  • "A great cottage with beautiful views."

  • "A lovely little cottage in a magical place, we all realy enjoyed staying here, the views, walking and wildlife are spectacula and without dought it was one of the best weeks holiday we've had."

One thing I would say is the shower screen needs replacing as it doesn't stop water from leaving the shower and ending up in the kitchen. We all used it with the seal facing the shower but it just doesn't work anymore.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We invite guests to let us know as soon as they find a problem so we can resolve the matter as soon as possible. Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic week at Ty Gwen."

We took our dog and the early morning and late evening walks on the Orme were the highlight for me. Enjoyed seeing the rabbits, famous goats and the spectacular views. Also found that the walk to town via Happy Valley was worth the slight detour, especially if you reward yourself with an ice cream from the icecream parlour at the bottom!

We are so pleased that you had a great time at Ty Gwen. We are proud that it's in a lovely location with many places to explore and enjoy. Glad you enjoyed your time, and hope to see you again soon! Property Owner

  • "The cottage was in a great location for us with easy access to the Great Orme for walking."

The cottage was well equipped with everything you would need. It was very clean with a great amount of towels and loo roll provided. Very thoughtful provision of little extras for the humans and the dogs. Excellent written guidance on the house facilities and also information on the local area. The only issue was the overflowing rubbish bin outside which was abit unpleasant. We had a wonderful stay and would love to return as comfortable accomodation in a fantastic place, We love LLandudno.

Many thanks for your feedback, we're so glad that you enjoyed your time at Ty Gwen. We are aware of the issue with the bins and will address it as soon as we can. Thank you so much, and we'll hopefully see you again soon. Diolch Property Owner

  • "Deep cleaning had not been done."

Found crumbs behind the kettle. There was a set rug in the lounge that had a awful smell. We put it outside, the owners had to call, as we couldn't lock the back door. They took the carpet away with them and said they would replace it.The previous holiday maker had made a note in the book to say the rug was wet and it made the room smell. The bathroom was awful, mould around the edge of bath and around the sink.Mould on the tiles at side of toilet. The kitchen base units smelt very musty and damp.

Thank you so much for your feedback. This issue has been addressed. Property Owner

  • "Just ensure that there's enough time between changeovers - a the rug in the lounge was damp (I am assuming from cleaning) for our entire stay; to the point that we had wet socks if we walked on it."

It made the room less comfortable as we were walking in there and getting wet feet! Also I had to defrost the fridge while we were there as nothing was staying cool and the freezer door wouldn't shut properly. Possibly needs looking at replacing? Other than that it was a good place in an utterly superb location and we'd definitely come again for a short break.

  • "The cottage is lovely and was clean and comfortable, with what we expected."

It was spacious enough and dog friendly. So a big thanks to the owners. The area surrounding the cottage is beautiful: an area granted SSSI and full of wild flowers, wonderful views and lovely walks, considerable history and unusual wildlife (as well as the now famous goats) There is a but though. The road to the cottage is a devilish hill; steep with very tight corners and near the cottage very narrow too. Although many cars go up and down the road, we chose not to drive in and out of town much as it was stressful. But it could be pointed out that there is a lane to the town (takes about 20 minutes to walk down) and we chose to walk down when we went into the town and usually get a taxi back. The details should explain that there is a very steep hill with tight corners. We would have liked a radio in the kitchen.

  • "The location is stunning."

This was our second stay at this property. There was milk, Welsh cakes and wine on our arrival which were very much appreciated. The house was clean and tidy and has pretty much everything you need for a relaxing stay. A car is essential if you are not great on your feet or prefer not to walk up and down Orme. Will definitely look at going back.

Things were done to a generally high standard. The milk/tea/coffee was a lovely nice touch. The only issue we had is the shower screen isn't particularly effective, it is hard to stop water splashing on the bathroom floor.

  • "What a lovely find and we would love to come back again."

Ty Gwen has recently been refurbished and it is furnished and decorated to a high standard. Situated close to the tram halfway point, we kept fit by walking up and down the steep hill. The trams run from the end of March normally. We enjoyed some lovely walks around the Orme with our two dogs and the strong winds definitely blew away the cobwebs. It was lovely to see the wild Kashmiri goats on our walk down into town. Gwen (the owner’s dog) had left a lovely bag of treats for our two terriers Harris and Lewis. There was also a welcome hamper for the dogs filled with all sorts of essentials in case you forget to bring any items eg a lead, feeding bowls and poo bags. Very thoughtful. Us humans also had some nice welcome treats of Welsh cakes and a pint of milk in the fridge. The cottage was immaculately clean and warm and cosy. We would definitely recommend to others. Thank you Gwen

  • "Ty Gwen is a lovely holiday cottage."

The owners have obviously put a lot of thought into providing a great holiday experience, with lots of 'little' extras which we haven't had in previous holiday cottages. Our dog especially enjoyed her little treat bag! The cottage was a good size and it was nice to have a table to have meals and play games at. The beds were all extremely comfortable. There was a lovely view of Llandudno and the West Shore from the main bedroom window. We would recommend Ty Gwen to family and friends.

About the location

Conwy 4 miles, Colwyn Bay 6 miles, Snowdonia 20 miles.

Llandudno lies between two headlands, the Great Orme and the Little Orme and it is these headlands, and the town's two waterfronts, that give this tourist resort its special appeal. The town offers two superb beaches - the North Shore, with its wide promenade backed by an imposing crescent of Victorian hotels and the quieter West Shore with miles of sandy shoreline backed by sand dunes and superb views towards Anglesey. For the best views, however, you can reach the summit of the 679ft Great Orme using either the Great Orme Tramway or by taking an exciting cable car ride of over a mile. The town has an excellent selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, as well as Venue Cymru, which is North Wales' premier theatrical stage for opera, ballet, musicals, comedy and visiting orchestras, boasting a programme that is second to none - all this is just a stone's throw from the promenade. Just 4 miles away is the town of Conwy - a designated World Heritage Site. A true medieval gem, Conwy is dominated by a splendid castle and completely enclosed by its well-preserved town walls. Discover miles of sandy beaches along the North Wales coast and excellent walking and climbing in the Snowdonia National Park just 20 minutes' drive away - there's plenty to see and do!
