) The house was so warm and welcoming on our arrival and everything was spotlessly clean. Everything is provided for a comfortable stay (although we didn't feel the need to use the log burner). Milk, butter and a delicious lemon loaf were a bonus as were the fresh flowers. Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are about 10 miles to the north and Betws Y Coed (which could be described as the gateway to the Snowdonia Mountain Range) is about 12 miles west. so the location is ideal. The village pub opposite is really friendly and serves good pub food.

The house was exceptional. The 4 bedrooms one with ensuite, all had comfortable beds and gorgeous bed linen. The dining kitchen-family room was our favourite place with a lovely log burner to warm us up. The whole house was beautiful and cleaned to a very high standard, although we didn't cook in except for breakfast there was plenty of pots and pans if you wanted too. The village pub "the old stagg" served gorgeous food and also provided a take away service, so we opted to eat there, in addition a 6 minute drive out of the village was the "Black lion" the food here is outstanding. Overall we had the best winter holiday in Llys Alaw and would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting a perfect holiday. We book lots of cottages via sykes and this one was simply the best yet.

There was ample parking next to the property along with a lovely garden. Plenty to see and do within a thirty to forty minute drive. Quirky pub in the village that did a very good Sunday dinner. Well stocked village shop with a very friendly and helpful owner. All in all, adults and children had a great holiday at Llys Alaw. Just make sure you take care when driving out of the property, there is a very restricted view of the road.

The kitchen was stunning - spacious, large fridge and separate freezer and everything you needed in a kitchen was provided. The beautiful table and sofas next to the fireplace in the dining area made it our favourite hang-out room for the weekend. Upstairs was also amazing, all the bedrooms were spacious, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom and en-suite were amazing. It also had a beautiful living room, a utility room with a washing machine and a downstairs wet room. We have stayed in a few cottages but this property blew the competition out of the water! The owners have thought of everything and even left us a home made lemon drizzle cake (which I can honestly say was the nicest I’ve ever tasted!)!. Pub across the road served a lovely Sunday lunch and there was also a village shop for anything you need there. If you are after a relaxing weekend with plenty places to visit a short distance away, this is the perfect place. We would definitely (and have already) recommend it to friends.

We can highly recommend it. Spotlessly clean and cosily warm in the cold and partly snowy week we stayed. We didn't feel the need to use the log burner in the kitchen / dining room. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfy and the en suite with a walk in shower was particularly useful. The coast and mountains are easily accesible being about 30 minutes away in either direction. The Old Stag pub opposite is very friendly and serves decent pub food. In Llanrwst, 15 minutes away, we found Jones the butchers and Scilicorns the bakers to be very good. A mention too for Sykes Cottages who arranged with the owners an extra 2 days stay for us as my wife had spotted a small gap in their bookings schedule and we were able to stay a little longer.

Our family group ranged in age from 85 to 2 years young and we were all very cosy & comfortable in this beautiful, well equipped, spotlessly clean house. The owners have thought of everything and the decor is gorgeous. Our two small granddaughters were very happy with the little gifts that ‘Santa’ left for them- thank you. Llangernyw is a friendly village, in a really scenic location with a little shop & pub across the way from the house- both much appreciated. Fully deserved 5 stars. A lot of thought has gone in to design and details to ensure period features with modernisation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again soon. The dishwasher was broken so the owners left a note with a bottle of wine - a gesture well appreciated. A special feed back from in-laws who arrived from India and stayed with us at the cottage - very well thought out and maintained. Very neat, clean and tidy. The listing was 100% accurate. Even they would like to come back again ! The only little nuisance(I know this is nitpicking) is the position of toilet roll holders - they are behind you next to the cistern tank that can make it difficult to reach. My mother-in-law struggled as she’s got a shoulder problem and cannot move her arm freely.

There was nothing else we could of required. The only problem was and for us, and it was a large one.. as the garden itself is across a small access road, we could not let the children play in it alone .. the cottage is situated on a busy road junction.. and the football kept going over the fence and the children were running out after it.. children’s ages 5,2,11. Was very stressful .. ideally could do with gates at the end of the access road. That was the only problem for us, if you don’t have small children it would be fine. The property is ideally situated, close to Colwyn Bay and the North Wales coast but also within reach of the Snowdonia National Park and the Llyn Peninsula. The immediate surroundings are very quaint; the tiny village is made up of a few houses, a pub (serving good, reasonably priced food) and a small shop/post office. The cottage itself is beautifully renovated with incredible attention to detail. I have never stayed anywhere that has been so well resourced: there is an abundance of crockery, cutlery, glassware; every pot, pan, dish, jug, utensil you could need as well as the little essentials that are often forgotten e.g. matches, dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, tea towels etc. The open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area is a great place to relax in with it's huge log burner fire place. We never actually used the separate lounge as we found this room so comfortable. The bedrooms are all spacious, light and beautifully furnished and decorated with very comfortable beds. The bathroom, en-suite and wet room are all immaculate with modern showers and tiling - beautifully finished! We were very fortunate to have excellent weather for our 3 day stay and made good use of the lovely garden. There is plenty of outdoor seating and a large BBQ as well as plenty of grass for the children to play on. Finally, I must also give the extremely generous welcome pack a mention - quite incredible and much enjoyed!
