“The racecourse apartment was our first break of 2020 due to the Coronavirus situation, and it was a delight to stay at this well located and equipped property.”
A brief telephone conversation with the owner a few days before arrival to discuss key collection put our minds at rest that all would be satisfactory. All the emailed directions and instructions were easy to understand, and we found the allocated parking space with no trouble.
Our journey was long but the traffic was kind and we arrived quite early, popped the car in the allocated place and called the owner's son to ask if we were ok to leave the car there while we explored a little. To our delight he was only a few minutes away and was able to let us in a bit early, and gave us directions to local supermarkets, which were only 5 minutes drive away.
The apartment was superb. Lift up to the first floor location, which after a long drive was very welcome. The apartment looks great on the Sykes website but exceeds all expectations once you get inside. A spacious bathroom with a big bath and heated towel rail is the first room off the lobby. Plenty of hot water always available.
Main bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed with lovely crisp bedding and both soft and firm pillows. Plenty of storage space and plugs to charge devices. We did not used the second bedroom but it too looked of high quality.
The kitchen was well equipped with as many pots and pans as anyone could possibly need, large fridge freezer, and a welcome washing machine. There is also a dish washer should you need it.
The living area was just so comfortable. Two large sofas with a plethora of cushions ensured relaxation was easy after long days out sightseeing. Side tables and light meant a nice relaxed mood could be created in the evenings. Unusually for a holiday property it has a large, high quality television which has all the usual channels plus catch up facilities. Wi-Fi is of a good speed which is essential as most attractions publish up-to-date info via their websites. A small riverside balcony provides an outside seating area.
The location could not be more perfect, situated between the River Dee and The Racecourse. Riverside walk takes you around the racecourse into Chester itself, great restaurant only 5 minutes walk away inside the course itself, supermarkets 5 minutes drive (or 15 minutes river walk) away, and access to major road routes very easy. The actual block the apartment is situated in was very quiet with very little noise from inside or out.
We loved our stay at The Racecourse Apartment and cannot recommend it highly enough.
