“2 WEEKS WALES HOLIDAY IN A LOVELY COTTAGE”
I had 2 weeks holiday in Wales in August-September 2019, and booked this cottage already in January. It is rather an annexe next to the owners house, and at the entrance of a small holiday caravan park. End of a track from the main road. Parking is on the front, a nice hall with washing machine/tumble dryer, storage, then an open plan living room and kitchen. Very spacious with french door to the small garden/sitting area. From the living room a short corridor leads to the bathroom with bath, and to the bedroom. The bedroom also has bathroom with shower and french door to the same small garden. Behind that french door is the hot tub, which is nicely separated from the owners garden and very private, so it is not overlooked from anywhere. Because I travelled myself, I could take off the cover but was not able to put it back to the tub alone, and so the owners offered me to text them if it needs to put back. Then later they came over in their secret fence-gate to do it, but they were always invisible. Very friendly and helpful couple, they changed for me the mattress after 2 nights, when I complained that it was too soft for me, and they were always at hand any time if I needed something.
The cottage and the holiday park is in a nice area, fields around and lovely mountain view everywhere. There is a working saw-mill upper on the track, so we can hear that working during the day. But because during the day most of us are away seeing attractions, so it is not an issue, and anyway it is not that noisy what could disturb me. (though I'm coming from next to Heathrow and a dual carriageway, so a saw-mill is nothing for me.)
In the garden we have a few furniture to sit in and enjoy the view, which I fell in love at first sight!!! Especially that sheep grazed in the field, just behind the fence, and my only complain was that they never baa'd!!! They were so silence sheep that I never seen in my life, and I love to hear sheep baa:) I was told, that the field next to the garden belongs to a nearer farm, and they change sheep and kettles grazing, so other guests can meet bigger friends behind the fence. I really miss that view, which is visible from the living room and bedroom, too. I just loved to drink my coffee in the sitting area and enjoy my holiday, also, when sometimes I popped into the hot tub to relax.
The kitchen was fully equipped, I used to cook a lot during my holidays, and I found everything I needed to do that. Big fridge/freezer, which is a must for me for 2 weeks. From the en-suite bathroom I missed a little step to the shower cube (it is a bit higher from the floor) and also a suction cap bath handle would come handy. But I have seen that it can be a rather fresh undertaking, and the owners continuously developed the place. So I am sure that the cottage is more equipped now. With the bath we have to wait for a while for hot water, as it works by green energy. Which is a bit uncomfortable from one hand (especially if it's winter or colder months), but again very likeable from environmental aspect.
From the cottage I reached the Snowdonia National Park very easily, and because it is sitting in the middle of North-Wales, so we can get anywhere from here to discover the north of the country. There are National Trust sites, castles, waterfalls, lakes within an hour drive, as well, as we can drive through the mountains to see the Snowdon summit or get to Portmeirion. Llandrillo is the closest village with walking paths, small shop and pubs to eat.
I had the ever best holiday there, I was able to visit many attractions, castles, ruins, villages, gardens, waterfalls, and even when I had to drive a bit further, I enjoyed every moment of that. After the potholed, busy, smoggy and noisy London roads to drive on perfect conditioned, curvy, scenic country roads in clear and fresh mountain air was a real pleasure!!! I was happy even simple to joyride, if others behind me let me to do:D And many times just stopped on the roadside to take pictures and enjoy the scenic view.
All in one, I can only recommend this cottage, it is a piece of joy, harmony and peace. A perfect place to hide from the hustle and bustle, and have a total relaxation.
