  • "We stayed at Tywysog for a long weekend as a family group to celebrate our daughter's 40th birthday."

The house was fantastic, spotlessly clean, spacious and the owners had thought of and provided everything we needed for a fabulous stay, including a much appreciated welcome pack. On first entering the property you come across the kitchen which is huge and a real wow factor, including the Aga which provided a lovely warm welcome and toasty morning breakfasts, a real hub of the house. All of the bedrooms were spacious, comfortable and perfectly presented, the bathrooms were spotlessly clean and warm. There was ample space for everyone to really chill out across the two living rooms and enjoy fun times in the games room. We had a great stay, lots of family time, one to remember, thank you.

Found the house after a couple of wrong turns and about 10 minutes to the Morrisons in the village. All in all we had a great time only problem we had was my heavenly pregnant daughter in law found the king size mattress was a little too hard. Good location would definitely go back.

We were delighted when we arrived as it’s more impressive in person than in the photos which was a lovely surprise ( as the pics were pretty impressive ). The kitchen had everything we needed including BBQ. Slight issue with one shower which the owner sorted promptly and we could only get one TV to work properly however this wasn’t an issue for us and we had the best time and would love to stay here again. 10/10 from the Rush family xx

Only issue is the sat nav listing sends you elsewhere.

Thank you for your feedback, it is appreciated. Unfortunately, in a rural area, many farms have the exactly the same postcode. That is the reason we give detailed directions via Sykes, plus ask guests to contact us for key collection, before arrival, so we can re-iterate this point. We also give guests the option of ringing us direct, if they need to be guided in, closer to the property. Thanks again for visiting and for your lovely feedback. Property Owner

The property exceeded our expectations, all the rooms were large especially the massive living kitchen in which we all spent a lot of time, it was a family holiday ranging 4 years to the 70s and everyone had a great time from playing in the games room and the table tennis room to the older members relaxing in either lounge in the evening, beautiful garden with seating was used lots soaking up the sunshine, a welcome tray with milk, coffee, eggs etc. was a nice surprise, the owner was very friendly , when the shower had a broken part he fixed it straight away .

The owners were very kind to show us the calves feeding. Everything was great. The rest are minor points: for future reference the house would benefit from a downstairs loo, one of the double beds could be zip&link so can be separated as twin beds. On an even more minor note a toast rack would be good! But as I said, the house and location are wonderful, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely

  • "Tywysog is a beautiful location and house."

It has everything you need to cater for a large gathering. We had a lovely stay, finding everything we needed. The owners are on site and are so helpful, whilst leaving you to enjoy your stay in privacy. The stairs are steep and both bathrooms are upstairs so it's not a house for those with any mobility issues. The log fires were very welcome during our stay in January as its a big house and difficult to heat. The kitchen had every single cooking pan and instrument we needed for our meals and cooking on an aga was a new experience. The broadband was good when we arrived but a storm caused it to stop working. The owners supplied a Vodafone dongle and I managed to work from this for a couple of days. The 4g signal is quite good on site if a bit patchy in the house.

  • "The pictures don't do this house justice."

It is a lot nicer and bigger than it looks on all the photos. It's so peaceful where it is. Don't forget to arrive fully stocked with food and drink as it's a good 20mins drive from anywhere to stock up on things like that. There is plenty of storage in the house for all of your. The owners who live on the farm next door are such nice people and couldn't do enough to help us in anything we needed. I can't recommend this home highly enough. We stayed for my wifes 40th and there were 10 of us in total. My little boy loved it because he could play hide and seek in the big house. He also loved the little playroom. All the adults raved about the property.

Everything was larger than expected, as soon as we entered the kitchen, we knew we'd made the right choice, the heart of the house. Great for families, the children loved it, their own 'snug' with TV and sofa, as well as 2 other huge lounges. The bedrooms were all large and comfortable. The setting is spectacular, ideal for relaxing. Again the kids loved it and could explore, the perfect adventure for them. All the resorts are in easy reach. The week flew past, a great holiday!

At 75 years old I found it a nuisance having to go up stairs to the toilet. There was 10 of us and just 2 bathrooms. The house and surroundings are lovely. We had a really thoughtful greetings pack, which was lovely when we arrived, also very thoughtful, milk in the fridge. We had a lovely stay. Many thanks.

The kitchen is amazing and where we spent most of our time. (The rest of the house is lovely too but why leave the kitchen?) It had everything we needed for cooking and eating. Beds were really comfortable and the whole house was clean as whistle. We didn't lack anything and when we had a problem with the shower it was quickly resolved by the lovely owners who obviously care that their guests enjoy their stay. Only downside is the WiFi is slow but we were aware of that and it was actually lovely to be disconnected! Highly recommended.

We received a very friendly welcome and the kids were delighted with the offer to meet some of the animals. Only “downside” is the stairs for those with small children (which we knew about before we went) as they are windy and steep but we solved for that with additional stair gates to those that had already been provided. A really wonderful house. Thank you.

With two lounges (one with log burner and another with an oil burner, fuel supplied for both) a kitchen big enough to sit 10-12 people around it and walls thick enough to make a bit of noise at the back of the property, we had a great weekend here. The walk to the nearest pub was a good 30-35min, but surely a decent walk is a good thing? Sadly I wasn't able to meet the owner myself, but the guys who arrived at the property first said he was very friendly and helpful. I am definitely looking forward to the next good reason to rent this property again for the weekend. It is perfect for parties or family get togethers. Thank-you for a weekend to remember!

The property

Henllan 2 miles.

This is a superb, spacious farmhouse, located in the heart of grazing farmland, two miles from the pretty hamlet of Henllan, in the unspoilt Denbighshire countryside.

Not many properties are accessed down a drive of 0.75 miles, but as you approach this impressive 16th century farmhouse you will be wowed by its appearance.

Located within the boundaries of the owner's 53-acre livestock farm, and surrounded by grazing fields, this fantastic semi-detached farmhouse has been lovingly maintained to retain many of its original character features such as oak joists and original doors and window shutters.

This wonderful house offers a fantastic destination for friends and family to enjoy.

The accommodation is spread over three floors, with three different staircases to access the bedrooms which comprise a double, a twin and a king-size bedroom on the first floor and two double bedrooms up a separate staircase on the second floor, making it ideal for two families who may want their own areas.

The spacious fitted kitchen houses a large farmhouse dining table and separate seating area, as well as the original restored bread oven and kitchen range, but only as features of interest, as there is an oil-fired AGA and combination microwave oven for all your cooking needs.

The friendly, Welsh/English speaking owners have lovingly decorated and furnished this beautiful house to retain the character of the period with a welcoming sitting room warmed by a woodburner set in a large inglenook fireplace, along with a formal parlour with additional heating from an oil stove shouldered by two church pews to provide an intimate conversation area.

The children have their own play room with media and gaming TV, and there is an external games room with table tennis and table football, where you can hold your very own championship tournaments with your fellow holidaymakers.

Downstairs, all rooms have TVs.

The gardens are located in delightful woodland surroundings, with unspoilt views across farm fields, and they allow you to spend days simply relaxing, enjoying the peace and quiet of the area.

For the walkers in the party, the farmhouse benefits from doorstep paths leading from the fields and joining up with the nearby Clwydian Way and leading to Denbigh, just four miles away, meaning that you can take the time to explore the scenic countryside all around the house.

Whatever your holiday desire, you will find it at this fantastic holiday farmhouse, and a warm Welsh welcome awaits you - Bydd croeso cynnes Cymreig yn eich aros yma yn Tywysog.

About the location

HENLLAN

Denbigh 2.5 miles; St Asaph 5 miles.

The small North Wales village of Henllan is situated between Denbigh and the Diamond Jubilee City of St Asaph. The village offers a shop/Post Office and a pub, which serves good food. St Asaph was awarded city status in 2012 and is best known for its magnificent white cathedral. In September, the city comes alive with the arrival of the North Wales International Music festival, which takes place across numerous locations, culminating for the last few years in a television finale, broadcast from the cathedral. Nearby Denbigh dates back to the 11th century and boasts the remains of a 13th century castle, perched on a steep hill above the town, with its stunning castle walls walk and commanding some superb views over the surrounding countryside. The town is seeped in Welsh culture and boasts itself as the home of many Welsh literary giants, including 17th century poet and author, Twm o’r Nant, famous for performing his light-hearted ‘anterliwtiau’ interludes or short plays in the area, famous 19th century printer Thomas Gee who established the well-known Gee Press works in the town, and more recently home of the ‘queen of our literature’, Kate Roberts. Denbigh is a busy little town, with a variety of shops and pubs, and a number of events including walking festivals, beer festivals, the Denbigh and Flint Annual Show, the Clay Art Potters Market and a monthly People's market. Henllan is a superb touring base for discovering the sights and history of the Clwydian Range’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, plus the stunning lakes of Llyn Brenig and Llyn Alwen, a haven for cycling, mountain biking, walking and fishing in North Wales. You are also within easy reach of Conwy, Llandudno, Snowdonia, Angelsey and Chester.
