I can imagine it being brilliant in summer to just sit out and relax and soak up the surrounding vista.

Very idyllic and quiet. Just like we like. Wasn't best week with weather but the log burner and hot tub were ideal. Our cockapoo loved the big secure garden. Darren the owner was really helpful. We will be going back.

Property was very nice open and clean the kitchen was stunning beds were very comfortable and hot tub was unreal the garden area was very safe and secure and our dogs loved the space and freedom also you can hear the stream on a night which was lovely and relaxing only downsides for us was no washing machine with 4 kids and 2 dogs was hard and having to buy bottled water for cooking, dog water and drinking and hot drinks could do with options of single beds as our older kids didn't like sharing and could do with more storage in bedrooms but overall a great holiday home

  • "Such a beautiful, remote setting but a short drive into Chirk for all the shops, restaurants, take aways you might want."

The garden, hot tub and view are all stunning. We had a wonderful week as a family of four plus our dog. Many thanks and we would definitely recommend

  • "We loved it at Cae Iocyn."

Our dog loved running and rolling on the grass. It was great to sit outside to eat or with a cuppa or a nice cold drink. We watched Red Kites flying over and Swifts that I think next at the nearby Aquaduct (which we walked over, but I'm not keen on heights!). The hot tub is amazing. The views are gorgeous. The sounds of the birds are so peaceful. The shower is great, as is the smart TV with apps for Netflix and Prime. We wished we could stay for longer. A week just wasn't enough. We very much look forward to booking to go again.

  • "Could not ask for a better trip away, the place is incredible!"

The house is on its own, no one near by and completely enclosed by fences for your pets to run free. The perfect place to get away from the world and relax, the views are so nice. The owners are extremely kind and provide everything you need for the length you’re staying. I recommend 1000x times over!

  • "This cottage is absolutely gorgeous, the views from the lounge and hot tub are so beautiful."

The garden is huge and fully fenced so our Newfie was able to race around whilst we chilled in the hot tub. The cottage was so clean, plenty of wood for the fire if needed, the host Darren was so lovely and anything you needed or weren’t sure about he was so happy to help. I would definitely recommend staying here, some gorgeous walks around also. We will be coming back!

  • "We had a fantastic time."

What a beautiful, peaceful location. The hosts were brilliant, sending information videos for the heating and hot tub and instructions on how to find the property. When we needed their help with a poorly child they came straight away. We had a great stay and really enjoyed it. Lots of space outside for the children to play, lots around locally to visit too. We took our dog with us and wasn’t stuck for places to go, in fact there were more we wanted to do and hope to go back next year. The house was clean and well kept, one of the beds was a little lumpy but I’ve slept in worse, the other beds were great. The hot tub was amazing and lots of games to play on a night and a large tv to watch. We bought a football for the kids and they played out in the garden while we relaxed. Highly recommend!

  • "The owner Darren, made contact prior to our visit to ensure we knew exactly how to get to the cottage."

We were met by Becky who showed us around and how to work the heating (if required) hot tub etc. The property was excellent, spotlessly clean, constant hot water, comfy beds, soft towels and fully equipped kitchen. A nice touch was the unexpected welcome pack. Darren made us feel we were very welcome guests and the quiet location of the cottage ensured we had a most relaxing holiday.

About the location

CHIRK

Llangollen 5 miles.

The small border town of Chirk (Welsh spelling: Y Waun) stands on the escarpment above where the rivers Ceiriog and Dee meet, and is referred to as The Gateway to Wales. Most famous for its magnificent 14th century castle and gardens, one of many built throughout Wales by Edward I, Chirk boasts a wonderful aqueduct, designed by Thomas Telford, a selection of pleasant pubs and restaurants, convenience stores, chemist, gift shop, coffee shops, local butcher's, greengrocers, bakery, an excellent golf course and marina. The surrounding area, notably the beautiful Ceiriog Valley described by Lloyd George as “a little bit of heaven on Earth”, provides wonderful walks and cycling, including the famous Offa's Dyke Pathway, and local trout fishing. Only five miles from charming Llangollen, with its stream railway, watersports, famous Eisteddfod, Castell Dinas Bran, Valle Crucis Abbey and scenic Horseshoe Pass. Also five miles is the market town of Oswestry with its iron age hillfort, and within easy reach is the Roman walled city of Chester with its famous zoo and the medieval town of Shrewsbury, both only half an hour by train or car from Chirk. The beautiful Lake Vyrnwy and Llanrheadr waterfall are also within an hours drive. This great location has plenty to see and do for all the family!
