  • "Not very clean with cobwebs everywhere, mould in the shower, toothpaste splashes to wall behind sink, hairs in the sink and in shower, log burner not cleaned with ash left in it, pots/pans and cooking trays are all old with stains all over, yard messy with step ladder/mop/buckets/bin left, rear gate rotten and hard to close, tv doesn’t work very well and kept disconnecting every 10/15 mins, wifi poor, overall the property needs some tlc and a good clean, needs a radio or smart speaker, the list may seem long but all small things which wouldn’t take much then the property would be much more appealing and if all sorted I would stay again as the property is ideally situated and could be really nice, I was a little disappointed on first impressions!"

Hello, thank you for your feedback. We have just got a new housekeeper with aim to improve cleanliness standard. We have tested the internet with TV after troubleshooting and all seems to be working well. I have just replaced pots / pans which were worn. Thank you for suggesting a speaker, this is something I will look to add to the property Property Owner

Lovely cosy cottage for 1 or 2 people. Well equipped, including a hair dryer, which I forgot! Great position for climbing Snowdon. TV is a smart TV. No issues with parking. In Llanberis, the car park opposite Snowdon mountain railway is £12, just passed the Lake railway it’s £6! Will definitely visit again next year.

  • "I had a very pleasant stay!"

Owners have clearly listened to previous complaints, because overall the property was clean (although some dog hair was coming from the rug), with a well equipped kitchen and stocked with some basic amenities (TP, washing up liquid etc.). The only criticism I would have is that some pans are in need of replacing. Although personal preference I found the bed to be comfortable, with a small but serviceable en-suite bathroom. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

  • "Very clean and comfortable cottage."

It felt homely from the moment we arrived. Well appointed and spacious kitchen. In a quiet end of the village with very interesting small paths and woodland close by for dog walks and large hills further afield. Great views. You will need to bring or buy when here consumables such as bin bags, cloths, kitchen roll, extra toilet rolls, kitchen foil, etc, etc, because none are provided. A very heavy winter duvet on the bed and no other bedding options available so we were sweltering during the recent heatwave!! The slate path immediately outside the front door is slippery in the wet - a doormat would help. The carbon monoxide alarm (for the log burner) should be mounted on the lounge wall not tucked away in a kitchen drawer! Would certainly book this one again. A lovely stay, thank you.

  • "At first glance one we finally managed to park up."

Looked nice, and just as the picture. Opened the gate, and the yard is private but really unkept, but as we'd been on the road for just over 4 hours we was needing the loo, got to the toilet and NO toilet paper. Not what you need when busting. After rooting through our bags we'd found some. Then staring to look about the house, kitchen lovely had all you needed and more, very impressed, but I guess that's down to the guests as when you start to look you can tell it needed a very good clean. Cobwebs on every ceiling and skirting boards where thick with dust. The lamp shade was a good 1/2inch thick with dust too. And if you wanted to look out at the amazing view you needed to go outside. The windows looked like they'd not seen a clean since the 15th century. And the TV looked to have been wiped down with the floor cloth it had thick streaks on it. Every wall had rising mold, not good for Asthma sufferers. We then looked at the welcome book. And it then stated that it's pot luck parking.. which was not mentioned when booking when then we considered even not unpacking and going home it was just the icing on the cake. Spent the first nite no sleep the mattress is hard, but that's down to preference, and then contacted Sykes cottages. And I'm still waiting for a response now. I'm happy to be home and in my own bed. We spent most of our time away from the cottage and found Llanberis to be a beautiful place but we'll be booking somewhere else next time.

Perfect for a couple or a solo traveller in a great location for exploring snowdonia. My only 2 small critisms were the bathroom and bedroom could do with a bit of tlc. There was evidence of some mold on the walls and in the shower cubicle which would be easy to make good. Other than that, I had a great stay. Thank you.

Location is absolutely perfect for hiking and easy access to Llanberis, which has everything you need. Main negatives were very poor WIFI, and the pillows were very flat and could do with replacing. We were pleased with the cosy living room and well-equipped kitchen.

  • "Very enjoyable stay in a beautiful location."

I found the cottage idea as we have a young dog . The kitchen is lovely and has every appliance required if you cook daily as we do ... it was also nice and clean . The bed was very comfortable. We did take our own pillows after reading previous comments. The shower was nice and warm with good pressures. The log burner made it so cosy at night time plus the cottage has a good central heating system which was easy to use . The only negatives were the paint work and old furniture are a bit tired looking. The large table in the lounge takes a lot of room. Plus the locals were quite inconsiderate during our stay blocking the entrance into the back completely making it difficult for us to enter the cottage. However I would stay again.

It was perfect for us with the woodburner and the wooden floors made it less stressful for us taking the dog. It had everything we needed for our stay. The enclosed back yard was again perfect for the dog. We have already said we would like to go back later in the year as it's so handy. Thanks for the holiday.

The kitchen had everything we needed. The cottage could do with some decorating. It is at the top of a very steep hill. There is parking at the back of the property shared with next door but is very hard to turn into and uneven so we parked on the road. The cottage was very cold when we arrived and could not find any instructions in the manual. The heating came on and off between 6.30am and 8am and 6pm and 10pm. We did not know if we could boost it between these hours. The log burner was lovely and a supply of logs were left. We enjoyed our stay put recommend you bring a shower mat as the shower is extremely slippery.

I've e-mailed the owner to provide hangers and reported a leak from the skylight in the kitchen. There are some problems regarding mould starting around the windows and the standard of decoration is poor. On the plus side the cottage is in a good location for the centre of Llanberis. The cottage is comfortable and warm. In short you get what you pay for.

Thank you for your feedback. We have a new shower arriving this week. I will replenish the log store and and purchase a new chopping board. I will also put a hanging rail in the bedroom this week as this is a frequent request. We will also look at the dimmer switch. We had issue with the boiler which isocated in a shed attached to property, we had to ring owner to find out where it was as we had no hot water. • "We felt that the owner had done the bare miinimum to pass this off as a holiday cottage."

There were cobwebs all around the windows, screws for coathooks in the back of the door. No where to store dry foods and as you walked into the living room area you were confronted by a mop and bucket, high chair ironing board etc. There was ample room in the kitchen to put a storage cupboard to house these items and with the addition of a huge kitchen table in the living room, we generally felt it was cluttered. There were no refuse bins and we had to contact the owner about this, who eventually provided a metal dustbin bin for the yard. No hanging space in bedroom. That said the shower was great, Such a shame as the cottage has the potential to be a lovely little bolt hole to enjoy the surrounding areas.

Good points: - Great location within walking distance to shops and pubs; - Log burner; - Kitchen has everything you need to make most meals and has a gas hob; - WiFi, although not the best speed, allowed us to stream TV/films; - Clean and tidy on arrival. Very small issues (hence good rating, didn't bother us too much but good to note): - Shower - We could only get the shower to work via the smaller hand held shower head. Partner is 6ft 4 and was looking forward to being able to stand underneath rain shower head. This could be user error but we couldn't get it to work! - Kitchen items - Chopping board and corkscrew were broken; - Recycling - It was a bit confusing as to where the recycling bins were. We found a bin on the parking space around the back but wasn't sure if this could have been a neighbour's or blown in the wind (very windy) as couldn't see house name or number on it; - Welcome booklet didn't explain log useage clearly. We assumed 1 bag but more were left under the stairs and the wording in the booklet could be misinterpreted in our opinion. We replaced an extra bag we used; - It was very cold in the property on arrival (stayed early March) but the heating works quickly! Overall great stay in a cosy cottage, very enjoyable - thank you.

On arriving I found the kitchen cutlery drawer unclean - I cleaned it and the cutlery. The wooden dresser needed much TLC. I also bought oven gloves and a chopping board as I felt those supplied required replaced. The bathroom sink, toilet and shower were clean but that’s really where cleanliness ended. The bathroom door, window ledge and all pipe work were unclean. All radiator were very old and dirty. A second pillow each should really have been supplied. All towels had seen better days. No live TV should be mentioned. I had a lovely week in Llanberris, but sadly I would not return to this property again.

Would be useful to mention about taking smart TV login details with you. No routine TV available. Fortunately we took our firestick which worked well.for us. Bathroom walls could do with a clean particularly around the sink, otherwise we were happy with the general state of cleanliness. It would have been nice if the heating was turned on prior to our arrival, the cottage was very cold when we arrived. A couple of extra pillows on the bed would also be a good idea. TV was freeview play and the only live TV channel we were able to watch was BBC via I player all other channels were catch up only, once again no instructions in cottage manual. There is no hanging space at all, although there probably is no room for wardrobe in bedroom there is room at least for a hanging rail of some sort, however the biggest issue is the disposal of rubbish, there were no recycling bins in yard as instructed in cottage manual and we could not find any bin with 21 on as instructed in cottage manual, saying that we will go back but these things should be addressed

About the location

LLANBERIS

Caernarfon 7 miles; Bangor 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 17 miles.

Dominated by the grandeur of the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a mecca for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train via the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year, a triathlon known as the world's toughest, and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26-mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. The area is also popular for mountain biking, open water swimming and stand up paddle boarding. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 7 miles from Llanberis on the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Gardens.
