  • "We had a very relaxed stay at this lovely cottage which was surrounded by beautiful views through all windows."

A lovely welcome from our host on arrival with a full explanation of everything we needed to know for our stay. Would definately recommend this Cottage for a nice getaway.

  • "We had a fabulous welcome to this lovely comfortable cottage."

The owners (Sue & Graham) were extremely helpful when we forgot how to change the hot water & heating! They live close by but only came when we asked them to! The cottage was very near Offa’s Dyke Path so that we could finish the final part of the walk to Prestatyn. Views from the windows were great & we saw some fantastic sunsets. A very good cottage to in which to stay.

  • "Firstly I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to both Sue and Graham."

They honestly went above and beyond for us to stay here last minute as our previous property had let us down. Even though we'd booked from the Tuesday, we contacted Sue on the Monday just minutes after we booked, who was absolutely hectic that day with other commitments and still in the middle of a deep clean of the cottage from the previous stay to ask if we could come the night before (Monday) as we had no where to stay (our house was getting a total re wire). This was late afternoon and somehow they managed to get the cottage ready for us by 7pm. We honestly can't thank you enough! It was lovely to meet Graham, he welcomed us, showed us around and told us everything we needed to know for our stay. Secondly, we were amazed at how immaculate, spacious and homely this cottage is! The pictures don't do it justice. Never felt so comfortable in a holiday home as we did at this cottage. So relaxing and spotless! Everything you need is there and then some!! Beds are a dream to sleep in so, so comfy unlike previous places we've stayed. 2 bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs which was a great bonus with one of us physically not being too great with stairs, so no going up and down constantly throughout the day. Living room is so cosy, especially with the log burner going. Heats up everywhere so quickly! Added bonus with the one sofa being recliner too! The kitchen is lovely, we spent alot of time just sat round the table as the views from the back door and window we're lovely especially at sunset and sunrise! We loved that they're environmental friendly and provide all the bags etc needed to recycle everything as well. Great sized enclosed garden with seating which was perfect with the lovely weather we had during our stay! We can't fault the communication from Sue throughout our stay and if there ever was an emergency situation Sue & Graham are just a few yards down the lane. Fantastic stay for anyone who likes to walk and explore their surroundings. Stunning walk routes throughout the surrounding areas & a pub just up the road too! Can't wait to stay here again later this year! Thank you so much again both, we really appreciate all the hard work and effort you put in to allow us to stay earlier than booked. See you later this year!!

  • "The holiday house was excellent and I would particularly like to comment on the owners, Sue and Graham, who live further down the lane and were especially helpful when one of our pets went missing."

Sue posted on the local Facebook group and activated the village community to keep looking for our cat and even brought her back to us as soon as she was found late in the evening. We found the area very quiet and peaceful, good for cycling and walking. We found people to be very friendly and enjoyed a tranquil way of life for a week (even losing the cat had a happy ending).

  • "We have just returned from a Christmas break at the cottage and will without doubt be looking to return next year."

The location of the cottage is perfect, with stunning views and complete peace and quiet, but still being within easy access of a local pub and busy town (Ruithin). It was a perfect base for a family Christmas. We were met on arrival and a detailed handover was complete which left us informed of the facilities provided and the availability of the owners should we have any further questions. I understand the property is a new rental and the owners really have made the extra effort to ensure guests are comfortable and have everything they would need on their break. From a comfortable living room (with log fire), a modern and well equipped kitchen and extremely comfortable beds (and bedding), along with a private garden with stunning views, I am in no doubt they will be inundated with bookings from new and returning guests. We look forward to our return

About the location

Ruthin 3 miles; St Asaph 11 miles.

Llangynhafal is a pretty village set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the Vale of Clwyd, just under 3 miles from Ruthin. It has an excellent village pub, and a superb example of a 7th century, double-naved church with ornate stone carvings, which is located next to a cottage where the poet William Wordsworth used to stay. Llangynhafal is situated on the Pilgrim's Way, which stretches from Holywell to St. David’s and is still in regular use as part of the Cistercian Way covering a circular route taking in many abbeys and churches throughout Wales. Just under 3 miles to the south lies the hilltop town of Ruthin. This picturesque town has attractive half-timbered buildings, with many clustered around St Peter’s Square. Ruthin has many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park, the Offa’s Dyke path and Clocaenog Forest all close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are beautiful beaches such as those at Harlech and Abersoch, Portmeirion village, Llandudno, Anglesey, Snowdonia National Park and the historic city of Chester.
