Great courtyard with benches and BBQ for the 4 cottages to use. The owners were fantastic and couldn’t do enough to help us enjoy our stay. Could do with a blind in the bedroom though. As it’s a roof window the sun shines directly in at you a wakes you at first light.

  • "The property is in a lovely location, and has all the required items and facilities that made it a comfortable stay."

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because in the up stairs bedroom, there are two skylight windows, one is a velux type which has a built in blind, but the other non velux sky light hasn’t. This made it quite uncomfortable during the sunny mornings. We had to use sticky tape and some bin bags to cover it up

  • "The cottage is exactly what I was looking for."

Fantastic location for exploring the peninsula. Lovely and remote, surrounded by fields and some superb sunsets. Good parking. Definitely need own transport as there is no local public transport. The lane from the road is fairly rough though easily passable with a "normal" car, with care. There was everything I needed for my 2 week stay. Great broadband, good TV, all the kitchen equipment I needed. The owners were very friendly and provided some great advice on places to visit. The only improvement would be the mattresses and quilts / pillows, which were a bit dated.

He has had a previous slight stroke. The drying of 3 sets of towels was difficult but the fact that sets of towels were different colours was a great help to us. My husband has some dementia and short term memory loss, so different coloured was a great help. I wish that all hotels,B&Bs and self catering would think about this. It makes such a difference. Thank you.

  • "The meet and greet was lovely and the people were so warm and friendly."

The views were beautiful. I did book the cottage because of the play park and the cottage garden however these things were pretty unusable really. The play area in disarray and the cottage garden nothing like as described. The cottage felt a little unloved and needs updating. It was good however for the area and the stunning surroundings with lots around the area short drives away. If you are a large extended family and want somewhere to go with a large courtyard in separate cottages at a reasonable price it would be ideal. It was a little claustraphobic for 4 of us in the damp weather. If it had been sunny it would have been a great base however I didn’t book it for the sunshine (as we are in the UK). If you are lucky enough to get the weather it’s a good base and three stars is fair for the views alone but it is a little rustic.

  • "We booked this last minute as we need a little break away from everything."

Lovely warm welcome on arrival guided to cottage. Beautiful cottage small but had everything we needed and we really loved our stay. Lovely walks for dogs around the area. Lots of beautiful views and breath taking surroundings. Was very pleased with our last minute escape. Quiet and tranquil and relaxing what more can you ask for. My 7 year old loved that there were bikes on the yard at her disposal and a park round the back of cottages. She loved the little lambs in the field opposite and went most mornings to say hello. Really would reccomend this cottage. If taking dogs you must not leave them in the property unattended it says in the book. So just be mindful that if you want to plan activities you either will plan them dog friendly or get family to look after your animals if you want a different type of holiday eating out ect. Some nice local dog friendly eating places local though. Just be mindful of this being a small barrier, but really depends on what you are wanting from your break.

Everything we needed for self catering was available. My son especially enjoyed the collection of bikes available and the children's play area. The location is rural, surrounded by fields and with views down to the sea in the distance. It is well placed for exploring the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia. The owners were friendly and helpful, and even thought to offer us a bath for our baby as our cottage only had a shower. We would definitely visit again.

  • "Bwthyn yr Onnen (Ash Cottage) Pwlheli is well positioned as a base for North Wales."

Facilities are generally good with room for kids to play on site and bikes provided. That said 10 plus years on from the initial conversion, the fixtures and fittings are now getting a little worn. A minimal refurbishment would elevate the cottages back to full fitness. Beware anyone over 5ft tall using the upstairs bedroom though, as ceilings are low.

  • "This cottage is beginning to look somewhat tired."

The floor was rather dirty (it needed a wash), and the mattress on the double bed definitely needs to be replaced. The crockery is dishwasher-worn, with breakages that have not been replaced (e.g. only one breakfast bowl) and a random collection of cutlery. The bed linen is getting a bit old and the towels are thin and on the small side. There was an issue with occupants in another cottage and although we and some others raised it with the owners, they did nothing to resolve it. We had to resolve it (amicably) between ourselves. The contrast with the cottage we are now in (we had booked elsewhere for a second week) is very noticeable (this new cottage is very clean, up to date, and everything here is of a very high quality). Both cottages have 4 'ticks' and yet the difference is very noticeable.

  • "Excellent hosts the only issue was the shower head but my husband sorted that out but would recommend a replacement."

The only other suggestion would be to have a dryer on hand as when it is raining I could not dry my grandsons clothes adequately because as you know all 4 yet olds live the puddles and there were plenty of them to keep him entertained

Cottage was very quaint, clean and had all modern amenities, it was a little bit tired and needed a bit of minor attention but this was not detrimental to a great holiday in this part of Wales. The owners left milk and teabags and greeted us when we arrived. Small field was a bonus when taking the dog for a morning and evening walk after walking on beaches or in Snowdonia Park during the day .

Warm greeting and loads of info regarding the local area. Comfortable and well equipped the cottage had all we needed plus accommodated our two Border Collies. Had fun exploring and walking especially the high coastal headlands in the mist and strong winds and our trip to Anglesey. However disappointed that local pubs and cafes were on limited service or closed until Easter not supporting the local economy. This said we had a great break on our first stay on the coastal side of Snowdon.
