“We had the most amazing stay at Siglen Uchaf!”

The hosts were lovely and the cottage was absolutely beautiful. Very peaceful, surrounded by animals and gorgeous scenery! Can’t wait to hopefully be back soon- we couldn’t have asked for any better.

The property

Ruthn 6.3 miles.

This stunning, detached stone built cottage is nestled with two other conversions at the end of a track, situated within the village of Llangynhafal, in close reach of the amenities of Ruthin and Denbigh.

Set in a stunning elevated location with picturesque vistas of the valley, Siglen Uchaf offers a superb base for couples seeking a romantic break to North Wales.

Internally, the cottage has been renovated to an excellent standard with underfloor heating throughout and a number of contemporary features.

The open-plan living area features a wonderful sitting area where you can relax on the sofa and watch a film from the Smart TV.

Alternatively, the snug room offers a quieter spot to curl up beside a woodburning stove and indulge in a good book. The contemporary kitchen/diner is stylishly presented, featuring a table with seating for four people, and collection of appliances to make you feel right at home.

Head up the open tread staircase with glass balustrade to reach upstairs, designed as an open mezzanine with king-size double bed and a stunning en-suite bathroom, complete with a double ended bath and walk-in shower, so you decide how to best prepare for the day.

Just outside the bedroom is a wildflower garden which is lovely in the summer.

Bi-fold doors in the dining room open into an enclosed garden and patio, offering a beautiful spot for some alfresco dining before enjoying a relaxing soak in the private hot tub.

Set within a working farm you will get to see livestock including horses, alpacas, peacocks and sheep to name just a few.

Also located on the farm is an equestrian centre where horse riding lessons and pony trekking are available.

The farm is within the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is adjacent to extensive parkland suitable for walking and mountain biking straight from the property.

It is less than a mile walk to the Offa’s Dyke Path.

Both Ruthin and Denbigh are a short drive away and offer a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants to try, plus be sure to visit the iconic Denbigh castle, a mighty fortress which evokes the drama of medieval warfare.

Further afield, consider exploring the breath taking Snowdonia National Park with its picturesque landscapes, stunning lakes and idyllic picnic spots.Siglen Uchaf is a high grade cottage resting in a picturesque location.

About the location

LLANGYNHAFAL

Ruthin 3 miles; St Asaph 11 miles.

Llangynhafal is a pretty village set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the Vale of Clwyd, just under 3 miles from Ruthin. It has an excellent village pub, and a superb example of a 7th century, double-naved church with ornate stone carvings, which is located next to a cottage where the poet William Wordsworth used to stay. Llangynhafal is situated on the Pilgrim's Way, which stretches from Holywell to St. David’s and is still in regular use as part of the Cistercian Way covering a circular route taking in many abbeys and churches throughout Wales. Just under 3 miles to the south lies the hilltop town of Ruthin. This picturesque town has attractive half-timbered buildings, with many clustered around St Peter’s Square. Ruthin has many interesting shops and buildings, whilst the Nant Clwyd House (the oldest timber frame in Wales), Ruthin Gaol and Ruthin Craft Centre, which houses work by internationally recognised artists and craftspeople, are also worth a visit. Beautiful countryside is on Ruthin’s doorstep with Lake Brenig, Moel Famau Country Park, the Offa’s Dyke path and Clocaenog Forest all close by. Further afield, but still within easy touring distance, are beautiful beaches such as those at Harlech and Abersoch, Portmeirion village, Llandudno, Anglesey, Snowdonia National Park and the historic city of Chester.
