The cottage wasn't very clean. Also only hand held shower. Very disappointed and feel the listing was inaccurate which if corrected we wouldn't have booked.

  • "We had lovely getaway experience celebrating New Year in this lovely cottage."

Cottage itself very cosy, full off carefully added little touches, very good for experiencing British traditional life style. We had nice dog walks in forest near by and its very nicely situated to reach out to other interesting towns and viewpoints around. Just one point was not good for us - its absence of proper shower cabin, we are not bath people,co it did create some difficulties to us but we loved the cottage in any case.

...we didn’t want to leave. The cottage had such a warm, ‘homely’ feel and we certainly made ourselves at home! Decorated beautifully, so peaceful, so quiet and we simply relaxed and soaked up the picturesque atmosphere. It was well equipped, (especially seeing as we had a 2 year old!) and the beds were unbelievable! All three of us slept amazingly for the 3 nights! Only 40 minute drive to Chester Zoo which was a fab day out! Definitely be coming back and will definitely be recommending x

Owner made us feel very welcome. The only slight negative was lack of shower in the bathroom. We were aware of this when we booked and personally prefer showering to baths. But the cottage ticked all the other boxes so we were happy to book. And would revisit.

  • "The cottage was lovely and we had a very good time."

It was convenient for walking, and shops etc were just a short drive away. The only niggle was the dining table being a bit too wide for the space. A rectangular one might have fitted better. Entries on said there was no parking, but we were able to park 2 small cars there which was better than expected.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Woodland Cottage!"

It is a beautiful, characterful cottage that was extremely clean when we arrived. The owners are friendly and helpful and the fresh eggs and cake were a lovely touch. The cottage has everything you could possibly need for the week and a highchair, travel cot and stair gate were all set up for our arrival. It was the perfect size for our family of four and is a really family friendly cottage for those with small children. The travel cot doesn't have an extra mattress, only the one provided with the cot, so you will need to bring one if you want that extra comfort. We needed another mattress anyway so we just bought one which was no trouble at all, just something to be aware of. The fridge/freezer is also quite small so keep this in mind when doing your shopping. We still managed to get everything in that we had ordered for the week though! So easy to get a Tesco delivery for the day we arrived. The cottage is set in a great location for exploring the local attractions. We enjoyed visiting Llangollen, the Aqueduct, Blue Planet Aquarium, Horseshoe Falls and Chester Zoo. The view from the cottage is spectacular and we loved sitting in the lovely garden as well. There are woods just opposite the cottage for great dog walks. This is a fantastic cottage and we can't wait to stay again in the future!

The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed, including heating we were able to control ourselves (something we have found you don't always get in holiday cottages) We went with our two dogs and there is a wood opposite the cottage which was really convenient for quick early morning and late night walks. Goodies left for us and the dogs were appreciated, we would definitely recommend and go back ourselves, one of the better Sykes cottages we have been to.
