  • "We enjoyed our stay very much."

It was very conveniently situated for the places that we wanted to visit - Pontcysyllte aqueduct, Erddig and Chester. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We didn’t need to light the fire as the weather was unseasonably warm but noticed that there was only 4 logs provided for the whole week. A bottle of milk would have been appreciated on arrival also. All in all a very nice relaxing time was had.

  • "Cottage was as described."

The towels were too hard and rough. Pillows lumpy. No washing up brush or liquid. Take your own! There is a major problem with the gutter over front door. When it rains, it pours off there. I emailed Sykes a day before we left for advice regarding the bins, but they did not respond! Garden is not secure for dog. Beautiful park across the road, but no dogs allowed. !!

Thank you for your feedback Helen, the gutter has been fixed and all concerns have been addressed. Really appreciate your feedback as it helps me ensure no future concerns. We are obviously set in the countryside and there are lots of beautiful walks in the area. For future reference, there is always washing up supplies under the sink and if you needed anything please just let me know. Thank you again Wena Property Owner

  • "Lovely, clean cottage, beautiful location the only down side was a lack of kitchen equipment and the sofa 's needed some padding, the outside chairs were also in need of comfortable pads."

Neighbours really lovely and helpful. More guidance on rubbish collection and recycling would be welcome.

Thank you for your feedback Paul, so pleased you liked the cottage, I have double checked the kitchen equipment and replaced items, also added throws and cushions to ensure the sofa is comfy (and it’s very comfy now). Really appreciate your feedback as it helps me ensure no future concerns. For future reference, there is recycling information in the black folder, but it’s no problem at all as I will sort if needed. Thank you again Wena Property Owner

  • "The mark of 9 on ‘How likely are you to recommend us’ is for Sykes not the cottage."

The cottage is comfortable but in a basic sense. In the kitchen, no saucepan lids or measuring jug. The sitting room could do with some cushions for settee & chair. New bedding in bedroom, the duvet is lumpy with some bare patches. There was some noise from the neighbours such as piano practice, running up and down stairs although this probably has much to do with the lack of insulation/sound deadening between properties. Also in and out with cars, different ones giving impression that car dealer on a small scale, who knows? We were grateful of being accepted on a late booking but we wouldn’t book that property again.

Thank you for your feedback and it’s really helpful for improvements to make guests more comfortable. I’ve taken what you’ve suggested into account and made changes / additions to the cottage eg. New bedding, cushions. Apologies about the noise, we have not had any concerns raised previously. I have spoken to my neighbour and the additional car was for their son and definitely no car dealership/ cars being sold. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention. Warm regards, Wena Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay in Carreg Cottage."

It was clean and cosy, the stream at the bottom of the garden was a bonus. Also, the perfect location from which to visit Snowdonia, Anglesey, LLangollen and Chester. We hope to make a return visit at some point in the future.

  • "The bed, although comfortable, was very noisy, squeaky."

It sounded as if it needed oiling. We were disappointed that there was only one log and half a bag of kindling by the fire.. There were no more logs out in the shed either, although there was an honesty box if he had wanted another log!!! The sofa was not bad but the chair was uncomfortable. The surrounding area was perfect and we had some lovely dog walks. All in all a great week in a lovely cottage and area.

Thank you for your feedback and bringing this to my attention. The bed has now been tightened. Apologies, for the lack of logs on the first day, but as requested I filled up the log store on the second day of your stay. I will ensure I double check this going forward. Cushions have now been added to the sofa and no further concerns raised. So pleased you had lovely walks and a nice stay. Thank you again for the feedback. Warm regards Wena Property Owner

Perfect for a single person or a couple looking for a quiet bolt hole. The sound of the water running in the stream in the back garden is really relaxing. The cottage had everything we need. I loved the dressing room; it means you can keep the bedroom totally uncluttered and peaceful. The neighbours all happened to be outside when we arrived and gave us a lovely welcome to. The village as a whole is really pretty and there’s some lovely walks right on the door step. Would definitely recommend!

Cottage we hired needs fence at rear , washing machine and Ironing board, and a new mattress plus a better selection of towels for sanitary purposes

Thank you for your feedback, the cottage is advertised without a rear fence, the garden is still very private, secure and a rear fence will block the view of the stream which is really tranquil and peaceful. The cottage is also advertised without a washing machine due to space. There is an ironing board provided in the bedroom cupboard. The mattress is also new and good quality (always with clean mattress protectors). Sorry you feel more towels were needed, I thought two bath towels, two hand towels, bath mat and a complimentary selection of shower gels, soaps, shampoo would be sufficient, but going forward I will look at leaving additional. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved staying in this cottage."

It was immaculately clean throughout, with plenty of towels and cleaning products. Decoration and fittings are of excellent quality. The cottage has been beautifully renovated but retains the sense of a Welsh cottage. The bed was very comfortable. Outside there is a lovely small garden bordering onto a babbling brook, with views over fields. In the cottage details it clearly states that the garden is unfenced next to the brook. Our dog adores water, but it was not an issue and she didn't try to get in, and instead we were able to sit out and enjoy the sound of running water. The next door neighbours are very friendly. The owner of the cottage was incredibly helpful when a personal issue threatened our holiday. Often owners are remote but the owner lives close by and is lovely. Overall we can find nothing negative to say about this cottage and we will return. The area is green and quiet and close to Offa's Dyke. If you are looking for a cosy cottage, which is clean and comfortable, with a private garden, in a beautiful area, with an owner who is friendly and helpful, look no further.

  • "Overall was really good and we enjoyed our stay."

Lovely little cottage and village. We loved how peaceful and tranquil the back garden was however, two small issues were the next door neighbours being quite loud as early as 6.30am however we do understand they have there daily routine. Also the bed was overly noisy, being a metal framed bed, it creaks whenever you make a slight movement which can be quite annoying whilst trying to sleep.

  • "The cottage provided the two of us with a great place to stay in an ideal location."

When we walked into the cottage there was a welcome hamper in the kitchen, which included cakes, coffee, baguettes and a card which was a very nice and welcoming touch. We even had toiletries available and milk/tea/coffee which was an added bonus! The cottage was very clean and had great facilities for the two of us. The driveway is shared with the neighbours on either side, and can be a tight squeeze for most cars but we managed to park off-road, and as mentioned there is parking available on the street if needed. We visited many places in the surrounding areas, such as Mold town centre for the market, Llangollen railway and Loggerheads Country Park, all were a short drive away. Information was provided within a folder of recommended places to visit, places to eat nearby and how to utilise the log fire and radiators. It was nice and peaceful to hear the stream in the back garden whilst we were getting ready for the day or in the kitchen. We enjoyed every minute of our mini get away and would definitely stay in the cottage again!

  • "My girlfriend and I chose this beautiful cottage based on all the fantastic reviews and they weren't wrong."

The cottage was beautifully decorated and furnished with a lovely log fire chimney in a nice small village. The welcome hamper just added that special touch which we didn't expect, filled with cakes, scones, bread and doggy treats. The kitchen was well a equipped with a little table which made it cute. The bedroom felt cosey with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean and spacious, not to forget the dressing room which had plenty of space to get ready and my girlfriend used it to do her makeup. The patio was so nice with a lovely scenery to the back and the stream. The cottage is situated in a really quiet and peaceful area but not much to do apart from lovely morning walks. It's shame we never got to experience the local pub as it's only open few days a week and ultimately the owner was very helpful and was quick to respond to any issues or questions. This cottage is strongly recommended as although there wasn't much to do in the area, it was in the ideal location as everything was in close proximity even an hour's drive felt like 30 mins. We will be sure to be returning to this amazing cottage again!

The bedroom is cozy and the bed is very comfortable. I loved the dressing room, it was amazing having that little space to get ready in the mornings. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The next door neighbour is very chatty and funny. He also has chickens in the garden which are nice to watch if you're sitting outside by the river. The owner is very helpful. She was very quick getting back to me if I had any questions. She made some suggestions about nice walks and pubs. The Sunday roast at the Cross Keys was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended! We loved the stable door to the back courtyard and stream and enjoyed eating meals and having a drink in the sun there. There was a lovely welcome basket on arrival including treats for our dog. There is off road parking to the front although a little tricky to manoeuvre into space as the drive way also provides access to the next property but the neighbours are very friendly. The only improvements we would suggest would be some sharper kitchen knives and a Pyrex jug.. So really nothing to complain about!
