  • "Lovely stay!"

The cottage was warm, cosy and inviting and accommodated our 2 border collies. The back garden is enclosed which is ideal for the dogs. The owners are lovely and so helpful. They were at the cottage very quickly to help with the boiler, that was not working properly after a recent service. There are lovely walks for the dogs close by and good to have the Fox Inn pub next door too. Highly recommended!

  • "We recently enjoyed a 4 night stay at this lovely cosy cottage."

Myself, my husband, our toddler and 2 dogs had a wonderful time, it had everything we needed. The secure outside space was perfect to let the dogs out and for us to watch the nearby ducks and geese. There was a child's playground literally opposite which our little girl loved, and a pub just a few doors down with plenty of outside space for us to enjoy a drink with the dogs in tow. The cottage itself is warm, welcoming and unique. I loved that upstairs was like a mezzanine with the main room just above the downstairs. The beds are comfy and the shower nice and powerful. We explored the local area and the dogs loved Wepre Park just a 15 minute drive away. We also visited Greenwood Forrest which was about 50 minutes drive but worth it as we had a ball and the dogs were fine to come with us. We'll definitely be back, it was a lovely home away from home break. Thank you Jan and Alun

  • "We have just returned from a delightful stay at Northgate Cottage."

Sadly the weather was dreadful with almost constant rain due to the storms. However it was lovely to come back to the cottage which was warm and cosy. Facility wise we had everything we needed. The little touches by Jo and Alun, welcome, mid stay and departure texts and knowing they were available should we need anything (we didn't) just added to the experience. Thank you both for an enjoyable time.

Hi Chris Thank you so much for your kind words! We're delighted you enjoyed your stay despite the weather. Should your adventures bring you back, we look forward to welcoming you again. Warm regards, Jan and Alun Property Owner

  • "We have just returned from a magical holiday in Northgate Cottage."

The weather was far too hot for us and our dog but the cottage (with its thick walls) was always very cool - maybe thicker curtains in the bedrooms would be a good idea though. The cottage was clean and well equipped and the owners kindly gave us some eggs from their chickens (delicious). We were just behind the village pub (spent a very enjoyable evening there, good food and excellent beers). The only time we were disturbed by noises was on the Friday night when the wheelie bins were rolled out passed our bedroom window - apart from the that we slept very well. Unfortunately our dog was sick on the rug on the first night but Jan came over with her steamer and was very understanding about it all. Parking was ok, always plenty of space to park outside the pub (not far from the cottage). Ysceifiog is a charming little village, very peaceful, locals were all friendly and chatty - all in all a very enjoyable holiday.

The garden is secure if your taking your four legged friend surrounded by brick or standard height fence panels with beautiful views across the fields . Pub next door the food is excellent . Walk to lake or nature reserve is steep be warned but worth a bit of effort we also visited Talacre beach which is dog friendly all year unlike some other beaches. Footsteps from the village pub who serve excellent home made meals. Booking advisable. On road parking which was never a problem. Local nature reserve was a haven for our dogs and very quiet. • "Beautiful cottage."

It's clear the owners have put significant effort into ensuring it is a home away from home, lots of nice little touches. The kitchen has everything you will need, we found a pint of milk had been left for our arrival which was lovely, also available were some basic essentials, tea, coffee, sugar, salt and pepper. The cottage is right behind the village pub, even so, we were never disturbed by noise from patrons. We had Sunday lunch there and I would highly recommend. Fresh local produce and very reasonable. Very friendly locals who were keen to share some good local walks. The only things I would suggest would be a softer mattress in the single bedroom and linings for the curtains in the bedrooms, so it is not so bright in the mornings. I would definitely return.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome back again time. Jan and Alun Property Owner

The little things she did made the welcome nice after a drive and traffic. The peace and quiet was lovely along with the view in the kitchen with the door open. Super clean also. The neighbours are very nice and the pub was nice to sit after a long walk. The food is great and going back to the cottage to sleep in a comfy clean bed made an end to a perfect day. My only recomendation would be black out curtains in the bedroom, as soon as the sun comes up it let's in a lot daylight. If that is the only thing I can say then it's clear we will definitely be going back again. Beautiful area, lovely locals and great hosts.
