  Pen y Garth is terrible The beds were made with hairs on them…dogs hairs The rooms down stairs were filthy The towels were wet the bath mats were filthy Bins were full, potato’s were sprouting six inches long, The place was stinky with dogs Sykes were informed but we were informed that they would ring back but they never We spent one night there we fully clothed on the beds instead of 3 nights…… that we paid for…£393

• "Good value for money and hardly to get accomodation now a days with four furry babies and it was a blast."

  The place was almost in the middle of the places we wanted to visit Porthmadog cricciciet etc. The owner was in good communication and kind not to charge us for the accidental breakage of the lampshade. A nice gesture to leave us couple packs of biscuits and stocks with tea and coffee tho we have brought our own.

• "Whilst on the surface the property was welcoming and there was evidence of cleaning upon arrival (wet floor) the sofas were wet, there was dog biscuits and dust by the sofa, I contacted the owner as per instruction to be advised that it was fabric spray, (only in two sections though) the heating didn’t work there was no hot water and when called as per instruction ti call immediately upon any issues as he was available 24/7 he was annoyed to be woken at 10:50."

  the bed linen was dirty, dog hairs on the inside of the covers along with skin cells so suspect wasn’t washed. He did agree to change sheets next day however we found a scrubbing sponge that suggested the bedding was only wiped down as sone hairs still remained. Whilst he was very helpful with information about the area. Directing us to local eateries when there was a problem host became hostile. We spend two nights sleeping in clothes on top of the beds. The road outside the property was closed we had not been advised prior to arrival so had to park four streets away. (Not owners fault but communicating that issue would’ve been welcomed) Floor boards uneven in dining room so whilst the table was set out lovely the crockery rattled with every step., There was kindling available for the log fire but no starter logs. (Hence requiring heating) The bed was held up by a tree stump. With screws on the floor under the bed. This property has so much potential if maintained right and cleaned thoroughly. I have used Sykes before and other companies and NEVER needed to complain. I have photographic evidence should he wish to discuss further. We stayed over because we were doing a charity event and couldn’t let the charity down, had this been a personal holiday we would not have stayed in the property.

• "Although it was not anything to do with the owner, it would have been nice to been given a heads up that there were going to be roadworks during our stay and we would have to find parking a little bit away."

  We had to message them for assistance about it. The carpet was quite old and grubby and it was wet from being cleaned, but it stayed damp for most of the stay. Same with the arms of the sofa. The place was fine and a decent base for sleeping and cooking but overall didn't feel very clean or well kept. Kitchen and living room were the cleanest parts of the house. Heating was on and came on during the night making the place very warm, couldn't open windows because of heavy roadworks. Garden was very overgrown and not really usable. It is a great location for exploring the surrounding areas but definitely could use some work and cleaning to make the stay more enjoyable.

• "Nice location in a quiet village with good facilities."

  The cottage garden was poorly maintained. Long grass and no outside garden furniture. The steep steps were very dirty and slippy. The games room had a leaking roof and smelt very damp. Needs a lot of TLC if you were spending time there. For us it was just a base as we like to get out and explore beautiful North Wales.
