Indulge in some excellent shopping within the Grosvenor Precinct where a host of your favourite retailers are based, or take a short drive or bus journey over to Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village for discount designer stores.

A visit to Chester wouldn't be complete without a great day out at Chester Zoo, with new exhibits, rare and endangered animals, talks by Zoo Rangers and advertised feeding times, this attraction is not to be missed.

About the location

Liverpool 17 miles; Manchester 36 miles.

Chester has quite rightly been described as 'the jewel of the North-West of England'. Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the city is that within a very small area there is evidence of every period of history - from the old walls and amphitheatre of Roman times, through medieval churches, Elizabethan timber-framed townhouses and Georgian terraces, to Victorian restorations and 21st century architecture. The city has much to offer the tourist, including excellent shopping in and around the famous Tudor 'Rows' and lovely walks along the Roman Walls, beside the River Dee and through the picturesque Grosvenor Park. Explore Chester's beautiful medieval cathedral, visit Chester Racecourse or spend a day at the world renowned Chester Zoo. Further afield, the stunning Welsh mountains and coastline, the quaint market towns and villages of Cheshire and the Wirral Peninsula with its first class golf courses, are all within easy touring distance, whilst frequent rail services make Liverpool, Manchester and the North Wales coast readily accessible.
