Nothing beats the view the cottage has. Perfect for dogs and was comfortable for our baby. Nice and clean and had everything needed to stay. Can’t wait to go back

  • "We had a lovely few days staying at Shepherds Cottage."

It's location is fantastic and we didn't use the car during our stay, enjoying walks on the Long Mynd right from the cottage gate, and the convenience of a 10 minute walk into town. The cottage is comfortable and so peaceful - just what we wanted. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the shepherds cottage."

Location couldn't be better lovely walks right on the doorstep. shops and restaurants only 10 min walk but uphill on way back. Cottage was basic but comfortable and cosy. One parking space is available outside cottage with steps down to the cottage. Definitely a must stay if you like walking. Would definitely stay again.

  • "A lovely cosy cottage in an amazing location."

The cottage was clean and we were well looked after. There is a large amount of books with information about the area including loads of walks which were very useful. Lack of WiFi meant we couldn't use the laptop we took with us, which would have been handy for photo storage, but not enough to ruin a peaceful getaway. We will be back.

Enjoyed the holiday so much already booked for next year, making it our third stay at this lovely cottage.

  • "Spectacular scenery."

Wonderful location for walking, with so many footpaths accessible from the door. We did not use the car for the whole week. Really useful to be in easy walking distance of the town too. Cottage was very comfortable and had a remarkable outlook. The absence of wi-fi was a little surprising and disappointing.

  • "Lovely, comfortable cottage with beautiful scenery."

Our dog (Murdoch) loved walking straight from the cottage door onto paths that went over the hills for miles. We love it in this beautiful part of England!

  • "My wife and I stayed at Shepherd's Cottage for four nights in February, 2020."

Before making the trip, I spoke to the owner on the 'phone, and I was impressed by his friendly and helpful nature. We were expecting the cottage to be a little cool, what with having no central heating. However, we needn't have worried as we were perfectly snug. The cottage was clean and furnished well, and enjoys views we wished we could take home with us. We even spied a fox on the hillside across from the living-room window. Can't wait to return! :)

  • "Prime location."

Lovely views from the cottage. We didn't use our car all week as cottage is central to lots of walks and only 10 mins walk to the town.

  • "Living room, bed rooms and bathroom (new) all fine."

KITCHEN AND GARDEN NOT FINE. KITCHEN (a) smell (musty/mouldy) from cupboard under sink, where plates are stored, pipes from washing machine pass through this cupboard (b) washing machine is very old - had to enter each bit of cycle in turn rather than once at start (c) smell in larder (from pipes?) (d) dirt/debris to side of washing machine (e) dog chew under heater in kitchen and (f) hot tap in sink drips if not turned tight. GARDEN (a) overgrown (b) moss on steps/patio and (c) overgrown hedging at top of steps rubs against body. We have photos for many of these issues. Lastly, storage heater instructions confusing - said to keep on at each heater whilst information in cottage said to ensure they were on before leaving. We had to turn them off as far too hot (Jul/Aug) to have on; I set reminder on my phone to turn on before I departed cottage. In short, kitchen needs some items addressed immediately (the smells), a modern washing machine is not an unreasonable ask and the garden needs attention.

  • "I have stayed in this lovely cottage before but it now has a wonderful new bathroom with shower."

It's very comfortable & 'homely' & very well-equipped. I love the fact that we can compost our waste (only seen this once before in a holiday cottage) & it's dog friendly. Stunning location above Carding Mill Valley - I never want to leave!

  • "Delightful cosy little cottage, suitable for 1-2 people."

Great views. The access steps can be difficult for the infirm and Wi-Fi would be a great benefit. It benefits from being a second home rather than a commercial let. All in all a little gem.

  • "This was our 3rd visit to Shepherds Cottage."

Its all about location. It is inside Long Mynd as you have to cross the cattle grid to reach it and it is the last property so you have open views all round. You overlook the high hills of the Mynd fron the living room kitchen and bedroom windows. The sheep and lambs walk past your gates to the property and you see them all day through the windows.12 minute walk to Church Stretton centre which is lovely but a 15 minute hike back up the hill.Good exercise. You can walk for miles from your own door.If you arrive by car it gives you good practise with your reversing skills.

Clean and tidy, maybe a small amount of decoration in the bath required. We found a few woodworm beetles in the small bedroom. We have already booked for next year.

I would certainly recommend this cottage to friends and would come again.
