Well equipped, clean and very comfortable. Check in was easy - the keys were in a key safe. The only negative was the check in and out times - we weren't allowed in until 6pm on the Friday, and had to be out by 9.30am on the Monday. As it was we had a very long journey each way so didn't affect us too much, but would have been frustrating (and we wouldn't have booked the property) if we'd had less of a journey to make. But otherwise, a wonderful break. Reviewed by AlisonMay 2022 "Thank you so much for sharing your gorgeous house ." Beautifully decorated , comfy beds , comfy sofas , real home from home with everything we could possibly need . The views From the house are fantastic especially from the top floor . I loved going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the sea . Also the house is in a perfect spot for exploring Snowdonia and the lyn peninsula. I really didn’t want to leave to come home . We will definitely be back . Thankyou . Reviewed by AlisonApr 2022 "Super holiday house everything you ever need ideally placed for seeing that Part of Wales." Extra thought put into this house to make it so lovely for a holiday stay….. blankets, soft towels, fantastic quality pillows. The only criticism we could have was the WIFI. It was poor and sometimes unavailable. Reviewed by LisaOct 2021 "A home from home with a view to die for!" ! Couple of very, very minor niggles ( leaky kettle) but we know the house well and love it particularly the location but mostly because the unbroken sea views Reviewed by KevinOct 2021 "The location and premises was super." However great disappointment regarding arrival time being from 18.00 hrs, and will not accept the covid reason what so ever, shame on you. Also to request the clients to stripped the beds upon leaving, yet again Sykes stating due to covid reason, shame on you Reviewed by MarieSep 2021 "Beautiful house, lots of thoughtful touches." Perfectly positioned in a lovely town, great views, very clean, furnished in a pretty high spec way, all making an excellent stay. Thank you. It's a beautiful home with everything provided that you need while away from your own home. The one draw back I could see would be the lack of outdoor space in the summer months. You can walk across the road to the beach but the beach right in front of the house isn't dog friendly so you'd have to walk a little way down the street to get to the dog friendly beach. It would have been nice to be able to sit outside at the house or on a balcony but alas there wasn't either space. All in all, we absolutely loved the space though and walking up and down three flights to stairs many times a day kept us fit. The views from all the sea-facing windows are amazing but particularly the third floor massive window looking down at the sea and beach. Great for people watching in the evening! The house is lovely was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The furnishings are high and and looked brand new Spacious yet homely on three levels it is a really calm house in a location just below the castle. However by far the best feature is the view. The house fronts the sea separated only by a road and stands high above a pebble beach. The house’s main bedroom overlooks this but on the third floor is a further sitting area with a panoramic picture window overlooking the same south facing view. Wonderful, even during the wind and rain you can spend hours just watching the sea crash ashore We liked it a lot Worth noting that there are quite a few stairs in the house and those to the top floor are quite steep but that is a tiny quibble Reviewed by KevinOct 2019 "We really enjoyed our stay at Captain’s Rest." We were a family of 6, four adults and two children and we was very comfortable. The house was lovely and clean and very spacious. The furnishings and decor was lovely. Despite being the summer holidays we were able to park two cars outside with no issues. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and we cooked there most nights. We also enjoyed a BBQ on the beach. The only small downside was the WIFI only worked if you sat at the dining table, there was a signal booster extension which we connected to, but although the signal was good from it, we were not able to use the internet from it. Overall we had an amazing time, and I have recommended already to family and friends. We definitely want to come back again! The weather was good, it was easy to access north Wales and there was plenty to do in Criccieth. We even saw dolphins right outside the house. Couldn’t believe how close to the shore they came Reviewed by SamanthaJul 2019 "A beautiful property, extremely comfortable and very well equipped." Fabulous views over Criccieth beach and castle. Great location for all amenities. Reviewed by DaniellJun 2019 "We booked the whole house but not all the beds were made, the kitchen and utensils were not clean." There was no welcome pack and no toilet paper at all. White hand towels were all stained. The ground floor has a strong smell of damp, the lady next door confirmed that hers was as bad but there is no mention of this is the particulars. Despite several phone calls and requests that someone from Menai or Sykes view the property, whether we were in or out, no one did except to leave a cake on the doorstep. We were offered a maximum refund of £55 which was grudgingly accepted, After years of self catering abroad and at home this is the first time we have had to complain. Thank you for your review we appreciate your feedback and take all comments very seriously. I am sorry you did not feel Menai Holidays did enough to help you. Sadly our offer to send the housekeeper back was declined. We inspect all of our cottages to ensure they meet our standards. Fantastic location and views. Nov 2017 "Superb coastal house with a homely feel." We stayed at the end of the holiday season by which time the house looked a little jaded with walls scuffed and in need of a lick of paint and freshen up. A lot of cobwebs around light fittings & dirty bedroom doors. Not the standard of cleanliness I have come to expect from 'Menai' from several other bookings. Absolutely no other complaints as the house is in a fabulous location stocked with all a family needs for a great holiday. Alison EvansOct 2017 "Loved the house and location, very high standard."
