The property

Situated in the village of Llanberis, holding an excellent spot at the foot of Snowdon, is this semi-detached cottage, 9 Yankee Street, offering a wonderful holiday home for a trip to North Wales.

Suited to a group or family of four, this two-bedroom abode benefits from being within this lovely lakeside village, with many tourist attractions nearby.

Head inside your home-from-home and come into the pretty sitting room, where a woodburning stove sits with a rustic stone fireplace will warm you after a brisk winter walk, rest your legs on one of the two sofas and begin to relax into your evening.

Continue into the kitchen/diner, which enjoys a calming colour scheme of pale blue with vibrant teal kitchen units, and warm grey walls in the dining area.

Cook up a delicious dish with the fabulous range of appliances available here, and later serve it on the dining table, a perfect way to enjoy quality time with your loved ones.

On summer evenings, step outside into the enclosed garden and get settled with a refreshing drink on the raised decking, where pretty outdoor fairy-lights create a wonderful atmosphere.

Get that well-earned rest at night in one of the two bedrooms, with a super-king-size (zip/link option can be made as two single beds by prior request) and a twin room to choose from; the super-king is a fantastically spacious room with thoughtful décor and plenty of furnishings for storage, while the twin room is home to two single beds.

Freshen up in the excellent bathroom which not only has a P-shaped bath, perfect for enjoying a long soak, it benefits from a shower over as well.

There's lots of things to do in the area, begin by getting to know the quaint village of Llanberis, take a trip on the Llanberis Railway which runs along the northerly shore of Llyn Padarn, you can view unspoilt woodland and beautiful scenery, or visit Dolbadarn Castle where 13th century tower fort ruins lie, and take a walk around the National Slate Museum for all the history on mining.

Hop on Britain’s only rack and pinion railway to Hafod Eryri, the visitor centre which is set at the summit of Snowdon.

Alternatively enjoy a trek up the famous Snowdon or one of the surrounding small peaks, with endless walking routes and trails freely available.

9 Yankee Street is a wonderful corner to rest in as you explore the wonders of North Wales.

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
