  • "Lovely warm welcome."

We were shown around and the heating was explained as its on a thermostat easy to use but already on settings to come on and off. Amazing welcome hamper biggest we've had. Comfortable bed, warm and cosy accommodation, loved watching the birds on the feeders, great views. Check out the pub website before going as closed on certain days so we didn't get a chance to visit it. Lots of places to visit and only a short drive, Shrewsbury is a must.

Thank you for your lovely feedback Tracey We hope you had a good trip home Barbara Property Owner

  • "Our hosts kindly provided a very comprehensive welcome pack on arrival."

We had to ‘google’ how to work the central heating but once operational it proved to be very efficient. Water pressure was low so would benefit from an ancillary pump for the shower. All in all, Albeba provides spacious accommodation in a quiet location ideally situated to explore Shrewsbury and surrounding tourist attractions.

Thank you for the positive comment about the welcome pack which we do for all of our guests. Advice was given on where to find the instructions for the central heating and other equipment, we are also live next door and are contactable by phone so there was no need to google the information There is no need for an ancillary pump to the shower and this has been checked with our plumber. We are saddened that the visitors marked us down in all areas without any explanation Property Owner

I am so sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at Albeba. The bungalow is deep cleaned after each letting and if you had any problem we would have been pleased to sort them out for you as we only live next door. There was no need for you to purchase cleaning materials. Towels are renewed regularly as is the bedding . The bins are emptied after each. visit and fresh liners are put in them. The bathroom was only refurbished 4 years ago as was the kitchen. The lane to the property is just that a lane and not adopted by the council and not owned by us. Property Owner

  • "Stayed for a month."

The property was too cold to stay in during the winter. The owner had installed thermostats in each room which were a couple of degrees below what would be comfortable and although we could have adjusted them, the smart meter indicated a weekly usage of around £130 on average so we left them at the set temperature whilst putting rooms we weren’t using on the frost setting. The kitchen utensils and cook ware were not in good condition and the only frying pan was tiny. Some cutlery had to be cleaned prior to use. The cupboards next to the oven smelt awful - probably due to dampness. Wi-Fi signal variable. The hot water pressure was too low and suffered from air locks (we were advised not to run kitchen and bathroom hot taps at same time - not a user friendly arrangement). Towels tiny and in any case, nowhere to dry them. We bought our own bath towels and had to tumble dry them. The access road (approx 100 metres) to the property is riddled with pot holes! Spare bedding stored in main bedroom in a wardrobe next to bed with mould on the wall. Vacuum cleaner left full of rubbish. Electrical items out of date on the PAC testing. Overall, we believe this property should not be let in the winter months due to the heating issues and is not desirable at any time of the year for the reasons stated.

  • "We spent four nights at Albeba while visiting friends and relatives in the area."

The detached cottage is situated at the cul-de-sac end of an unmade road, with parking opposite the cottage. It's a very quiet location. The owners, Neil and Barbara, live next door. They left us a lovely hamper for our arrival with some essentials for breaksfast. There are supermarkets not too far away for other shopping. Albeba is a comfortable well equipped bungalow; albeit a little 'dated', but that's part of its charm. The garden at the back, with a lovely view, would be a lovely place to sit on a warm day or in the conservatory if it's not so warm outside. The beds are some of the most comfortable we have used, and we have stayed in many properties over the preceding decades and tried to sleep on what I would describe as 'boards'! It was a pleasure to wake up refreshed, having slept well. There is no dishwasher, but it wasn't a hardship to wash up. We had an enjoyable, comfortable short break at Albeba. Hint: I would suggest to any prospective visitors, that if you like to use a large bath sheet you take your own as I find that the standard bath towels supplied are too small.

Thank you for your feedback We will get some large bath sheets for the new year It would be helpful to know what the problem was with cleanliness and facilities in order that we can rectify it Barbara Property Owner

  • "A good-sized bungalow, within its own grounds and car parking."

Nice views over towards Longden and beyond from the lounge and garden. Various public footpaths to follow over the fields and along the Rea Brook, starting near the property. Approximately ten minutes by car into Shrewbury town centre, and five minutes to the A5, so easy to get into Telford / Ironbridge / Mid-Wales etc. Beds were comfy. Clean and tidy all through. A decent kitchen with all the appliances you should need, just enough crockery and utensils. Big fridge freezer. Bathroom with shower, but no bath, which didn't really matter, for us. Electric heating in all rooms, but to be fair the place was pleasantly warm without needing it, even for October. First impressions of the bungalow were that it seemed a bit dated, but very quickly we appreciated the layout and quirky areas to sit and enjoy the views and nature in the garden. We loved it by the time we came to leave.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us Look forward to seeing you again Barbara Property Owner

Everything was absolutely perfect. Lovely comfortable home from home and it had everything you could possibly need and more. Fab hamper left to start you off when you get in so you don't have to worry about rushing out for necessities when you get there. The owners, who live nextdoor, where really lovely and nothing was too much bother. Neil even sorted us out some binoculars after a chat about looking at the full moon. Lovely garden with stunning views in the most peaceful setting. And we would definitely highly recommend a trip to the new Inn just down the road for food. Best meal we've had in a pub for a very long time and the landlord couldn't do enough for us. Plenty to do within a short drive too so it's a perfect location to get out and about.
