  • "The info on off road parking is useless, the outside of the place is a weird mish mash of terraces ,gazebos and sheds, with no indication of where you are allowed to go."

There were about 4 logs and no kindling, no toilet roll? and a dangerous panel pin stuck in the post at the top of the stairs waiting to rip a hand. There is no shop as indicated in the info, just a garage about a mile down the road. The surroundings are derelict and sordid. No never again, we came home early

  • "We were extremely disappointed, we travelled from Norfolk a long journey, arriving just as it was getting dark, lighting from the car to the cottage was non existent, then when we walk in, the cottage was not very clean, it was shabby, not at all like in the pictures, and definitely was not given correct rating of excellent."

The bed was very comfortable and the linen clean. The shower was good. the toilet seat fixture was broken, the cottage showed that there had been little maintenance, and there was no information about facilities, hospitals, drs etc. No information on appliances. No kitchen bin, or bin bags. The smoke alarm was in a drawer in the chest in the living room.... I did call the mobile number on my information sheet but it just went to message, I left a message and I heard nothing back . We were staying in the cottage to visit my sister, who a few weeks ago lost her husband, had this been a holiday we would have gone home again the next day. We had promised to come across and support my sister for this week. We decided to return home earlier than planned. I have taken photos of the issues and did leave a note for the owner /cleaner of things that needed looking at. The cottage obviously has not been inspected by Sykes for some time. This experience has left us feeling disappointed, and reluctant to use Sykes again.

  • "We had an extended stay at Bryn Nopha and found it comfortable and homely."

The owner was very accommodating and the neighbours were very friendly. The cottage has a lovely garden and terrace where we enjoyed the warm weather, but we also enjoyed the homely log burner when the weather turned colder. Flint mountain is a good location for exploring locally and further a field and we would recommend the dog friendly pub that is within walking distance (The Coach & Horses). All in all, it was a lovely place to stay :)

  • "This is a great place to stay."

There is something very relaxing about this house. It might be the great bed. It might be the quiet. I don’t know exactly but everything combined to just make it peaceful and I slept incredibly well and just felt very rested. During my stay the fridge broke. There is a separate huge freezer so it wasn’t the end of the world and Darran, the owner, installed a new one the following day which I thought was excellent. The kitchen is big and well fitted out. The washing machine needs a firm push to close the door but otherwise works really well. There is good phone signal considering it’s a very rural location and the broadband/WiFi is excellent. There is loads of parking and the neighbours are lovely and we’re extremely helpful with explaining things like what day the bins are emptied. And if you don’t feel like cooking the Coach and Horses pub (about 2 minutes walk down the hill) is excellent. I would recommend Flint Mountain (and Bryn Nophfa) to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing break.

  • "Lovely cottage."

We enjoyed very much our stay. The place is well equipped even has a fire place. There is even a terrace at in the back garden that must be very pleasant to use in the summer.
