  • "Absolutely beautiful position with panoramic sea views."

Nice and clean and well equipped, and good WiFi. Now for the negatives, the bed was so hard I have never slept on such an uncomfortable bed, and the TV is not good, it uses analogue signal which is unwatchable. That said I would stay again, just take my own blow up mattress and tablet.

  • "Firstly, the flat was amazing, it was clean, directly opposite the beach with amazing sea views and exactly as advertised on your site."

As mentioned in previous reviews, the owners left milk, Welsh cakes and tea, coffee, and sugar for when we arrived at the property. However, we didn’t use any of the tea, coffee or sugar as it was in unlabelled jars and who knows how long it was there, or who else had come into contact with it - a couple of individual sachets as you get in hotels would have been much more welcome. There was plenty of crockery and cooking items for us ( we wash up and don’t use a dishwasher) it was really well stocked and everything matched which was really nice. There was even an iron and ironing board, and a first aid kit. Other ‘negatives’ that just took the slight shine off of the otherwise wonderful property were: * the bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have ever slept on, the mattress actually caused pain to lay on it was so hard - invest in a slightly better quality mattress or get a decent memory foam topper! * two bath towels (not large bath sheets) and one hand towel is not enough for two people for a week. * as you are putting milk in the property, you know someone will be there later that day - switch the hot water on so we can have a shower after an 8 hour journey. * the light in the hallway desperately needs the sensors adjusting - it doesn’t come on when you come into the flat, but does when you are entering or leaving the bedroom, not very helpful when one of you needs the loo frequently during the night!

  • "Beautiful position, some of the best views you could wish for."

Well-equipped, comfortable apartment (basic but adequate), and useful to have the laundry facilities. Parking is easy. TV was disappointing - not "smart" as advertised - and needs an upgrade. Cleaners were very helpful in arranging fresh linen for our second week. Plug in washbasin needs replacing; the shower was good but did not drain well. A bit more guidance on adjusting the fridge temperature and switching on hot water for the shower would have been helpful in the information pack. Otherwise the apartment was just what we wanted and we have already booked for next year!

Not a good environmental approach. Unless you are 7ft the kitchen cupboards are inaccessible with no way of reaching the contents except standing on a chair, hardly safe. The location is superb and the bed extremely comfortable.

Everything was spotless and the bed was very comfy. Thank you very much for the milk and Welsh cakes..a lovely welcoming addition.. The only issues were: The heated towel rail didn't work in the bathroom and we had to dry towels in front of the radiator in the living area. There were two of us and the shower became very cold towards the end of the 2nd person's shower as if the hot water tank had emptied. We don't tend to linger too long in showers either... An extra small towel would have been useful to dry hair with. We had a bath towel each but only one small towel between us.

  • "The property was as described and we were pleased with it."

There was loud music until 1am on our first night (sat) and last night (fri) that prevented us from sleeping. This was either from downstairs or next door but we could not be certain. I called Menai cottages after the first night for advice on what to do and said they would see but did not get back to us. I would not stay there again if this noise level was there. A shame as the property was great.

The blind moves when they are down and it is very draughty. The handbook states that on leaving the laundry should be placed in the blue lauundry bags. There were no bags. There is a noise coming from the ventilation flap for the cooker hood when the wind is blowing. The caretaker was informed but he couldn't do anything about it. The windows in the lounge have not been cleaned properly. The top windows are very greasy. Otherwise - a lovely apartment and wonderful sea views.

Warm and cosy. Splendid views through panoramic windows both in the bedroom and the lounge. Parking on the road was no problem in mid October. It may be busier in the height of the season. Negatives: As others have previously reported, the bed is very hard! We found it uncomfortable, even with a mattress topper. I experienced some difficulty with the lock on door to the flat, often having to try a few times to get it to work. I think this should be investigated. Suggestion:Extra towels would be nice.

The apartment was very clean. Why is it not possible to put a small mirror on the wall behind the bedroom door so visitors can dry their hair with a mirror. (There is no socket near a mirror.) There is only the minimum of crockery and cutlery so the dishwasher is never full. This is very wasteful.

  • "Generally the accommodation is fine but a few small things would make a massive difference."

The best bit is the view and the proximity to the beach. That’s great. You can hear the waves lapping all the time. A few more cups and crockery etc would be useful and make using the dishwasher more efficient. A table or shelf near a mirror and electric point in the bedroom would allow the use of a hairdryer and things for getting ready much easier. A clothes airer to hang out towels to dry etc would be useful. The light in the hallway keeps going on and off quite randomly. There was no hot water available by the end of day 6 of the holiday.

You sit up in bed and see nothing but sea. It is normally quiet too. It was perfectly clean and well equipped with dishwasher, cooker, microwave and even an iron! The bed is very firm, so if that is a problem take a mattress topper. The TV is described as a smart TV and is connected to the router, but we could only get free view on it. Kept being told it wasn’t connected to the internet. Also does not have an hdmi connector so our fire stick didn’t work either. Good fast broadband so we watched Netflix on iPad. I would definitely return.

Beautiful views out to sea and lovely to hear the sound of the waves. The flat had everything we required in terms of cooking facilities as we tend to eat out most of the time. The shower was also very good and powerful. What let the flat down was the mattress which was very hard and uncomfortable and we had to use the duvet itself as a mattress topper in order to get a good night's sleep. The flat was also very dusty and definitely hadn't had the extra cleaning that is required in the present circumstances

A basic welcome pack was left for us , t.roll, hand soap, washing up liquid, j cloth & kitchen sponge. There was also some dishwasher tabs but didn't use any as we found it easy to wash the crockery that we used. Milk was in the fridge and t.bags, coffee and sugar along with a pack of welshcakes . The only disappointment we had was that on the 5th day we had bad weather with high wind and we lost the TVs signal so we didn't have any tv for the last two days , we did report it but unfortunately it couldn't be rectified. The apartment has great sea views and the parking wasn't a problem, overall would certainly recommend.

  • "On the positive the property had wonderful views as published, a comfortable bed and the shower was great."

We were however disappointed in the level of cleanliness in particular. The toilet for example hadn't been cleaned properly (pubic hair on rim), the bathroom sink had a hair in it, dead flies where the carpet meets the skirting boards in the main room, and dust on the skirting board in the bedroom (it looked like the wall had been rubbed down and it had not been hoovered up) and the mirror and windows inside were dirty. Whilst I certainly don't go on holiday to clean there was a lack of facilities to be able to clean up after yourself - no hoover, or cleaning liquids for the toilet etc. It would also be an improvement if the property had more than 4 mugs, plates etc. Whilst I understand that the property is designed for 2 people the number of plates etc meant that the dishwasher had to go on when virtually empty to get them back into service.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback. We would like to express our apologies that you had a negative experience in Ardudwy. We are disappointed that you felt that cleanliness wasn't up to standard. We treat cleanliness as one of our highest priorities. The web description was accurate and on arriving, we found everything nice and clean and tidy. Such a pleasant change to be able to go to sleep and wake up hearing the waves wash up against the promenade! Criccieth is a lovely town and gives an opportunity to explore more widely the Llyn Penninsula and this area of north west Wales. There was mention in the welcome pack I think of a visitors book but sadly we couldn't find it to add these positive words! The wife said it would be nice to have a dressing table in the bedroom but in fairness, I don't know where you could find the room as everything is nicely compact as it is. We're not usually the 'go back' types, but we would certainly seriously consider another short break away in Ardudwy if we ever need a brief escape from home in west Wales.

The only downside was the elephants in the flat above! I noted previous comments from people, the street lamp outside the window didn't bother us at all, I was expecting it to be really bright but it didn't stop us sleeping! The shower still slipped down but I fixed this with a plaster! It would be good to have some kind of shelf within the shower to but your toiletries on. The kitchen was sufficiently stocked for 2 of us. The smart TV was a bonus as we could watch programmes on iplayer etc! We had a brilliant holiday in a picturesque location. We were lucky to have only one day of rain and the rest of the days were sunny, which in October was a bonus. The views are stunning. I would thoroughly recommend this property.

Easy parking. But if you are a light sleeper you need an eye ask as there is a street light that shines into the bed room window and the blinds are of no use. Black out blinds would easily resolve this issue. Also, there is a light in hall of the flat which flickers on and off throught the day and night. For people planning to eat in, a larger frying pan with lid would be handy.

It'd be nice to have a warning in the welcome pack that it will run out of hot water at some point as well especially since I ended up faffing with the head for a while trying to get it to stay put. Other than that, it was an absolutely wonderful property in a beautiful location, handy for many lovely days out and cosy for staying in in bad weather. We'll seriously consider booking again!
