  • "This apartment was in a great location."

We travelled by train, and it was a short walk to the accommodation and everything we wanted to see in town. It was a cosy apartment - a great place to stay as a family. It had everything we needed. Would highly recommend.

  • "Had a lovely stay in this house."

parking was a problem but I did see that in the description. The house was clean and comfortable but the attic room was extremely hot and needs a fan or air cooling tower. The outside space was a hit with grandchildren with the castle wall being part of the garden this, did, however mean a constant stream of walkers going by.

  • "Fantastic location and very comfortable cottage with everything we needed for a very relaxing week."

I stayed with my 12 year old and 20 year old daughters .We know the area well, and I didn’t want to have to drive much. It was lovely to be able to walk up into the wall and there are so many walks in and from the town, and loads to visit within 10-20 minutes drive. There was no parking anywhere nearby due to roadworks and the bank holiday but I didn’t mind parking by the secondary school and walking to and from the car. We know the parking situation in Conwy anyway so this was never an issue and there would have been on road parking under the arch had the road not been closed. The only issue / complaint we had was that the shared , grassy part of the garden was pretty much full of dog poo so we didn’t want to sit out there . There is a dog next door so I guess this is a difficult one to address . We had fabulous weather every day and really wanted to sit out there on the grass . Other than this, I’d definitely book this cottage again and am sad to see it’s for sale and therefore unlikely to be available next year . Many thanks .

  • "Great little terraced house in Conwy, set just inside the ancient town walls."

Perfect for us (two adults). There is one double, one single and one twin room so it would sleep 5 at max capacity. It is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Conwy, but there are a couple of take-aways and a great pub pretty much at the end of the road. The facilities are good; we would have much preferred a dishwasher instead of the washing machine, as this is supposed to be self-catering and I don't want to be washing up after every meal. We took our own cafetiere as the Sykes description did not list one, but there was both a cafetiere and a teapot in the property. We met the owners as we were leaving, they are a lovely couple and were interested to hear how we had got on in the house. The bedding is supplied and was clean and fresh - however the duvets were 10.5 tog, so in the summer months you might want to take your own summer-weight duvets. Parking: this can be a problem in Conwy but we were able to find free, on-street parking just up the road under the arch on every day (mid-June), about a 2 minute walk. For unloading/loading you can pull up immediately outside the property.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

The property was comfortable and welcoming. I struggled with the steepness of Uppergate street, and feel that this might have been mentioned in the description, rather than "a short stroll from the harbour". The one drawback was the open plan nature of the 2nd floor room, meaning that every sound travelled up there, making sleeping arrangements less than ideal. I feel that this was not made clear. There was meant to have been a torch provided, and this would have helped during the 2 hour power cut one night. As the house was spotlessly clean inside, I was surprised that I had to clean the outside windowsills and back door, which were VERY dirty, being covered in bird lime. However, we loved our stay, and the younger members of the group would be more than happy to return. Thank you.

  • "It far exceeded my expectations in every possible way, the accommodation was superb with back garden views of the castle walls itself, but the handwritten messages for parking, where to go access to the internet, you could see the couple gone to great lengths to be helpful and personal with the information, which was needed."

I will hopefully at some point go back. but the backdrop of the castle walls!!

My only criticism would be that the “shared garden” was derelict wast ground and not suitable for sitting in. There is a lovely park, however, 5 minutes walk away.

No issues at all with booking process aside from a ridiculous amount of marketing / promotional emails from Sykes after I booked. Would encourage marketing dept to have a re-think of the volume of emails sent out as they become annoying and just become a blur.

  • "A superb stay in beautiful Conwy."

The cottage was in a really great location with close proximity to everything within a short walk. The cottage was beautifully clean and modern, everything worked well. All linen was good quality, beds really comfortable. It was bigger than expected with high ceilings giving it a spacious feel. Having the parking permit with so we could park close to the cottage was brilliant. A couple of notes which would have added to our stay but only for feedback, my Mum (89) would have liked a grab handle at the top of the stairs to hold onto when descending. They are quite steep. The saucepans and frying pan would have been better to use if they were nonstick. A larger mirror in the single bedroom. Waste paper bins in the bedrooms would be useful. Despite the above, everything was superb and we would totally recommend this delightful cottage in this truly beautiful town. Thank you.

There is ample space for four adults and will easily accommodate a family of four. There was coffee, tea, sugar and fresh milk in the fridge and Welsh cakes on our arrival (thanks). Conwy is a beautiful Town which we all intend revisiting with all the amenities just a stone's throw from the cottage.

Walking distance to castle, pubs, restaurants, waterfront and shops. Bus and train service to surrounding area just 6 minute walk. The cottage itself is modern and clean. Nice kitchen (we did cook some), seating area with flat screen tv and a dining table. You must be able to use stairs since bedrooms and bathroom are on the second floor.

The property

This end-terraced cottage lies in the walls of Conwy, only a few minutes walk from the harbour and sea, being the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park.

Refurbished to a lovely standard, 22 Uppergate Street has been designed in a neutral fashion, providing three floors of beautiful living space, and a shared rear garden.

Upon entering, you will discover an open-plan living area, uplifted by natural lighting, with two comfy sofas sitting before a charming fireplace.

The dining table is situated by the window should you wish to relax here with a warm cup of tea in the morning time, and the separate kitchen is decorated in a light grey colour scheme.

Two bedrooms are located upstairs, each effectively laced in patterned bedding, with matching bedside tables, for an all-round sleek finish.

A large family bathroom also lies close by, with a twin bedroom rested on the second floor to complete the retreat's interior.

Once you have relaxed indoors, why not explore the town attractions, beginning with Conwy Castle, home to medieval military architecture?

The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October are you lucky enough to visit then.

Walk unspoilt sandy beaches, or take in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep, also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, and Surf Snowdonia.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
