The cottage is in an amazing location and guarantees a fabulous week in the beautiful town of Llangollen.
The Owner has thought of everything you will need during your stay, and communication with the Owner is a pleasure.
Highlights are many, but the views and the sound of the river are incomparable!

"The positives of this historic home is the location and outstanding views over the River Dee and the Llangollen Bridge, also being an excellent centre for exploring the wonderful countryside and places of interest."
It is also well equipped and clear that this is a well loved second home for the owners. Thank you for the milk, butter & welsh cakes. On the negative side, apart from one night we were unable to find any parking spaces in the residential area. Would therefore suggest if you are booking this holiday home that you need to be prepared to pay & find a long stay car park in the town. We were extremely fortunate to be offered by one of the local residents use of their private off road parking. I believe without this kind & generous offer it would have made a very stressful holiday knowing that everytime we ventured out on return to Llangollen we would have to find somewhere to park away from the property in a council car park. Also be very aware of the possible hazard of when opening the gate to the property there is an immediate step down. A sign on the gate, to advise of such, is recommended for health & safety reasons
Hi Carol,
Thank you for your feedback.
I am glad you enjoyed the welcome pack and amazing views Church Street cottage gives you.
Unfortunately, Church street parking can be a problem but no one has ever had such an issue as you are painting out. The long stay car park permit had run out before your stay but has now been renewed so available again for guests staying this year as well as the daily Church street car park permit. The long stay car park is 600m away and is £2.50 per night so not such a holiday killer.
It is a good job I have good neighbours who were able to help you out and will do all they can for guests to have a good stay.

"The property is in a great location."
So close to all Llangollen has to offer yet in a quiet part of town. The views from the back terrace are amazing and cannot be ignored in any weather's. However so much more could be done to make this even more appealing. This is also true of the interior of the cottage, a consistent lick of paint and a thorough clean wouldn't go a miss.
The host greeted us on arrival and was very helpful with parking and directions, also local knowledge.
Make the most of the location and its scenery and you won't be disappointed.
Thank-you for the feedback.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I take exception to your feedback score that sent the cottage from excellent 4.8 to Good 4.6
The cottage is not a business but my personal holiday home I rent when not using. The cottage has been made neutral as taste is subjective and the more you put in the harder it is to clean.
A 350 year old house needs lots of attention and this year alone has had new windows in the bedrooms (hence the amazing view from the main bedroom window), replaced fireplace including the flu after a guest destroyed it, roof repair, chimney pointed.
Cleanliness is very important and only last week we had a deep clean including a 3rd party cleaning the oven so I am astonished you marked this so low.
I can only work on the feedback so 'needs a thorough clean' does not help me identify what area was not up to standard. Property Owner

"A really excellent accommodation only a 5 minute stroll away from the centre of unspoilt Llangollen."
We had a wonderful week in the well-appointed and very comfortable cottage which overlooks the River Dee and Llangollen bridge with a stunning view of Crow Castle out of the large Lounge window and the Main bedroom, which was a glorious sight to wake up to every morning. The cottage is furnished to a high standard with every facility you could reasonably wish for. The information pack offers you a wide range of local and regional attractions. The owner really did everything to make us feel at home immediately upon arrival with a lovely box of chocolate biscuits, sourdough bread, milk, tea and coffee waiting for us in the kitchen after our journey there. After just one day there we booked again and can't wait to return in January and look forward to enjoying the log burner ! Regarding local amenities : there's a good selection of restaurants, bars and pubs nearby as well the well-stocked Co-op mini supermarket (only a two-minute walk away). We can't recommend highly enough.

"If you want a holiday home that is clean and welcoming, with more than sufficient amenities if the Welsh weather lets you down, you'll struggle to find many places better in Llangollen."
Don't expect a 5 star hotel as there are minor signs of wear and tear but thren again not only aren't you paying for one but you wont get a real fire and a patio overlooking the Dee in a hotel.
The patio catches the sun and if you're patient the birds are a joy to watch. We saw the normal garden birds, including sparrows, blackbirds and various tit varieties on the patio itself (whilst we were sititng there), and buzzards, swifts/swallows and a kingfisher over the river. Yes, there was an occasional pigeon but you can't get away from those.
The only real downside was the steam railway was temporarily closed and it was difficult to book seats on the horse drawn boats due to Covid restrictions.

Perfect for any a couple or small family. Clean, quiet and comfortable. It's evident the owner has worked hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Only downside if you can call it that is no parking, however you are provided with a permit to park on the road. Neighbours really nice they even moved their own car to help us unload, made us feel very welcome. "The cottage was very conveniently situated with lovely views of the river and castle."
It was spotlessly clean with every convenience that you would need. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for the 3 of us. We were blessed with good weather all week and were thus out most of the time just coming back for meals. The outside patio was a real bonus and the welcome wine and cakes much appreciated.
The only downside was the parking away from the cottage. Luckily we were supplied with a weeks resident vouchers for the road, but there were only about 12 spaces for about 3 times that number of houses. We took the car out once and there was nowhere to park when we came back so had to park in a car park 10 mins away. Needed to move it before 8 am the following morning. We therefore left the car in situ the rest of the week for fear of the same problem recurring.
Due to Covid a number of attractions/eating places were closed but takeaways were open and the area was probably quieter than normal We walked the whole canal towpath from Horseshoes falls to beyond Chirk and back and also up to the Castle twice. Plas Newydd and the nearby Woodland Trust were lovely. The TIC was open intermittently. The station was closed but some shunting was going on and we saw the horse barges practicing ready for reopening. We really enjoyed our 2nd visit to LLangollen and its wonderful scenery.

"Not a problem with the cottage as such but parking is an issue."
It is on the road and requires visitors passes to be displayed in the window of the vehicle. With the current situation, the library where these can be purchased is closed. The owner has left their long stay permit which allows visitors to leave their car overnight in a local car park. Not ideal if you need easy access to your car. Sykes were not very helpful on this matter and we had to speak to the owner directly who couldn’t have been nicer about it. Hopefully this will rectify itself soon.
Otherwise the cottage is lovely, has everything you need and there were some lovely treats waiting for us on arrival which was a nice touch. The location is great and the river side patio doesn’t disappoint. Llangollen itself is a really lovely town with beautiful canal walks, riverside bars, railway and a tough but beautiful climb to the nearby castle. We hope to return again soon!

"Loved the cottage, perfect for our visit."
Very cosy with the log fire burning on a winter evening, still with a river view from the lounge area.
Patio area right down by the river not really used (in February), but would be delightful in summer. The beds were comfortable, and the shower room adequate. We have family in the area, so we are regular visitors and know and love Llangollen.
The only down side is that we were charged the same price for three nights as for seven nights, which I assume is Sykes policy.
