  • "A lovely bungalow in a great location for Criccieth and also Snowdonia National Park and other coastal towns in North Wales."

The private garden was a great facility and the bathroom was lovely with a good shower. We loved the airy feel to the bungalow and would not hesitate to visit again. Criccieth has everything you need in a holiday destination with the town, sea front and castle all in walking distance to the holiday home. The advantage of the driveway for parking is a big plus too. A lovely stay - thank you!

  • "Lovely bungalow, very nicely kept."

The interior design is so calming and cosy. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were just the right size. The kitchen was well equipped to cater for a family of four. We loved the garden, it was great to sit out and enjoy a morning coffee and our doggy like to have a morning run around there too. The location of the bungalow is just perfect with kids, with the playground and the beach in walking distance. Our kids also loved to take the short cut to the high street to get fish&chips. Great holiday, we would love to come back another year.

  • "We had a great holiday here."

The bungalow is clean, comfortable, very well equipped and in a great location. We liked that the gardens back and front are very private. It’s also very close to the castle and the beach. Also the location is within easy reach of Porthmadog and Portmeirion. We spent the whole day at Portmeirion which was fabulous and visited Blackrock Sands on the way back. This is our second holiday in Criccieth and we fell in love with the place. We would definitely stay at Garrag Wen again.

  • "Very nicely decorated bungalow."

Clean and confortable. Very quiet location and so near to the castle and beach. Ideal for coastal walks. On the down side there were no curtains on the lounge window, only blinds which when the sun was shinning made it difficult to view a television program which for us happened to be the coronation. There was only 1 toilet roll left aswell which seemed poor but that is only a minor point. We would definitely book again and recommend to friends with no hesitation at all.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd stay at Garreg wen."

The property is so much better since the bathroom has been refurbished and the shower is now brilliant. The back garden is well enclosed and our dog enjoyed being able to run across its width. Criccieth is a delight with great walks, lovely countryside and delicious Cadwaladers icecream. Looking forward to our 3rd stay! Two minor issues, we could not get the cooker grill to heat up and the microwave is now very rusty inside. Hence the drop in cleanliness and maintenance scores.

  • "The bungalow is in a superb location with amenities in Criccieth within easy walking distance, including the castle and coastal path."

A small Spar shop is available at the petrol station which was well stocked. The property is generally well equipped, warm and comfortable and we appreciated the Welsh cakes and milk on arrival. All the basics are provided e.g. toilet rolls, tea, coffee, washing up liquid, tea towels which makes things very easy, and the kitchen has sufficient equipment to enable you to cook simple meals A minor negative is the bathroom, which is in need of some redecoration, but is clean and perfectly functional. Overall we had a great holiday and would be happy to visit again.

  • "A lovely bungalow in an ideal position for Criccieth and all it has to offer."

On closer inspection the bungalow could probably do with a bit of a clean-up here and there. The outdoor back light wasn't working - so was a bit awkward at night-time to see anything at all in the garden. Part of one of the outdoor waste pipes continually ended up on the floor in the garden, (and if I recollect - was the same the previous year when we came! ) I have put these comments in the visitors book in the bungalow. On the whole we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "Really enjoyed my stay here."

It's a lovely quiet neighbourhood and there's the added bonus of very quick foot-access to the rest of the village. I was particularly pleased to be able to walk to the railway station in about 3 mins, which really helped me with getting to and from my coastal walk adventures! It's a cosy, warm little house and would definitely recommend it for singles/couples/young families. Thank you!

  • "Very much enjoyed our stay."

Carreg Wen is well equipped and in a very convenient position. We felt that the bathroom was not as clean as we would have liked and could do with a refurb. Otherwise the bungalow was great and in particular the heating was very fast in warming up once we had mastered the smart thermostat which kept setting the temperature back to 12 c twice per day.

  • "The bungalow was warm, bright, clean, comfortable and in a good location."

Previous reviews had mentioned a lack of cutlery, crockery, glasses etc but this had been addressed by the owner before our stay. Perhaps now just the addition of a larger pan, big enough to cook pasta in. If we were to holiday in the Criccieth area in the future we would happily return to Garreg Wen.

  • "A lovely clean property that was well decorated with beach and coastal themes."

The WiFi was adequate for catchup on the Smart tv. The location of the property near to the promenade was excellent, and the nearby lane up to the station and the High Street made for an easy stroll to explore. The Cadwalader coffee and ice cream shop in the village is a must to visit. We enjoyed Gwyn’s artwork especially the painting near the tv. Well done Gwyn.

  • "Its a really nice bungalow and nicely decorated, warm and a nice open plan living space."

My only criticism would be there was not enough cups, glasses etc really and this could be easily rectified cheaply. My other would be dog hairs. It was clean, and I suppose being pet friendly its going to happen and i should have thought about this before booking, but we wouldn't stay again because of it being pet friendly. So if you have a pet its a great place and great location... but if you don't have pets and you have a child I would not stay again. But everything else was lovely.

Will definitely be booking Garreg Wen again two minutes walk to beach and can cut through park at the back for high street train station and buses etc Tesco in Porthmadog and Asda in Pwhelli but garage open till 9pm with shop in walking distance to cottage over hump bridge and turn right

  • "Having stayed at this property 3 times, I can say the property is of really good quality and in an excellent location."

The biggest and most disappointing issue is the quality of mattresses on the beds. One of the most important things for accommodation is a comfortable bed sadly the beds are a big let down. I have rebooked for next year as the house itself is excellent as is Criccieth but I’m hoping the bed issue will be resolved or it may very well be my last visit.

Many thanks for your feedback. We have taken onboard your comments about the mattresses and have replaced them with new ones. We thank you for rebooking again for next year and hope you will find the beds to be more comfortable. Property Owner

  • "Excellent property in a fantastic location."

All attractions of Criccieth within walking distance. The property is clean bright and fresh with a nice enclosed rear garden. The only disappointment is the mattresses on all the beds are of very poor quality and very soft. I have mentioned this before as we have been before and have made another two bookings for the same property. Would love to think this could be addressed as other people have made the same comment on their review.

  • "Garreg Wen was a great holiday home for us."

We've been to Criccieth 3 times now with our young children and Penaber is a good base, and this bungalow was perfect with its enclosed garden and lots of parking. But the beds were too soft! We just couldn't get a good night's sleep on them, far too uncomfortable. This would put me off returning as we were all so tired by the end of the week. Also the shower was stuck to the hottest setting so we couldn't shower the children. I loved the little sitting area out the front, surrounded by hydrangeas - a lovely place to sit and catch the sun when the kids had gone to bed!

Location is excellent for all local amenities. The property is very clean, comfortable, bright and fresh. If there was a negative it would be soft bed mattress’s. Upon entering the property, you will find yourself in a hallway, with ample space for hanging up coats and tidying shoes.

Opposite the hall is a clean and tidy kitchen overlooking the back garden, a lovely outlook when preparing those hearty meals for the whole family.

The kitchen area leads into the living/dining room – a great social space to spend the evening, featuring neutral décor with subtle hints of a nautical theme, showcasing art created by the owner themselves.

Patio doors lead out from the living area on to a small patio at the front of the property with bistro table and chairs.

Further along the hallway there are three bright bedrooms; one double, a twin and a single, allowing for flexible sleeping arrangements, followed by a family bathroom, hosting walk-in shower.

At the back of the property is a private garden with table and chairs, perfect for some alfresco dining or a rewarding beverage on return from a walk along the coast.
