  • "Lovely house which was comfortable, warm and well stocked with all we might need."

Fabulous views and close to amenities. We had great days to Llangollen, Chirk castle and the aqueduct (even though it was closed to crossings!). Only issue was parking at the bottom of the drive which was stressful due to the poor traction on the gravel.

  • "Superb well fitted cottage."

Comfortable beds, very clean surroundings. Great location. Good showers .One cubicle needs a little re-sealing but otherwise no problems. Plenty to do ie walking, games, good eatery around area. Scenery was ever changing but great to watch. Nicely decorated for Christmas.

We were really pleased that you all enjoyed a cosy Christmas break at Alwyn Cottage. The log burner really adds to the seasonal feel. We had have taken the opportunity to refresh and redecorate the cottage and the bathrooms have both benefitted from resealing. We look forward to welcoming you back again! Property Owner

  • "Absolutely amazing stay, really lovely holiday spot!"

Our only fault was the very steep driveway, we were warned but the hill was so uneven we actually pulled the bumper off our car on the first attempt at the drive unfortunately so I think that should be described more obviously in the listing, Didn’t let it ruin the holiday though as it really is a wonderful property! Had soo many home comforts, especially loved all the crockery in the kitchen ! Would stay again but maybe hire a raised vehicle to make the drive easier haha! Thanks for a great stay!

We have tried hard to make Alwyn cottage a home from home with everything you might need and we are glad you had a lovely holiday. We hope that you will come and stay again. Best wishes. Property Owner

Met with the owner of the property after we had an issue getting up to the cottage- we were helped greatly and are extremely grateful for this- thanks so much again. Would love to stay again and would definitely recommend to others looking for somewhere to stay!

We are thrilled you were able to collect your friends from the local train station for your weekend reunion and found the cottage to your satisfaction. We would love to welcome you all back again! Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week at Alwyn cottage."

The property has been beautifully renovated and is extremely well equipped. The kitchen has a dishwasher, a brilliant oven, toaster, plenty of pots and pans and even baking equipment, which our children loved using. The beds and sofas are comfortable and there is a great selection of games, a smart TV and lots of leaflets full of information about the local area. The views are amazing; you can see for miles across the Dee Valley, and we felt very fortunate to be able to barbecue and to eat on the patio most evenings. Despite the surroundings being so peaceful, there is so much to do in the local area and the cottage was lovely to return to every day. We wouldn't hestitate to recommend Alwyn Cottage.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Froncysyllte is a fantastic holiday location with plenty of beautiful walks in countryside and along the canal and many tourist attractions in the local area. With the far reaching views there is something for everyone! We really would love to welcome you back in the future and have left a number of walks leaflets and maps in the cottage for guests to borrow. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very comfortable and very well equipped."

Stunning views and close to attractions. Unfortunately our stay was marred by the driveway. It was extremely steep and very uneven. The driveway was a mix of paving, small amount of tarmac and loose gravel. There was very little traction when driving on there. Walking up or down on the driveway was also difficult due to the unevenness.

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed the cottage and wonderful views. We have taken on board your comments about the uneven surface and have remedied it with additional stone. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful property in a wonderful location."

It's elevated position gives views across the Dee Valley. Sitting on the patio watching the sunset was just magical. The cottage is very well appointed with everything you need. The access to the cottage is very steep so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues but the listing does make this very clear. Our week at Alwyn Cottage was enjoyed by all and I would certainly love a return visit.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We understand the access is steep and try to make people aware of this but the incredible views and location make it worthwhile! We look forward to welcoming you back! Thank you. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed the week at Alwyn Cottage."

A characterful cottage with fantastic views. Very well equipped and beautifully done. Lots of great places to visit closeby, including Erddig, Chirk Castle, Ty Mawr. We also enjoyed some beautiful walks along the river and canal. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and found everything you required in the cottage. We have tried hard to include everything anyone could want while away from home! We are very fortunate to have an abundance of lovely places to visit in striking distance and incredible walks from the doorstep. One of our favourites is the walk up Yr Ochr to the top of the hill where you can take in panoramic views across the Shropshire plain into England as well as all the way to Eryri / Snowdonia.
