  • "Such a lovely place to stay."

My husband and I, plus our 3 friends had come to do a Snowdon hike and wanted a nice comfortable vase that could accommodate 5 people. The cottage is perfect. The showers are hot and powerful and the beds very comfy, just what you need after a hike. The addition of snuggly blankets was something everyone loved. We decided to light a fire and couldn't find a match or fire lighter so popped the owner a question. In less than a minute they had responded and 5 mins later had come over with lighter, logs and kindling (ours was the first fire since summer) really pleasant and accommodating. No negatives to mention! Tranquil, lovely and easy short drive to pubs and shops. Perfect getaway. Thank you!

Thank you very much hope to see you again soon xx Property Owner

  • "A very nice comfortable cottage in very good clean condition and in a very good location for many attractions."

1 minor criticism is that the tiny hand towel in the bathroom quickly became wet and unusable between 2 people and a normal size for both guests would have been more usual.

  • "A wonderful cottage in a delightful, quiet location."

The cottage was extremely well equipped and maintained. The quality of fixtures and fittings was good. Plenty of good quality towels provided. The wifi speed was a little slow, especially when trying to watch Netflix. Plenty of room both inside and out and it was lovely to be able to have dinner in an evening outside on the picnic table whilst watching the sheep. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you for the lovely feedback, hope you come again xx Property Owner

Nice and clean and in a great location for visiting many areas nearby. The house is generally well equipped and we had a great week here.

  • "It would have been a lovely touch to have received a welcome back."

Doesn't have to be major, just some basics to get us started, especially as journey took 10 hours, a cup of tea on arrival would have been great. Towels were clean but well used. Could do with fresh new towels and some extra towels to use for later in week. Did not like the security camera directed onto the house. Felt unnecessarily intrusive. Some local walks would have been nice.

  • "The cottage was lovely and it was very clean."

It was in a very peaceful location and easy to get to surrounding attractions. The only things we were not happy about were the bed in the main bedroom was extremely uncomfortable. It was creaky when you moved and the mattress was very lumpy, you could also feel the springs. We therefore had to sleep in the twin room which was unsatisfactory. The other thing was that we were only given one small thin bathtowel each for a 5 night stay. There was just one handtowel in each bathroom. I contacted the owner who said that was what they allocated per person as they have experienced theft of towels. She did provide an extra towel each but I feel that we shouldn't have had to ask. The quality of the towels was cheap and basic

  • "A lovely family break at Bryn Bethel."

The cottage has a real high quality feel, comfortable beds and all the amenities you need. The view from the back garden is lovely and our kids loved meeting lots of farm animal friends on all the adjacent land, especially the two miniature shetlands, Annie and Molly just over the road. Owners very helpful. Great location to explore North Wales. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again x

Limited electric socket in the double room and ironing board is very tiny. The cottage is very clean which is really good.

It was a wonderful base to explore the beautiful area. Had everything we needed - just the perfect holiday home! The shower was fantastic and the fire too! All of it wonderful thank you! Only thing we could have done with was some bigger towels but it wasn't a problem as the house was so warm we dried really quickly!! Thank you so much we'd love to come back!

We arrived slightly early but everything was ready for us and the entire place was spotless. We felt reall comfortable. The outdoor space and neighbouring fields made for a gorgeous landscape. Ceri was very helpful, and we were left to enjoy our stay quietly. Good transit links to Anglesey, Conwy, and other parts of N.the region. Would highly recommend! (We were a family of two parents and one preschooler).

Set in a quiet hamlet it offered a comfortable, well equipped holiday accommodation. It was very clean and well maintained. The owner was on hand and called to introduce herself and check that all was satisfactory at the start of our stay. It’s a great base to visit the gorgeous area and nearby attractions. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again. Top marks.

The property

Bontnewydd 1.8 miles.

In rural Rhostryfan in North Wales, lies this traditional farmhouse, Bryn Bethel, renovated to create additional stylish space, with some excellent features, and looking picture-perfect with its stone walls and double fronted windows.

Affording itself well to larger families because of the bedroom space, and with its rural location with good access to nearby towns, you can really take some time out away from the daily grind and relax surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Be welcomed into this real home-away-from-home and find the kitchen area to your right after coming through the front door, and you will be pleased to see a well-equipped contemporary kitchen where you can prepare your meals.

A woodburning stove sits in the dividing wall between the kitchen area and the sitting and dining room, and is accessible from both sides; a clever modern feature that means everyone will be toasty warm.

This open-plan sitting and dining area features a brilliant curved wall of exposed red-brick, a simple but stunning design that really adds character to the already interesting building, with this room featuring a Smart TV and patio doors leading into the garden.

Back out of this quirky room, and over to the other side of the ground floor and come upon the double bedroom with en-suite shower room; this room is spacious and would suit people with limited mobility.

Once you’ve climbed up the classic steep staircase, so common in older properties, you will find the twin room containing two singles, and a bunk room, ideal for the kid’s, and across the way is a shower room with modern up-to-date fittings, so you can have the luxury of the 21st century within these old walls.

From inside the living area, go through the patio doors and you come out into the delightful garden which has table and seating for eating outside on warm summer evenings, and a good-sized lawned area for the children to play on, with off-road parking to the front of the property for two cars.

The nearest village with a pub and shop is Bontnewydd, just a few miles up the road so you can nip over in the car, or take a walk over to the pub if it’s a nice day, with the larger town of Caernarfon further north for some more choice.

Caernarfon isn’t just good for shops, it has lots to offer in the way of rich history and activities, most notably is Caernarfon Castle constructed all the way back in the 14th century by order of King Edward I, it is still mostly intact and definitely worth a visit.

For an incredible sightseeing opportunity, go along to Caernarfon Airport’s Pleasure Flights, and take in the stunning views of Snowdonia and the beautiful coast from a plane or helicopter with a guided tour for an unforgettable holiday experience.

The kids will absolutely love Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre, where they can spend the day windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and many other exciting activities, and if you don’t want to join in then head into the café where you can grab a coffee and cake instead!

Use Bryn Bethel as your base for touring this beautiful area of Wales.
