  • "Perfect as usual"

    Reviewed by MikeDec 2023

  • "We were absolutely delighted with the standard of cleaning, furnishings and kitchen supplies ."

The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure that you love their cottage and to feel comfortable from the minute you walk through the door. We managed 4 great walks straight from the door. Normally we would walk every day but the weather was dreadful. We ate at the Ship Inn , half a mile away from the Cottage. There are pictures of the usual pub grub on Google, however when we arrived we discovered it is now Tapas which is served. Very delicious. We did find that everyone we passed in the area were very friendly .

  • "The cottage originally would have been to a very good standard, however, now it is tired."

This was the second time we’ve stayed in this cottage and the cleaning level has slipped, in the bathroom the shower curtain is black along the bottom edge and the extraction fan has dirt hanging from it. This is concerning as there are already maintenance problems with the bath.

Beautifully renovated. Very comfy beds.Very good central heating. Negative comments (of minor nature) No tea-pot, somewhere to hang wet clothes? Wood from garages not best for wood burner, recycling bins would be useful, knife sharpener needed. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and felt “very at home” in the cottage! Many thanks to the owners!

The beds are so comfortable felt like the pillows enveloped me! This is the cleanest and best property we have stayed in and would love to revisit in warmer months. The only suggestions I would make is when you redo the bathroom just have a shower as the spa bath experience wasn’t good as have to have so little water and spa didn’t stay on had to keep pressing so I gave up as was cold. Also perhaps recycling bins as I recycle a lot of my rubbish usually Things to note for visitors is everything closes on Mondays, all shops pubs and restaurants so prepare in advance Local pub opens at 5pm and serves good food

Extremely comfortable with everything you need. It is in the little hamlet of Edern on a very quiet lane so peaceful with a great pub and little shop an easy walk. Also very close to slightly bigger Morfa Nefyn. The beaches in the area are superb and can be reached by foot if you are a fit walker or park in the National Trust car park that brings you closer to the beach and the Ty Coch pub on the beach. Can really recommend both this holiday area and the cottage itself.

It was great to light the wood burner and relax after being out walking for the day. The house was well equipped, local garage sold logs for the wood burner, general store/butchers and the pub only a couple of minutes away. The beds were so comfy we had trouble getting out of them most mornings! We will definitely be staying here again. The only thing I can pick fault with are the sofas are a little uncomfortable but the one in the dining room is really comfy. And to be honest even that didn't impact us in any way. Highly recommended this property!

It would have been good if there had been some fresh milk on arrival rather than sachets and there wasn’t enough tea and coffee for our 3 night stay but thankfully we had brought our own. The cottage was lovely and clean. The road it sits on was really quiet too. One of the sofas in the living room does need replacing. We would definitely stay there again though. It’s a perfect location to visit the llyn and a fab spar shop only down the road which has everything you can think of!

  • "The contract cleaners who I was told by Sykes were part of Sykes team did not leave the house as clean as on our previous stay Oct 2020."

We had to wash all the cutlery and some utensils plus rice steamer, the hard floors had not be swept properly, under the couch in the main lounge we found over 20 dead woodlice and live ones on the walls. We think they were coming from the wood store basket. The towels did not feel clean and when we opened them up they all had stains on them, looked like makeup or false tan (not good during Covid) we rewashed them on a hot wash they felt better but the stains were still there, we also had to wash the throw cushions on the sofas in the main lounge because they looked smelled unpleasant and looked grubby, they looked and smelled fresh and clean when they were dried. There was no mattress protector on the bed in the main bedroom. I emailed the owner who replied very quickly and advised me she would look into our concerns immediately and I am certain she did. We like this cottage very much and will definitely come back again this being our second time. Hope the cleaners get a ticking off. It did not spoil our holiday, it is a beautiful cottage and surrounding area.

The garden is safe for children to play and great for sitting in the sun at any time of the day or evening. All home comforts are available, the beds are comfortable (could easily have stayed another week) and there's the added bonus of a jacuzzi bath! It's in a fantastic location. About 30-45 minute walk (depending on distractions!) from the door of the cottage to the Ty Coch pub on Porth Dinllaen. The cottage is on a quiet road and it's easy to walk up to the main road with children and then there's a footpath up to Morfa Nefyn. Also central to explore all the fantastic beaches on the Llyn Peninsula. Slightly longer drive up to Caernarfon, Llanddwyn Island and Llandudno but all easily do-able in a day. I would highly recommend this cottage and have written this review so that others can enjoy it too.

  • "This was a lovely cottage that has obviously had a lot of money spent on it."

Heavily upgraded and lots of great amenities made it a really nice stay. The owners added a lot of extras like WiFi (a life-saver!) kids board games, a DVD collection, Netflix, TV's in every room and lots of information about the local area and attractions etc. The decor and overall cleanliness of the property were fantastic. Off street parking was a great bonus too. My only negative comments would be as follows: The location is a decent drive from anywhere except the local beach, so be prepared to use this as a base and drive everywhere. The nearest supermarket is 8 miles away in Pwllheli. The local pub (The Ship Inn, the only one close-by) doesn't allow children after 5pm, so we ended up cooking a lot of our evening meals at the cottage (which was fine), and my only beef about the house, a few extra towels (and maybe some beach towels) would have been nice and there was no coffee maker! But those are all small things and we loved it otherwise. The local area is gorgeous! Highly recommended!
