  • "Perfect holiday home from home for whole of the family, 3 generations stayed at property and it suited all."

Bedrooms and bathrooms well appointed and plenty of storage for belongings, lounge and dining areas were very comfortable, never before been to holiday accommodation where there was so much kitchen equipment available , Fantastic when cooking for 10 people and all equipment in good/clean working order. Although it was beginning of November and there was a weather warning for high winds and rain, the property had log burner but we didn't need to light a fire as the central heating was more than enough to heat the property ( in fact we turned it down). The hot tub was devine, surrounding scenery beautiful, We also had 3 dogs, the garden area is well enclosed and large enough that they could have a run around. The children loved watching the owner Angie in the morning walking her ponies back into their fields . The family are planning when next all off at same time to book and re visit Horseshoe Cottage and Beautiful Abersoch Many thanks to owners Angie and Derek.

  • "We stayed at horseshoe cottage for a 60th birthday."

There were 10 of us and the space was more than ample for us all. Very clean and there was lots of kitchen equipment. Plenty of towels, bath mats and hand towels. Hot tub was lovely and hot and was under a pergola which was necessary as the weather was not great whilst we were there. There was tea, coffee, and washing up liquid which is a nice touch if you forget and hand-wash in all bathrooms. Bedrooms were a good size. Parking for 4 cars. 4 bathrooms which was great for a big group. A large table in kitchen for everyone to sit round for meals. We were provided with a cot and high chair for my Niece which were both in good condition. And also a baby gate on the upstairs bedroom. The kids loved the garden and hot tub and there were lots of board games provided. Tv had netflix and YouTube and Internet connection was fast. The kids were never bored. The owners were very helpful and friendly. They allowed the kids to feed the ponies and alpacas at feeding time. You are only 1 mile away from abersoch and there are lots of restaurants and a spar supermarket which stocks most things you would need. Abersoch is beautiful and we would love to return in the summer to appreciate it fully in the nice weather and would certainly stay in horseshoe cottage again. Thankyou for a lovely stay :-)

  • "This cottage is in a lovely part of Wales with walks to numerous beaches."

The local pub, the Sun gave us a warm welcome with an open fire at the end of a 4 mile circular walk to Helsmouth (a very impressive vista). There are a variety of places for days out but Port Meirion was our favourite. Having been to a few Sykes cottages, while this one was well equipped and the owners really accommodating, being a little older, we came home with back ache as the mattresses were not up to Sykes normal standards. The owners kindly allowed our granddaughter to go and see their beautiful Shetland ponies, which she really enjoyed. The garden is fully enclosed for dogs which was great but the fence was quite low for our Staffie who likes to go on adventures - however he loved running and playing in the garden. The hot tub was well used and well maintained. All in all an excellent place to chill together as a family.

  • "Horseshoe Cottage was comfortable."

Well presented and well positioned to visit the lovely area. The Landlord, Derek Howarth, was attentive and resolved minor issues immediately. With good weather we had an enjoyable holiday and in that sense our expectations were met. The holiday was booked in 2019 for May 2020. Because of Covid issues we initially wanted to cancel the booking but could find no way of contacting Sykes. Eventually contact was made with us by Sykes who offered a transfer to 2021. When this was agreed, rather than transferring the deposit, Sykes then took the total balance from our account without our agreement. Our complaints on this were either ignored or met with a blank wall. Several emails and letters were sent even to the Managing Director, all without response. We would happily use Horseshoe Cottage again, We will never use Sykes.

  • "Cottage location is perfect, 35 mins walk to the beach on the narrow winding lanes."

We walked most days with the dogs to the wonderful beach at Hell's Mouth which were pretty much deserted. The Sun Inn is ideally located for a pint or lunch on the way back which had a nice beer garden where dogs are welcome. The cottage overlooks fields and hills and is open plan which allowed room for our large dog. The facilities within the cottage are good. There were only 6 of us staying here. The dining table would comfortably seat 8 and there was loads of crockery for that many too. We cooked everyday, plenty of pans and utensils. We took our own BBQ so didn't use the one at the cottage but there is a large one there. All the little extras were in the kitchen too and there is a good sized fridge freezer. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and well enough equipped for a week. There were a couple of hairdryers in the cottage too. My daughter found the loft room very warm so maybe a fan would be a good addition in the summer months? The hot tub was used everyday and was a wonderful addition. Derek came everyday and serviced it. The garden is a good size and would allow for games if taking children. The Alpacas were in view from the garden and we also got to feed them which was really nice. Overall we had a great week Note:During our stay there was work going on to develop the site so we found it was quite busy with workmen and heavy plant equipment so sitting out was not very private and was noisy during the working day (8-4) The owner did apologise for this.

The property

This beautifully appointed detached barn conversion is located in the grounds of the owner's own 16th century home, complete with their herd of alpacas and surrounded by lovely countryside.

It rests on the outskirts of the picturesque hamlet of Llangian, less than two miles from the seaside village of Abersoch with its wonderful sandy beaches.

This stunning property is perfect for friends and family holidays and is the ideal base for exploring the area.

Horseshoe Cottage is finished to a high standard throughout with many fine quality features including light oak woodwork, ledge and brace doors and engineered oak flooring.

The sense of space is immediately apparent when you enter the beautiful open-plan living accommodation with double height ceiling and stylish lighting.

Sit and relax and watch your favourite family movie and on those chillier evenings the warming woodburner is a great addition.

The kitchen area is well-equipped and has granite worktops and an island unit, the chef in the family will just love it!

And the dining area provides a comfortable and relaxed informal setting to enjoy a family meal.

The cottage has five bedrooms, two benefit from en-suite facilities, whilst the remaining three are serviced by a master bathroom and a shower room.

If that’s not enough, outside is a lovely lawned garden area with lovely countryside scenery and a large decked area provides seating where you can sit and enjoy a drink and dine alfresco, and for the ultimate indulgence the hot tub is the perfect place to relax and unwind, or perhaps stargaze into the unspoilt night sky, reminisce and re-live memories of the day's events.

And for something completely different the owners have a small herd of alpacas and will be happy to arrange some alpaca trekking for a separate charge during your stay, the children will love it!

The hamlet of Llangian is nestled at the foot of a steep hill below Mynytho, about a mile from the beach at Porth Neigwl (Hell's Mouth).

The popular tourist resort of Abersoch is less than two miles away, yet Llangian retains it's peaceful atmosphere.

With Abersoch being so close, you are ideally situated to enjoy the Llyn Peninsula's miles of scenic coastline, excellent cycling and walks from the door.

There is sea and coarse fishing with boat trips to Bardsey Island and day trips into Snowdonia National Park.

Just six miles away is the market town of Pwllheli, which offers more shops, pubs, restaurants, a marina and two beaches.

Also within easy reach is the town of Criccieth with its castle and beach, and beyond that the famous Portmeirion village and gardens which are well worth a visit, along with the numerous delights of the Snowdonia National Park which can all be easily reached.

Horseshoe Cottage provides the perfect base for a family holiday or short break all-year-round.

About the location

ABERSOCH

Pwllheli 6 miles.

The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
