Very nice welcome pack was enjoyed gratefully. There are many pleasant and easy walks in the area and canal towpaths to explore.Overall a thoroughly enjoyable break and one I was quite sad had to end so soon, I hope to return.

Unfortunately the weather was not very good so we didn’t get the full benefit of the surroundings.

  • "Chestnut Cottage is in a really lovely peaceful location."

It was very clean and comfortable. The beds were comfy. There was washing up liquid, hand soaps, dishwasher tablets, tea towels, towels, iron, hairdryer etc. as well as what was listed. Everything you needed. The owner was very friendly, came to check everything was ok and left us to it. I would definitely stay there again.

  • "A lovely cottage in a country setting ideal for relaxing."

A car is essential for getting out and about. Good dog walks around the fields and lanes. Owners live next door and once they introduced themselves and checked all was OK left us to enjoy the holiday. We had one small issue but it was sorted immediately by them. The small decked area is a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine and chill in the evening sun. If we go back to Shropshire I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Many thanks Alan.

Replaced broken barbecue without asking. Great area for visiting market towns Oswestry, and other places of interest.

  • "Lovely clean neat barn conversion and very dog friendly."

Didn't use the upstairs bedroom in the loft but would be ideal for 2 young children. Kitchen was nicely laid out and ample crockery and utensils. Supermarket was a 10 minute drive to Ellesmere which is a really nice town. Field opposite the barn great for letting the dog have a run and Colemere about 10 minutes away was beautiful. The Boathouse cafe and restaurant at The Mere is great in every way, food, service and location, the staff are so friendly. Can't wait till we move to Shropshire!

  • "A home from home and a whole lot more."

Being greeted with such fantastic surroundings was beyond expectation. Even though we were due to arrive later than expected, everything was arranged for us to start our stay at Chestnut Cottage in a welcoming way from Pete & Jayne. Being greeted by a freshly baked Lemon Drizzle cake was glorious. We were spoiled by the facilities and amenities and would recommend staying here. Close to so many sights and things to see and do helps compliment the whole site. A 5 star place in every way.

Brilliant lemon drizzle cake for when we arrived. Great that the garden was safe and secure for our dog.

  • "Chestnut Cottage is set in a quiet rural location at the end of a gated private drive which is shared with the neighbouring Peartree Cottage."

The cottage was clean and well presented, well equipped and had loads of character. The accommodation is mainly on the ground floor and includes a second bedroom on a mezzanine floor over the kitchen area. The deck and grassed area was equipped with gas barbecue, table and chairs. Our hosts were welcoming without being intrusive and were happy to advise on the local area. The small and charming market town of Ellesmere is just 5 mins drive and has a choice of pubs and restaurants and also a Tesco store. There is massive potential for walking around the series of local meres and canal towpaths. Chestnut Cottage is a great base from which to enjoy the Ellesmere area.

  • "Accommodation was very nice and the dog had a good area to roam around."

Very clean and well equipped, including a lovely sponge cake on the dinning table on arrival. The only problem we had was nothing to do with the accommodation. There are no Bridle Paths or Public Rights of way to walk the dog. However I did drive him to the Mere (lake, 5 minutes), which was lovely for walking the dog.

Would be nice if they had a guest book to leave our comments. Plenty of space in the garden for my dog.

  • "We were surprised that there was no book for comments from the users of the cottage as this often gives an opportunity to recommend places to see or to eat etc."

as well as an easy way of giving tips about using equipment or other items. The weather was good and it was a very quiet location. An enjoyable holiday
