  • "Very quiet and safe neighbourhood."

Good location to reach great sights and activities. Child friendly as advertised. But the bed in the master bedroom could be replaced - to soft and not overly comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was pretty average, and for the price we paid (comparing to other cottages) we did expect better furnishings.

  • "When I booked this house I was aware it was a semi detached property on a housing estate and I was a bit concerned it would be noisy but to my relief it was very quiet."

We could not hear the next door neighbours from inside the house at all. There is a secure summer house in the back garden where we kept our bikes. The side gate also has bolts on it. Everything we needed was in the house and it was spotlessly clean. There were two things we didn’t like. One was the extreme softness of the couch and chairs. You sink to the floor when you sit on them. Secondly the mattresses were very unsupportive and you can hear all the springs pinging when you move about at night. Both of us ended up with very sore backs. The house is ideally situated to cycle alongside the Llangollen canal and a short distance away is the Montgomery canal. An absolutely delightful waterway to cycle by. We also took the train to Shrewsbury from Chirk station. Another excellent day out. The Co-op shop down the road is very well stocked and there are a couple of excellent Indian takeaways too.

  • "We were disappointed to find major building work going on next door."

We were disturbed at 7.00am on Saturday morning by the builders installing steel work. The building work noise also continued in the evenings most days, so we were not able to sit out in the garden even though the weather was sunny. We feel that you let us down by not informing us of this situation at the time of booking. The TV in the lounge at Fairfield is set to high only being about a foot from the ceiling !!

  • "This is the second time I have stayed in Fairfield, it’s always lovely and clean."

And feels very homely. The owners also leave milk and eggs for new arrivals, not many places would do that. I will definitely stay there again.

  • "Excellent hosts."

For me this was a perfect holiday rental. Everything needed to make my stay thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable was provided. The house was very clean, very comfortable, very well furnished (I wasn't bothered by the size of the TV), and is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac within walking distance of local shops (Co-op) and a very good Indian restaurant. The "centre" of Chirk is a bit longer walk with an excellent butchers, bakers and Spar shop. The Hand Hotel is a decent hostillery serving the local Wrexham Lager and very reasonable meals - there are other pubs and eating places as well. I enjoyed reading a couple of the novels provided and used the summer house to have a relaxing read. There's a bus stop close by if you want to use public transport to visit the nearby towns of Wrexham and Oswestry. On arrival I was greeting with a lovely card welcoming me to Fairfield and the milk, eggs, tea and coffee provided made for a nice touch. I would certainly recommend Fairfield and would certainly stay there again without any hesitation whatsoever.

It is a very comfortable 'home from home' in a good location.

  • "Very central for Llangollen and North Wales."

One drawback was that although Chirk is a lovely village there is constant smoke emitting from the chimneys at the Kronospan factory. The house is situated in a very quiet close and no sounds of traffic at all. The owner had left us a welcome letter and milk, eggs and tea and coffee which were appreciated after a long car journey from Kent and Essex.

  • "This was the first time I stayed in a cottage, and I was very pleased with my experience."

It was what I expected from the photos on the site, the only things the site did not state was the property had a washing machine, hair dryer & iron. The owner left us a greeting card which was very nice and there was also fresh milk & eggs in the fridge. The master bedroom was very comfortable, the middle bedroom could have done with some blackout blinds and a more comfortable mattress. The facilities were good, the only thing missing was some fans. It would be nice if checkout was a little later such as 11am, so I wouldn't have had to rush around and enjoyed the last part of my holiday.
