  • "This property itself was really lovely."

You could see that the owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make it comfortable. It was very clean. All the pillows had covers under the pillowcases, the duvets were spotless, the kitchen and bathrooms were clean. What let this property down and the reason I am not rating it as five star for everything is the beds. They were DREADFUL. My husband had to put the mattress on the floor in order to be able to sleep. Not one of the five of us were able to sleep comfortably on the beds. They are metal frames with bars across and you can feel this through the mattresses. It's a shame because, otherwise, the property was absolutely wonderful. I would also recommend to put some sort of table in the basement and the upstairs bathrooms so people have somewhere to put their toiletries.

Hello Sorry to take so long to respond to your feedback but I’m not too technical. Thank you so much for all your positive comments. I’m so sorry you found the beds uncu . As we’re new at this we value your comments immensely. We will be changing the beds for next season and we’re grateful to you bring it to our attention. I hope you can give us another go next year I promise the beds will be improved Thank you Julie Property Owner

  • "Julie the owner is super helpful and overall the place is lovely but some points to note are guests need better guidance around recycling/rubbish as an avid recycler I found I had no option but to put everything in the same bin."

The beds were not that comfy and the lack of air (on the ground floor only the kitchen window opens, none of the lounge ones would so no air circulating) was difficult, although I appreciate how freakishly hot it was when we were there. The TV is pretty small, seriously you should invest in a bigger TV and it’ll really add to the guest experience, especially if you put one in the games room, a sound system and better usage of the other spare rooms would take it to the next (lucrative) level, hot tub, sauna? Overall, we had a great stay, the pool table and bbq added to the experience. The bathrooms are all AMAZING and there’s nothing more you could ask for in terms of cleanliness or equipment in the kitchen. The games provided were brilliant. Nothing but praise for the lovely owner who I hope will appreciate this really fair and honest feedback x x x

Thank you so much for taking time to give us your feedback. We really appreciate your comments. You were probably one of our first guests and we really wanted to hear your thoughts. We have taken your comments on board especially regarding the recycling. It would be great to see you again so you can see what we’ve done. Thank you again Julie ❤️ Property Owner

The property

Originally a pharmacy, this fabulous, end-of-terrace cottage lies on the high street of Blaenau Ffestiniog, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park.

An ideal base for an adventure loving group to explore the great outdoors within this beautiful part of North Wales, The Old Pharmacy provides a spacious and comfortable accommodation.

Set over four floors, you enter into the side porch where you can pop off your walking boots and waterproofs before continuing inside.

The first of the two kitchens is found on the ground floor; here you can prepare tasty treats using the supplied essentials before heading into the living/dining room, which was once used as the shop floor, for a competitive evening of board games or a sociable catch-up in font of the TV.

Make use of the handy heated boot room - perfect for securely storing bikes and kayaks and drying out equipment ready for the next day's adventure.

Take the stairs to the basement, offering a unique aspect of the property; with its own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and games room, this area can be used separately from the rest of the house.

The three other bedrooms are all twins and rest on the first floor, with the two front bedrooms enjoying large bay windows where views of the craggy slate hills and distant mountains can be seen.

A final set of stairs leads to a quiet sitting area built into the eaves of the roof, perfect for a private read, while there is also a refreshing bathroom with bath and separate walk-in shower.

Begin each morning with a coffee in the courtyard before strolling the Highstreet in search of ingredients for a hearty breakfast.

There is plenty to do in Blaenau Ffestiniog, from the walking and cycle trails to the steam railway line, and popular underground slate caverns, all within easy walking distance.

Venture into the depths of the National Park, with Snowdon Peak just 7.5 miles away, to find ample opportunities for walking, cycling and horse riding, with an abundance of mountain peaks to tackle, well-worth the ramble for their rewarding views, while the Zip World Titan provides an exhilarating zip line experience at speeds of up to 70mph.

A scenic drive away are the famous Coed-y-Brenin and Betws-y-Coed mountain bike trails.

You are also within reach of Portmeirion, an attractive Italianate-style village boasting character and charm, as well as Colwyn Bay, offering a memorable day out by the coast.
