  • "I would suggest that they remove the key boxes that are not actually in use as at present there are four 4."

I had to call the office locally for assistance and a lovely person helped me to obtain the key with an emergency number for the box. The apartment would be more homely with a comfortable chair to sit on as the bed is a little difficult to take apart in a daily basis ,just my opinion. Sadly had to return home early by a day due to weather and my health.

  • "A lovely apartment, and well-located."

However, although it appeared clean on the surface, it was in need of a little TLC. The sofa bed was dirty and smelled, we slept on that. The curtains were difficult to open/closed, and the privacy blinds didn't work well. The tiles in the bathroom/shower are in need of a good cleaning, and the pull cords were filthy, and quite unhygienic. There were plenty of cobwebs above head height around the apartment, and areas behind and underneath furniture were full of dust and hair. There was a lack of cleaning materials and products for us to maintain a high level whilst we were there. the outside furniture that you mentioned was old, rotten and broken. this is dangerous and needs to be replaced. However, the apartment was comfortable and the facilities were as advertised. we had a great time, but I believe that the owner should look at the poor cleaning delivered by an independent cleaning company. All of your properties we have stayed in previously have been well-cleaned by the owners and we have had no complaints on this level before. This was not the best holiday let we have had with you, but only down to the cleanliness and TLC it is lacking.

  • "Enjoyed our stay here, stayed next door twice, lovely location, clean, bed though advertised, had to Google the set up, but comfy once sorted, side gate with 5 digets padlock was an experience, decided to not scramble the digets while staying there, but tradesmen, cleaners, fellow Sykes neighbours all had the combination, bit like a scene out of Crystal Maze, not nice being padlocked into your holiday home, for that reason alone won't stay here again!"

The location was breathtaking! We’ve always loved Porthmadog and surrounding areas but never stayed! The only downside was the vacuum cleaner was not working , so we were unable to hoover round on leaving.

  • "We had a wonderful week, location is fantastic."

The appt is great for 2 and s dog, the sofa bed is a pain to put up and down every day, I think a real bed and small sofa and chair would be better, no need for the extra large family dining table, a small bistro one would do. These are only suggestions. I love the place and definitely will be back.

  • "The property itself was adequate and in a lovely location but unfortunately the seal on the mixer tap in the kitchen went and we spent part of an evening mopping up water and waiting for help."

A plumber eventually arrived and managed to turn off the stop tap located in the bathroom right in the corner which was difficult to access and more difficult to turn!. We ended up with no water at all until the following afternoon. This unfortunately spoilt the first day of our 45th Wedding Anniversary break.

  • "I have had an enjoyable weeks stay in Cornhill Courtyard which is a studio apartment."

The location of the apartment is superb. It is situated in the old historic area of Porthmadog Harbour and has a wonderful view straight out over the beautiful harbour which you couldn’t better! I also really liked the fact that the large main room is so light, bright and spacious. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were also fine. Once the sofa bed was up with the topper on top it was very comfortable . However, I did have some issues with the sofa bed. I was staying in the property on my own and as a 75-year-old woman with an arthritic hip, I did find it quite a struggle at times getting the bed up and putting it away. On one occasion the fabric loops got trapped inside and it then became impossible to get it out or put it up on my own. However the owner was extremely responsive and arranged within a couple of hours for the cleaning company to come and sort it out which they did. It needed two men to lift out the mattress extension in order to release the fabric flaps. I had felt concerned about the parking situation in August. However, in the event I was able to park right outside the apartment on three occasions and very close by on the other four days. From 4:30 pm onwards Porthmadog gradually quieten down and plenty of free parking then becomes available. Security of the property is very good as there is a padlocked gate into a small courtyard. Despite the issues with the sofa bed I am very glad I stayed in the property, as I had a very enjoyable weeks holiday. It was lovely to revisit Porthmadog, which I had visited a lot as a teenager and young person, when my parents had a caravan in the area.

  • "The cottage has a lovely location and waking up to the view of the harbour and its boats was a really nice start to the day."

However, we thought the accommodation had some shortcomings; the main one being the sofa bed (see tripadvisor). It wasn’t particularly comfortable or easy enough to erect every night and so we left it as a bed during the day. However, that meant there was nowhere to sit with a comfortable back-rest. We felt that with a better layout, for example, if the TV was wall mounted then a wardrobe could be fitted into the space created. A standard double bed could be used and a comfortable small two seater settee or equivalent could be accommodated, especially if the patio style table and chairs was replaced with a drop leaf table with higher back chairs. Some pictures on the wall wouldn't go amiss!

  • "Fantastic location."

Description was very accurate, so the sofa bed was not a surprise. It was a surprise how comfortable it was. The only negative was that every footstep from the flat above is audible. All in all though a lovely little flat in the best location in Porthmadoc.

  • "Lovely studio apartment with a nice view of Porthmadog Harbour."

Great shower with lots of hot water. The only downside was the sofa bed (which was comfy enough) but would be better with a proper bed and parking is difficult in the very small courtyard but there is plenty of parking available outside on the roadway instead.

  • "The flat is in an amazing level location close to the town of Porthmadog, the Ffestionniog railway and the Cob."

It is also a level walk to nearby Borth y gest with several sandy coves. Everything was clean and well presented. The sofa bed was reasonably comfortable with the extra mattress cover. We were out a lot and left it set up as a bed. We didn't take a pet but I would feel happy to take one as the flat feels like a home. The building has a lot of lovely character. We would certainly consider returning if in the area again.

  • "Situated perfectly, off road parking a bonus."

Views were great but most of the time there was a car or van parked outside window so no view which was disapointing. Only one bath and one hand towel each for the week so had to buy some towels this was a first for us. One very cheap and nasty toilet roll, only one saucepan. The main problem was the sofa bed having to struggle to put mattress topper on as quite heavy, such a hassle so just left bed made up all the time . The owner should really invest in a good quality sofa bed which would make peoples stay a lot easier.

  • "Having read some reviews we were a little concerned about the sleeping arrangements."

The sofa bed now has a good quality mattress topper so the bed was comfortable, for the older traveller the bed is a little difficult to get in and out of. The situation of the property is right on the harbour and the off road parking is good. A word of warning if you have a bigger car take a wide run at the entrance as we managed to scrape the side of our car on the first attempt!

When we logged into to try and change the dates we were not able to do so and we felt your guidance on the website was somewhat lacking in clarity. The emails we received from you prior to our holiday were contradictory and confusing. We contacted the key holder directly for more clarification. The apartment itself was in a fantastic location which was easy to find. We appreciated the parking spot too. The people staying in the apartment above us (also part of your collection) were extremely noisy, especially during the evenings. We could hear every single step, their conversations and their tv. They might not have been aware of how loud they were being so perhaps a polite notice would benefit future guests. The washing machine in the kitchen needs properly securing as it migrated across the floor when in use. We had to push it back several times.
