“We had a lovely time at Underlea.”

The house was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed. It was warm, comfortable and spotless.

The house was absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed. It was warm, comfortable and spotless. We were pleasantly pleased with the weather so we could enjoy the garden and found a great place to walk the dogs “Pickering Pastures” and spent time walking along the estuary. We had a day at Chester and a visit to Liverpool. All in all Underlea was perfect and will look forward to returning in the future. The lovely owners were always available if needed.

The property

Situated on a quiet country lane, on the outskirts of the rural village of Hale, in Merseyside, is this quintessentially English cottage.

A chocolate-box property boasting lovely period features, including a traditional Norfolk reed thatched roof set in ever-changing landscaped gardens, with a plethora of colour making it an ideal place to sit out of an afternoon or early morning with a refreshing beverage.

Step into the spacious lounge, where you can spend your evening with your loved ones relaxing in front of the TV and can catch up with all your favourite shows, with the delightful warming electric wood burner to keep you toasty during those chilly evenings.

The dining area also houses an electric wood burner, so you can have family gatherings at the table over a hearty meal and a glass of chilled wine, as you catch up on the day's events.

The kitchen has been fitted to a high standard and houses a range of contemporary appliances, so you can easily rustle up a delicious meal.

Resting alongside the lounge is a spacious king-size bedroom, boasting an en-suite shower room, ideal for those with limited mobility.

The first floor offers three further bedrooms, a super king-size, king-size and a double, while the master offers an en-suite bathroom with deluxe fixtures and fittings, so you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the tub after a long day sightseeing.

Hale Village is ideally placed within reach of the thriving city centre of Liverpool, boasting its historic Royal Albert Dock, dating back to the Victorian era and Grade I listed, a lively place with a selection of pubs and restaurants for fine dining, not to mention the famous Tate museum.

Inside, you will find a range of contemporary art from well-known artists, with themed displays that change regularly.

Venture towards the magnificent Cavern Club, an intimate local pub with associations to the Beatles, still popular to this day and continually hosting live-acts.

The city is home to two football stadiums, Goodison Park and Anfield, if you're in the area when a football match is on, or you can delight in the nearby historic buildings of St George's Hall, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the Walker Art Gallery, with so much history inside, you won't want to leave!

If you fancy a day at the beach, then travel into the lovely peninsula of Wirral, resting on the other side of the River Mersey, to New Brighton Beach, which boasts a lengthy promenade, which would be perfect for those keen walkers and cyclists, with stunning sea views reaching across to the distant Liverpool City Centre.

Also nearby is Formby Beach, Halebank duck decoy for those who are keen bird watchers, is on the Pennine Way for ramblers, and close to Hale Shore beach/lighthouse.
