The TV aerial connection was broken so wasn't able to watch it, this wasn't an issue for us as wasn't planning to watch, there seems to be very little slack on the cable so any slight movement of the TV and the aerial comes out,other than that the property was good

Proper instructions for using the TV are essential. It’s such a shame though that the pub, which is very friendly, no longer serves food.

"We loved our stay at the cottage, so cosy and comfortable, it’s not a huge space but it was just fine for 2 adults 1 child and a dog."
Facilities wise it had everything we needed including tea coffee sugar salt and pepper, plenty of pots and pans too. Beds were really comfortable, plenty of towels provided and very clean throughout.
We would definitely stay again.

"A lovely, characterful cottage in a pretty village."
We had everything we needed and the cottage was perfectly placed for walking the Wales coast path. The Lleyn Peninsula was utterly beautiful and we enjoyed a sea swim every day, on a different beach each time.

"The property is well equipped."
The bed so comfy. Was nice to have the little patio area at the front. The house does smell of damp when you first walk in, but after 5 mins you don't notice it. Was a good base to travel around the peninsular.

"On the email with instructions about arrival you could put that the property has a designated parking space in the car park."
This reassurance is only currently accessible once one has parked and entered the property and read the info in the folder. There is a sign at the entrance to the car park saying that it is private and for designated users only. So I was anxious about whether I was allowed to park there, until I took a chance and then later read the folder. Maybe also you could provide a laminated card to put in the windscreen so locals know that the car belongs to a guest at the property? Or does no one monitor who parks there? Thank you for leaving fresh milk. That was much appreciated.

"Generally good."
Cottage was a bit damp and musty on arrival..ok once heating estabished.Also found difficulty switching on water, lights and so on till we discovered anonymous instruction book only later. Main reason for choice was proximity to Y Fic serving food only to find they had stopped food some time ago.

"When we arrived at the cottage and opened the door we were met with the very strong smell of damp coupled with the strong smell of air freshener."
Our children had 5 separate holidays cancelled over the course of Covid which was no ones fault but this holiday meant so much to them. They didn’t complain to us about the smell otherwise we would have immediately left! but their twin room was actually the worst. There was a sagging ceiling with yellow stains above where the drawers are and the smell of damp was truly overpowering. The lounge too was very smelly with black mould stains up the wall behind the tv. We felt unable to put anything in the cupboards draws or wardrobes as they were all very pungent. We managed to stay for 6 out of the seven nights we stayed out of the house for as much of the day as we could, but on the 5th day it finally it got too much and affected our chests and so we agreed with the children and we left early the next morning. We complained to Sykes who said had contacted the owners and they asked if we had any photos as evidence?? And when we said no they never got back to us! In my mind us having no photos should make no difference we book EVERY holiday we go on with Sykes! Never have we complained before. Never have we had reason to either! We just wanted them to visit the property themselves and address the 4 rating until the health & hygiene standard of the property was brought up to scratch but sadly we had no further response. We felt that to be very upsetting and unacceptable. I am afraid that the owners must know there is a damp problem as their are cheap plastic dehumidifier units in the twin room and the lounge, aside from the obvious sagging ceiling and black mould so to allow people to go to the house without sorting the issue in so unfair on all their guests. Please between you address the problem before someone else visits as it’s really awful to have your holiday ruined especially after all everyone’s been through. Thanks
We appreciate the time taken for you to leave your feedback. We are sorry that you did not raise any concerns during your stay so that these could have been investigated at the time. This has now been done. Unfortunately the house was affected by damage to the neighbour's roof during winter storms. Full external remedial work has been carried out to resolve this but due to the various lockdowns, repair to some internal damage has been delayed and will be completed as soon as possible. The property could not be occupied during a large part of the pandemic but we endeavoured to keep the house aired and freshened. Having stayed in the property ourselves we are confident in letting it.

The holiday home was cosy and tastefully decorated. Homely and well equipped. Chilly on arrival but warmed up after using the lovely log burner and occasionally the electric heaters. It is well located for the beautiful Lynn peninsula.

"I was dissapointed that there was no where to let the dog out other than a tiny garden with slate rather than grass."
Although the cottage was dog friendly the area around was not. The only place she could run was in the mountain area or a car journey away.
Thank you for your feedback. The village benefits from several footpaths and a bridle path, all easily accessed by foot. We are so sorry that you were unable to locate them during your stay. The Llithfaen Heritage Trails on the Tafarn y Fic community website is a great place to get inspiration for local walks. There are also books, maps and information on nearby walks inside the cottage.

We particularly liked some of the ‘cottagey’ features that had been incorporated. Another important factor for us, the bed was very comfortable. It is also ideally located for dicovering the Lleyn. We will definitely return.

"We book Pen Y Groes back in October 2018 having looked forward to our hoilday we were so disappointed when we arrived on the cottage."
The property is situated on a very busy road we had only been there a short time and the constant flow of cars and buses passing the cottage was a hugh shock. Having taken our dog who was totatally petrified to go out into the garden at the front, the bench also in the front garden was nothing like the picture when we booked it, should have been white!!! . We felt the pictures were very deceiving so much smaller inside and out the expected.
The only views are from the bedrooms unless you like to look at the end of a gable end wall opposite of someones house and the stop sign whilst sat in the front garden!!!
We couldnt stay in this property and had to find another property and pay for!!! which we did thankfully was amazing.
Would recommend for anyone to always check on the location of any property we feel that the road should be mentioned which it wasnt shown on the picture when we booked it, but it is now!! Pictures been retaken!!!!
We understand that at the time of your arrival there was an unusually high level of traffic as a result of a traffic collision causing diversions through the village. It is such a shame that this was your first impression of what is usually such a peaceful location. We are happy that the size and location are accurately represented. It is unfortunate that the cottage was not right for your needs and we are pleased that we were able to provide some reimbursement.

"The information about our chosen location was good and gave a general overview of what we could expect once we got there."
We didn't experience any problems with the cottage, and all the facilities were of a high standard and in excellent working order, with clear instructions given. The local people were really welcoming and friendly, with a lovely community run shop next door to the cottage that everything we needed, including warm croissants for our breakfast!

"A very small cottage not for two couples."
Badly fitting sliding door into the minute shower room no privacy, sitting on the toilet you could see into the main bedroom!! The basin was so small you could not lean over it. No cupboard in 2nd bedroom 5 coathangars and no hairdryer. A busy road, corner cottage with bus stop right outside the house. There is a small slated patio area with a rusty double seat on one side and recycling bins on the other. The views are lovely but you need to step out the gate to enjoy it. No peace because it’s noisy with traffic! However, it was clean, well equipped, comfortable beds and quite central for getting around. I am not in the habit of complaining but I should have done more research. Will know for next time!
The owners were sorry to hear you didn't fully enjoy your stay but are pleased you found the cottage clean, comfortable and well equipped. The housekeeping points will be attended to. The owners are disappointed how the bench has weathered and will also be attending to that. The village location provides easy access for the shop, local pub and exploring the Llyn. The cottage is on a side road and traffic tends not to be disruptive but by its nature the village centre doesn't offer complete seclusion.

"We found Pen Y Groes clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable and the cottage has a very good shower."
Pen Y Groes is ideally situated for exploring the Llyn area, we discovered beaches and enjoyed some great walks.
However, the cottage has a problem with damp and we discovered black mould present on the fireplace wall behind the chest of drawers. This caused issues for my mum, who has copd and resulted in a trip to the doctor. The owner should look to rectify this as it is detrimental to health, as well as their property.

"Beautiful interior design, very clever use of space, the kitchen is really well equipped and the sitting room is very comfortable, and cosy with the log fire going."
Bedrooms lack enough storage for clothes, but as only two of us we used the spare as well! The bed was very comfortable, slept extremely well. Shower room is tiny, but large cupboard has room for all toiletry essentials, and the actual shower was excellent. Would be useful to have something to dry damp things on especially if you've been swimming or walking in the rain etc, but as we only needed to dry our daily towels we hung them over the bannisters. I wouldn't recommend it for four adults because there's no second toilet, and limited clothes storage. But it was great for us, and we liked the location very much too. Community shop next door has good stock and friendly service, and you can reach every area of the Llyn very easily. Information packs very helpful - and a friendly text when we arrived was a charming welcome! A really good cottage, well designed and maintained. We'd certainly book with Menai again.

"Cottage was well located for exploring the area."
Inside it was cosy and comfortable, with good views from the upstairs rooms. Internet was speedy and the cottage featured everything one might need.
Note that the bathroom and shower are ultra compact so some maneouvreability is needed to navigate them.
The kitchen could have done with a little more storage space, but other than that the place is perfect. There is so much to do locally that we barely scratched the surface in a week.
