  • "Just returned from a weeks holiday staying at Ty Jem property in Criccieth Wales and what a fantastic time we’ve had!"

!. Ty Jem is a real home from home as its furnished to to a very high standard and unlike a lot of rental properties we’ve stayed at before, is fully stocked with everything you need to really enjoy your stay. As soon as we walked through the door you could tell the owners had put a lot of thought into the property, from the comfiest of beds in every room (they even provided a choice of firm or soft pillows to choose from), to the well stocked kitchen, which had everything you needed to make literally anything!!. Even the dog was well catered for on his stay with water and food bowls provided for him!. The property is excellently located centrally in the village and is close to a good selection of shops, restaurants, takeaways and of course the lovely beach. It’s also close to the train station, so it’s easy to hop on a train for a lovely day trip if you don’t fancy driving. There are some lovely walks right from your front door and the Welsh costal path is also right on your doorstep. I don’t normally write reviews, but on this occasion, I felt compelled to do so. Ty Jem is a real gem of a property, we can’t wait to return again later in the year, so it’s 5 stars from us!!

  • "A beautiful house in an ideal location for great walks, and driving to surrounding sights."

Lots of places to eat and takeout around and a well stoked local nisa, also a petrol station to left. The house is such a home from home, everything thought of to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Very well equipped, comfortable sofas, beds and pillows, all quality furnishings and utensils. We had great weather and the house got very warm, so we made good use of the outdoor areas the back area stays pretty much shaded whi h is great for outdoor cool dining and the balcony gets the sun. The whole week, we never seen one train at all, so when it says a quiet train station it really is. 5 minutes and your on a breathtaking coast, we loved the prom walk. Thanks Nikki for being great hosts

Welcome pack was exceptional. Beautifully set up for a short stay. Ceilings are very low in places in the 4th floor master bedroom due to the sloping roof so mind your head! Very convenient for the train station.

Parking a bonus. Shaded garden was lovely in the heat (we were there the heatwave week!) The digital guide received was innovative and really helpful. Loved it. Kitchen was perfectly stocked, a real home from home. Loved the Welsh words in the hallway. And the chair downstairs was a perfectly cool seat to sit on a hot day with a book. So many lovely features to this house. Proximity to station is a brilliant plus for this holiday let. My adult children loved the table tennis and had an ongoing tournament running all week. This house was a fabulous stay for our family. The owners have done a marvellous job.

  • "We had a lovely week at Ty Jem and enjoyed exploring Criccieth and Snowdonia."

Here’s what we liked: The welcome pack with Welsh cakes, milk, tea, coffee and jam was a nice touch, thank you. Entrance hall, space for shoes, walking boots and coats was perfect. The games room was great fun and easily and safely housed our bikes too. The kitchen was brilliantly well stocked, has everything we needed (and more!) and everything was good quality and easy to operate. The lounge area was great, good size, we enjoyed relaxing on the sofas, the HD TV was excellent and the dining table was just right. We had breakfast and a few drinks on the balcony which was nice. The beds were really comfy, clean and warm, TV’s in the rooms went down well and storage was great. The showers were consistently powerful, really lovely after a day on the beach or hiking. Fantastically easy to get to the beach and all the Criccieth has to offer by way of shops, pubs, cafés etc. We found breakfast and lunch nicer and easier to eat out than dinner which was limited. And the not so good: This property is so close to the train station you can hear the platform announcements, the big, slow diesel trains and their whistles. The trains are every two hours each way so it’s not too intrusive but should be detailed on the listing - as should the big fences and barbed wire between the driveway to the property and the railway line which only spoils the view of you look down - the views looking straight ahead towards the sea or up towards the castle are amazing day and night. We wondered if perhaps the property had been vacant before we arrived as it had obviously been cleaned, but had become dusty again in parts with a few dead flies in windows - easily resolved with a damp cloth and the vacuum cleaner, but not what we expected to be doing on arrival. There was also a stubborn sticky patch on the kitchen worktop by the microwave which was cleaned with some elbow grease, but shouldn’t have been there. The en suite in the master bedroom at the top of the house felt a bit odd, the room is massive, but the sink is small, probably cloakroom size and the shower, although spacious and powerful, leaks onto the floor at either the top or the side. We personally don’t like striping beds and towels before departing, but did so as requested and recognise the covid context. Overall we would stay again and would recommend this property.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are really pleased that you had a good holiday. We have addressed the issues you raised with our cleaners. We hope to welcome you back to Ty JEM soon. Property Owner

  • "Absolute fantastic property with plenty of amenities, games for children, local walks and small shops nearby."

The property boasts 2 double and 1 kingsize bedroom with an ensuite and a toilet on every floor! Stunning attention to detail, everything had been considered, from the trays in the bedroom to place your trinkets and drinks on, bedside lamps, extra blankets and towels. No expense was spared on the kitchen and living room items and everything was perfect. Only a tiny piece of feedback as I like to think I'm a dab in the kitchen...bring your own potato masher and tin opener, otherwise absolutely plenty of cleaning, cooking and washing utensils. Thank you so much for making our stay amazing in your home, it felt very much like a modern home from home with a spectacular view from our impressive 'penthouse kingsize' through the window!

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are pleased that you had a good break. Also, appreciated the feedback on the kitchen utensils, we now have a potato masher and tin opener at the property. The master bedroom actually has a Super king-size bed and the other 2 bedrooms have king-size which can be made as twins on request. We hope to welcome you back soon. Property Owner

Beds very comfortable, beautifully furnished and nice hot showers. The table tennis in the converted garage was a god send, as were the washing and drying facilities.
