  • "Hi. Firstly I don’t appreciate your aching out to me 9 hours after I’ve left having been waiting for you for so long."

I have also filed a complaint of my own because of how terrible our stay was due to heavy infestation from daddy long legs and the fact we had no AC. I also have paid extra for insurance and am eagerly awaiting pictures of this ‘damage’ which has appeared. Especially given we called our for you so many times yesterday but no one responded from your property. The property was cleaned as best as we could with everything binned correctly. And the cottage was NOT in a filthy state and I have evidence of this. The cottage was infested with daddy long legs and j was told by the owner not to have the lights turned on at night as well as not to open the door, yet no AC was available. I had to sleep in the van for 3 nights because of the number of daddy long legs attacking us - this place should not be put up for rent!!!

  • "This can be published: It’s our second time visiting this property and we were just as impressed this year as last year."

The location, facilities, layout of rooms, quality of fixtures & fittings, and standard of cleanliness are all fantastic. We’re looking forward to coming back for a third visit next year. This is suggestion only for the owners: we were lucky to get great weather again this year - which lead to this suggestion: it may be worth adding blinds to the kitchen doors so guests have the option of shutting out some of the brightness when needed. This is for Sykes: we’ve looked ahead to book again for next year, but it shows that all of 2024 is unavailable but 2025 is available - is this an error? We’d like to book for 2024.

It was a wonderful week, and I don't know how to thank the owners enough for having rented us their beautiful house! We are a family of 6, father, mother and 4 grown-up children, and there was a lot of space for all of us. Here is a list of some of the things we appreciated: - the kindness of the owners, their welcome wine and cakes, their responsiveness, their prompt feedback, etc... - the incredible cleanness of the house! Literally everything was shining, spotless clean! - the amazing facilities of the house, from the beautiful hot tub to the comfy mattresses, from the useful room furniture to the nice sofas in the living, from the large space in the utility room to the abundant cutlery , etc - the beautiful landscape and the views from the house and the terrace …and I could continue listing all the wonderful features of this house. But the most important thing is that we were happy there, and the house greatly contributed to our happiness. Thanks again to the owners!

Some points to consider to enhance future stays….replace the kitchen knife set, they are blunt with broken tips, also could benefit with better utensils. Replace the batteries in the kitchen scales! Replace the clothes drying rack and refill the matches to light the fire! The two grey sofas in the kitchen are well used and uncomfortable, and address the houseflies in the bedrooms! Overall, the house was clean and tidy, we enjoyed our stay.

The property

Henllan 0.8 miles.

A spacious and luxuriously-appointed detached house with a hot tub, nestled in a beautiful rural location in the heart of the Denbighshire countryside, close to the village of Henllan just a short drive away from the bustling market town of Denbigh.

With stunning views across the valley to the pretty village of Henllan and access to the Clwydian Way footpath, this special property is perfect for a family or a group of friends who are looking to holiday in these excellent surroundings.

Completely refurbished to a superbly high-standard, this former farmhouse has been cleverly extended to make room for all of your party.

With the ground floor benefiting from underfloor heating, everybody can gather in comfort in the contemporary open plan living area, where the chefs amongst you can demonstrate your culinary skills in the exceptionally well-equipped and sleek kitchen.

Meanwhile, the rest of the party can swap stories around the dining table or relax in the comfortable sitting area, complete with a warming woodburning stove for the chillier months and bi-fold doors, just waiting to be thrown open to the countryside beyond when the weather’s sunny and bright.

A further sitting room provides a cosy snug to retreat to in the evening, benefitting from a Smart TV with Netflix so you’ll always find a film to watch or why not catch up on the latest episode of your favourite TV programme.

Upstairs are four well-appointed and tastefully-decorated bedrooms, all boasting far-reaching pastoral views and contemporary features, including stripped floorboards and exposed brick walls, whilst the master bedroom also benefits from a spacious en-suite shower room.

There’s also a shower room on the ground floor, as well as a first floor bathroom for added convenience, both of which echo the luxurious and contemporary décor present throughout this special property.

If you can be tempted to step outside, you’ll find a large raised patio area from which you can enjoy panoramic countryside views whilst watching your children playing on the climbing frame, before taking a scenic walk along the Clwydian Way, finishing off at the local pub for a warm and hospitable welcome.

Tweedmill Shopping Outlet is also well within reach, ideal for those looking to indulge in some retail therapy, as are the striking ruins of Denbigh Castle, where your children can let their imaginations go wild as they explore this medieval fortress.

About the location

HENLLAN

Denbigh 2.5 miles; St Asaph 5 miles.

The small North Wales village of Henllan is situated between Denbigh and the Diamond Jubilee City of St Asaph. The village offers a shop/Post Office and a pub, which serves good food. St Asaph was awarded city status in 2012 and is best known for its magnificent white cathedral. In September, the city comes alive with the arrival of the North Wales International Music festival, which takes place across numerous locations, culminating for the last few years in a television finale, broadcast from the cathedral. Nearby Denbigh dates back to the 11th century and boasts the remains of a 13th century castle, perched on a steep hill above the town, with its stunning castle walls walk and commanding some superb views over the surrounding countryside. The town is seeped in Welsh culture and boasts itself as the home of many Welsh literary giants, including 17th century poet and author, Twm o’r Nant, famous for performing his light-hearted ‘anterliwtiau’ interludes or short plays in the area, famous 19th century printer Thomas Gee who established the well-known Gee Press works in the town, and more recently home of the ‘queen of our literature’, Kate Roberts. Denbigh is a busy little town, with a variety of shops and pubs, and a number of events including walking festivals, beer festivals, the Denbigh and Flint Annual Show, the Clay Art Potters Market and a monthly People's market. Henllan is a superb touring base for discovering the sights and history of the Clwydian Range’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, plus the stunning lakes of Llyn Brenig and Llyn Alwen, a haven for cycling, mountain biking, walking and fishing in North Wales. You are also within easy reach of Conwy, Llandudno, Snowdonia, Angelsey and Chester.
