Ruthin is a wonderful place to visit and Crannog is a great base. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and great shower. Clean and tidy, fresh and crisp bed linen.

Facilities were good and met all our needs for a really enjoyable short break. Depending on your car, the drive very narrow making parking difficult so would recommend using the nearby roads.

Photos don’t do it justice. Very spacious, clean, bright and perfect for a big family needing a base to explore north wales. Faye was helpful throughout, even offered extra towels mid stay. Kitchen had everything we needed. Highly recommend! ( driveway is very tight but a huge bonus in a town centre position) we will definitely book again next time we are in this beautiful location! X
"Crannog is a lovely house in a great location."
It provided us with enough space for a home from home experience. The shower was lovely. We appreciated the clean linen and offer of a house clean half way through our two week stay. The owners were very helpful. Something to develop in future would be the garden and providing furniture to dine outside which would make a big difference as the garden is a good size. We will be staying again.

Nestled in the Clwydian Hills, in the small market town of Ruthin, is this fabulous semi-detached property, located in a quiet spot but is just a stone’s throw away from the local shops and restaurants.
Crannog is a perfect fit for a family of seven looking to embark on a countryside retreat, or a rabble of ramblers ready to embark on the Llandegla Moors and the like, whilst still being within reach of a host of amenities.
After a busy day be welcomed into the relaxing sitting room where a collection of sumptuous leather armchairs and a sofa await you to wind down, opposite the rustic, red brick fireplace which is home to a woodburning stove, and the TV for entertainment; on summer days open up the patio doors and let the summer breeze come into this light and bright room.
Spend most of your time within the social hub of the home, the kitchen/diner, where a dining table enjoys a quirky church pew bench on one side, sat within the beautiful bay window overlooking the fields beyond, it provides a delightful backdrop to an evening of fabulous food and conversation.
The sleek monochrome kitchen is a unique space offering a fantastic array of appliances for you to cook up a delicious dish, including an impressive electric range cooker complete with an eight-ring gas hob!
Once you're ready to turn in for the night, travel upstairs and discover three lovely bedrooms; choose from the double, the twin, or the triple bunk room, all featuring crisp bed linen and ample furnishings for storing your things.
Use the P-shape bath to enjoy an indulgent soak, or take a shower with the amazing rainfall shower attachment overhead to freshen up for the day ahead.
Step outside and find a host of activity on your doorstep, a short stroll up the hill will bring you to the centre of Ruthin where shops and pubs, alongside various local businesses provide all you need for an excellent self-catered stay.
Cyclists will love the surrounding area, with a great route to be found along the Horseshoe Pass and into Llangollen, while walkers can enjoy the numerous walking and hiking opportunities around the area, including the Offa's Dyke and the vast Llandegla Moors, both offering beautiful scenery.
Head down to Bala for a fantastic experience at the lake where you can take part in watersports such as canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing, to name a few!
A host of other attractions can be found within the Snowdonia National Park, as well as many well-documented walking routes to explore.
Crannog is a delightful property, perfectly place for discovering the best of North Wales.

Llangollen 12 miles; Bala 18.5 miles; Chester 25 miles; Betws-y-Coed 30 miles.
The hilltop town of Ruthin lies to the north of Llangollen via the breathtaking Horseshoe Pass. The town is picturesque with attractive half-timbered buildings, mainly clustered around St Peter’s Square. There are many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park and Clocaenog Forest close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are the coast, Snowdonia National Park and historic Chester.
