  • "Lovely cottage with fantastic views over Conwy Castle."

Interesting art works and plenty of books, fiction/ non-fiction to choose from in the property. Also a variety of games. Some minor problems with tin opener, some confusion over waste bins, sharp edges on extractor fan above hob and central heating adjustment; all emailed to owner. Would definitely book again, either of the properties, depending on party size.

  • "We booked this cottage because the photos of Bronwen Cottage are beautiful - I loved the look of the interesting decor and art on the walls and the fantastic views of Conwy Castle and the river."

So we had really high expectations for the cottage and our holiday, and I’m very happy to say that they were exceeded. We had a brilliant time and thank everyone who helped make our holiday special. Bronwen cottage is lovely, beautifully and interestingly decorated but cosy, comfortable and well-equipped too. The location is brilliant - five minutes walk from Conwy town walls, close to the castle and other attractions and with estuary views from the windows. Excellent food shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Lots of comments in the visitor book were from people who were making return visits to the cottage and I can see why. It’s wonderful and we hope to be back too!

  • "Cosy cottage decorated in boho style and perfect location only 10 mins walk in to centre of Conwy."

Only gripe is smoke alarm going off at 1.30 AM and owner had not supplied any spare batteries. The instructions did not deal with this happening but said system was hardwired and you could not stop it sounding. We resorted to driving around looking for 24 hour garages. Owner could not be contacted and we only spoke next morning when he said he would be round later. He did not show. We disabled alarm which then left us without its services for rest of holiday. Provisions were basic compared to most other cottages we have stopped in. That aside we enjoyed our stay.

  • "Generally the property is nice and location excellent."

Bed comfortable and showers excellent. However, we were very disappointed to find only 3 mis-matched stemmed glasses. One a cocktail bowl glass, one useable wine glass and one cracked wine glass. The property is supposed to sleep 4, and no wine glasses or flutes (which are cheap enough at Poundland) is not acceptable. One lamp in the lounge did not work, only one bulb on the cooker hood working and the "white" towels were greyer than my floor cloths. Complacency setting in? I hope not because the cottage is nice and it is obvious that a great deal of original forethought had gone into it originally.

It is well equipped with a very good standard of utensils. We loved the view over Conwy Castle and the river and enjoyed sitting (inside) enjoying it. Conwy is a good centre to enjoy the many attractions of North Wales and close to Llandudno for all your shopping requirements. We would recommend booking restaurants in advance especially for Saturday night. They were all fully booked and this was February. It was easier during the week. The Queen's Head is a very good pub and only 10 minutes away.

5/10 minute walk into Conwy with access to the individual shops, cafes and restaurants. 10 minutes drive to Llandudno junction with cinemas, supermarkets and fuel. Plus the North Coast of Wales and Angelsey all within an 30 minutes/ hour. Bronwen Cottage is your typical cottage, collection of furniture, paintings and books. All required utensils and spacious living. Upstairs double bed isn't particularly comfortable and tight down side of bed but cosy. Wonderful on every level. Highly recommend this cottage.

    00. This is ridiculous as basically the majority of your first day is lost when it comes to a check in time of 16.00pm. I also argue that my contract is with Sykes Cottages who stipulate the check in time is 15.00 (which is bad enough), how can the owner then stipulate a different time. This is not correct and contradicts the arrangement with Sykes Cottages. Why is an extra hour required and it is not acceptable as it is reducing further the time I have booked for the cottage. The cottage has to be vacated by 10.00am so it does not necessitate 6 hours to clean and if there is more than one unit to clean in this period then more resource should be made available, the customer should not be penalised.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Snowdonia National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
