  • "The perfect place to relax in rural surroundings."

Countryside, beaches, hills, mountains, flora, fauna, farm animals: Tyn Y Big has them all. So many hidden gems in the vicinity! The property is welcoming and very comfortable and had everything we needed (we couldn’t find a teapot though..). The younger members of our group enjoyed the games provided and the ‘Snug’ space. The weather prevented us from making the most of the outdoor seating/dining facility, nor did we get to star gaze. So I guess we’ll just have to come back…

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back and we will be sure to have a teapot. Kindest regards, Annette, Vicky and Dean Property Owner

  • "We really loved our stay at Tyn y Big, the house was fantastic, it catered easily for the 10 people in our party, including teenagers and a couple of disabled elderly family members and the location was wonderful - peaceful and isolated but near enough to all the lovely local towns/villages and fabulous beaches."

We appreciated the great welcome basket too. Our only grumble is regarding the really soft beds. Several of us have back and neck issues and these were exacerbated by sleeping on the really soft, squidgy mattresses, resulting in some of us having to take pain killers by the end if the week! This unfortunately slightly took the edge of our holiday.

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We will be addressing the issues you experienced with the mattresses and hopefully, if you stay with us again, you will have a very comfortable sleep, with firmer mattresses, which we have now ordered. Dogs loved the gardens and the kids loved the snug. Owner was very responsive when had a question. Highly recommend

  • "The host went above and beyond, very flexible and accommodating."

Sorted an issue (of my own making) quickly. We stayed as a family of 8 adults, 4 children and a dog. There was enough room for us all and the snug was an amazing separate area for the kids. Very isolated house but for us that was a big bonus: it was so quiet, the kids could run safely outside and the sky at night was stunning. Perfect base for exploring the local area but even on rainy days there was enough space we didn't get under each others feet. All the facilities you would needs, and added extras like the karaoke machine made it a fun week away. Only thing I would note, dogs are only allowed in the kitchen and living room. I completely understand why but I just feel that it needs to be clearer on the listing that this is the case (unless I missed it). We have a very anxious dog so this can pose a problem for us, but he handled it well and we would all love to come back.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your week and happy to know you want to return - which means so much. Property Owner

  • "The house and location was gorgeous."

The beds were amazing, I’ve never slept in a more comfortable bed in my whole life!! Lovely welcome pack, little touches around the house made our holiday, large garden where we played football, bowls, rugby, frisbee as well as local walks to the beach/countryside. We only found the welcome pack upon leaving as it was in a drawer. Because of this there was confusion with how to get hot water. WiFi was unreliable, this meant a meeting with work couldn’t go ahead due to connectivity issues. This wasn’t a big issue as we expect this in the remote locations like this house. We absolutely loved our holiday and we would love to return and would 100% recommend to everyone.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments and we are so happy your stay met expectations. This is our first season letting our home and it’s wonderful to know that you and your family had a great holiday. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage, lovely setting, perfect for a big family holiday."

Hardly saw the children all week after they claimed the snug . The weather was awful, we were just unlucky to get a particularly wet week, but it didn’t spoil the holiday and the children wouldn’t have cared if we hadn’t left the cottage all week. The owners are great , answered queries straight away and left a lovely welcome pack.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and we are so happy to know you had a great holiday with your family, in spite of the poor weather during your stay. Property Owner

  • "Tyn Y Big is a great cottage with everything one would hope to find making it feel homely and not a "holiday cottage" The only thing missing for us was a cafetiere."

The cottage is well located and within a short drive to some great walks and beaches which are amazing. We did expect to be able to walk directly from the property but the footpaths have become overgrown making it impossible. We have recommended Tyn Y Big to family and friends and would definitely stay again. The owner of the property was most helpful and made sure the heating was turned on for our arrival also the welcome package was very generous ;-)

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and we hope you visit us again. There is now a cafetière and we welcomed your suggestion. Property Owner

The grounds were spacious for the children and we enjoyed the coquet set provided. We were lucky with wonderful sunny weather apart from the first day.

About the location

Pwllheli 6 miles.

The attractive harbour village of Abersoch is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in a region of Wales renowned for its outstanding scenery and varied walking. The village, situated between two glorious bays, is one of the most popular sailing venues in North Wales and important sailing regattas are held there throughout the summer months. Numerous shops cater for the tourist as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes. There are also opportunities for golfers as there is a course just outside the village and horse riding facilities are also available nearby. Watersports enthusiasts are also well catered for, particularly windsurfing, water skiing and dinghy sailing, not to mention renowned surfing at Port Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth). The long, sandy Abersoch Main Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area. There is a wonderful selection of beaches in the surrounding area of the Llyn Peninsula, including the beautiful and often quiet Porth Ceriad, with it's high cliffs, and sandy Porth Oer ("Whistling Sands"). Most of the coastline is owned by the National Trust and there are many remote bays, sandy beaches and cliffs, as well as wildlife havens like Bardsey Island to explore.
