  • "This was a very snug little cottage set very close to the Castle."

Had a parking space right next to it which meant we could leave the car and walk into the town for dinner. Had plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants on the doorstep. Easy to get to Llandudno either by car or bus and highly recommend the tram and the cable car one way as it finishes near to Llandudno pier. We had a fabulous three nights.

  • "The location of this cottage is perfect and it was lovely to look out the back of the property onto the medieval walls of the town."

The beds were comfy and we all slept very well. The kitchen facilities are limited due to the size of the kitchen, but adequate for basic fare and due to the good number of restaurants within 5 minutes walk, we didn't really need to cook much. Very useful to have a parking space, but with a choice of two train stations within walking distance, bus stops close by and plenty to see in Conwy itself, we didn't need to use the car half the time.

  • "Super location literally minutes from everything."

Castle, visitors centre and tourist information on the doorstep. Cottage small but beautifully formed. Bottle of wine, chocolates and roses were a lovely and welcome touch, as was being stocked up on milk, tea and coffee. The cottage was clean and the neighbours friendly. I think the addition of coasters for your cups and dustpan and brush would be handy but other than that it was fantastic. Thank you!

  • "The cottage is small but perfectly formed."

The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was clean and well laid out. The cottage can be a little noisy as it’s straight off the road but its position in conwy is perfect especially with allocated parking. The only thing I would note is the fridge does not have an ice box section and there is no freezer so we couldn’t freeze our ice packs for keeping packed lunches cool. Overall, a perfect spot for visiting both the coast and countryside of north Wales. We would definitely stay again !

Frank the owner left us prosecco, chocolates, milk and Christmas crackers to pull on Christmas Day. Such a lovely thing to do. We knew by previous reviews that the TV was small so we knew what to expect. The cottage itself was like home from home and the location was fantastic. Right next to the train station and bus stops. And a very short walk to the shops, pubs and restaurants. This is an ideal place to stay and we will definitely return.

No mention of being sandwiched in between road and railway. Would imagine it would be noisy in summer with windows open. I've never seen such a small TV! The cottage was lovely and clean and despite the above I would stay there again, but not in summer

Very quiet with little road noise at night. Church bells lovely and even unobtrusive in the night! Beds and linen very clean and comfortable. Shower very good. Toilet seats need replacement. Lounge / Diner / Kitchen too cramped for 4 adults. Seating adequate and TV tiny. WiFi excellent. No freezer compartment in fridge. No first aid box. Parking and access great. Heating fine. No facility to store rubbish outside.

It is compact but has everything you need plus outside space and parking which is a huge bonus in the old town. We loved the views from the top rooms over the town walls (not the section people walk past on!) and countryside beyond. The cottage was very clean, the beds comfy and the shower powerful. Step outside your front door and everything in Conwy is within a few minutes walk including a wonderful cheese shop, bakery, cafes and the harbour. Perfect.

Book to stay here and be within easy reach of many other fabulous locations such as Llandudno, Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, Bangor and even Anglesey.

Enter straight from the street into the open-plan living space to be greeted with a homely, cottage feel.

Offering a great base for your exploring, you can delight in the classic decor with touches such as the Belfast sink in the kitchen area, amidst all the necessary appliances you need.

Enjoy a quick breakfast at the table, which does open into a full sized dining table, before heading out for the day to take in the historical sights practically on your doorstep, before returning to Millgate Cottage to prepare for an evening out trying the local cuisine.

Stairs will lead you up to the first floor which is home to a bright and cheerful twin room, overlooking the Conwy walls.

A cloakroom with a basin and WC lies on this floor too, while up on the second floor you can feel refreshed with a shower in the bathroom, while taking in gorgeous views of the greenery beyond the town walls.

Step out of the bathroom and straight into the second-floor double bedroom area, and make yourself at home.

Down below on the ground floor you can enjoy an evening drink while deciding where to dine in the small rear courtyard, complete with some chairs and a bistro table.

Next door to Millgate Cottage is the Conwy Visitor Centre, providing a great starting point for discovering what to see and do in the town.

Just a short walk will bring you to the famous Conwy Castle, built between 1283 and 1287, it is wonderfully preserved and offers an insight into medieval military architecture.

Take a peek inside the Smallest House in Great Britain on the harbour front, before tucking into some tasty fish and chips as you watch the boats come and go.

Some fine-dining favourites to visit during your trip include Watson's Bistro on Chapel Street, family-run with French-inspired cuisine, or try Castle Hotel in the town centre, once an early 19th-century coaching inn, it has both a casual gastro-pub in Dawson's Bar and Snug, or fine-dining in the Shakespeare Restaurant.

About the location

CONWY

Llandudno 5 miles; Betws-y-Coed 16 miles.

Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is without doubt world famous for its historical and architectural heritage, yet at the heart of the town lies a hub of bustling activity. Alongside its ancient festivals and fairs, musical recitals, galleries and historical attractions, there is an array of specialist shops, restaurants and hotels. Built for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, Master James of St George's design, Conwy Castle remains one of the most outstanding achievements of medieval military architecture. The distinctive, elongated shape, with its two barbicans, eight massive towers and a great bow-shaped hall was perhaps determined by the narrow rocky outcrop on which the castle stands. The town is proud of its historic traditions and celebrates its past by retaining many of these in its annual festivals, events and fairs, including the Honey fair, Seed fair and Gwledd Conwy Feast in October, along with other musical events throughout the year. Conwy is the perfect base for exploring the dramatic Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, walking unspoilt sandy beaches, or taking in the wonderful scenery on your doorstep. Also within reach are the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which has the longest zip wire in Europe, and Surf Snowdonia is just six miles away.
