Comfortable and lovely cottage with a very powerful shower! Beds were firm but comfortable for us and there is a lovely bakery just a few yards away. Parking is a big problem. The drive is shared and extremely narrow and leads to the garages for a collection of houses. You cannot park in front of the garage allocated to you as we discovered when a rather fierce lady came and told us so! If you have a mini or Fiesta sized car you can park in the garage and get down the drive. We had to pay in pay and display at the bottom of the hill. (£3.50 per day) and drop my 83 year old mother off first. There is NO roadside parking unless you count the road opposite where you can park for maximum of 45 mins per day between 8am to 6pm.

The property

Sitting in a prominent position within the centre of the mediaeval market town of Ruthin is Clwyd Bank, a wonderful timber framed 17th century house.

Situated within striking distance of the Snowdonia National Park, Chester and the North Wales coast, this property is an ideal base for those wishing to explore the beauty and diversity of this area.

The property is a perfect base for family gatherings and those who enjoy walking holidays. As you walk through the front door you will be charmed by the sympathetic blend of historic features with an elegant mix of stylish interior design.

Look forward to sinking into the sofas in the evening within the sitting room, where the entire family can enjoy a family favourite film before the designated chef can rustle up a tasty meal within the amply equipped kitchen.

Enjoy your meals in the formal dining room where you will be delighted with the furnishings which are in keeping with the wonderful history of the cottage.

After a busy day exploring the stunning countryside or the historic buildings within the town, retire to one of the three bedrooms, comprising of two king-size double bedrooms and a family bedroom, with a king-size bedroom and two single beds, ideal for those with young children.

Enjoy a spot of alfresco dining in the private courtyard garden, where you can enjoy a refreshing beverage whilst soaking up the sun.

If you don’t fancy cooking one evening, a leisurely stroll will bring you to a wealth of pubs and restaurants, with something to suit all, as well as an abundance of shops where you can pick up any holiday essentials.

For a taste of local history you can visit Ruthin Castle where you can explore the gardens, ruins and woodland and admire the famous peacocks.

Venture out towards Llangollen, where you can enjoy a challenging walk along the Horseshoe Pass with dramatic and breath-taking scenery.

Alternatively, the city of Chester is within 20 miles of the property, again a city of great historical interest, great shopping and of course a fabulous race course.

Clwyd Bank offers an idyllic base for a family looking to explore the abundance of things to do in the area.

About the location

Llangollen 12 miles; Bala 18.5 miles; Chester 25 miles; Betws-y-Coed 30 miles.

The hilltop town of Ruthin lies to the north of Llangollen via the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass. The town is picturesque with attractive half-timbered buildings, mainly clustered around St Peter’s Square. There are many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are the coast, Snowdonia National Park and historic Chester.
