  • "I read the reviews and would say it is what it is, Its roomy, functional and well suited for our purpose."

If you were planning to stay in all the time - then you might be disappointed - but if its a base for activity then it was good for us. There were comments about car doors closing - and its correct - but car doors close on any street it was no more intrusive than that - and you have the confidence that its a golf clubs car park so you expect it. People do walk past the front the door - but these are not groups of rowdy teenagers -these are 'mature' golfers - I'm not sure of the issue. Like many properties its not going to win design awards - but it was absolutely fine for our purposes. Depending on the website booked through ( i went through expedia and was redirected to sykes cottages) - it limits the place to one dog - we asked and they accepted both our fairly large dogs (Italian Spinones).

  • "Sorry this property wasn't for us."

We noticed during our stay that the pictures on this property changed showing the outside of the property which is listed as a bungalow, in reality it was once the club stewards accommodation. Every morning we were woken by cars on the car park closing doors and boots. The property needs a bit of TLC and the garden needs a good tidy.

The kitchen is well equipped and the outside area was very useful. It is set next to a golf club but this wasn’t a problem, in fact, the restaurant and bar were a bonus. The owners and staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful, especially Jackie and also Lee, the chef, great food and nothing was too much trouble for him. The bungalow has easy access to lovely walks and beaches. Perfect place for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Wow! This break we have experienced has been the most comfortable and relaxing few days. The beds and the sofa are so comfortable, its home from home. On arrival we were greeted by smiling happy and friendly owners and staff of the property and golf club. The homemade scones were a wonderful touch to our arrival. The food and service from the club were first class. Love the atmosphere. It's a beautiful area with plenty to do and with the town just a couple of minutes away you need for nothing. We highly recommend this property to anyone. Perfect!!!

The bungalow is equipped with everything you need. Two of us stayed for a week with our little terrier dog Lou Lou, she loved it too.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Fairways."

Great location for the beach and there are shops and supermarket nearby. The apartment was a nice size for the 3 of us and there was a lovely garden area at the back. There was a couple of things missing from the kitchen but Debbie was able to supply them really quickly. The only downside was the floors looked like they could do with a deep clean.

  • "On arriving at Fairways the front door was facing the clubhouse with an alleyway in which the golfers used which was very noisy also cameras on the club house pointing right into the back garden with no privacy at all."

the garden furniture was full of bird poo and was unable to sit on. of a morning at 6ish you could hear tractors collecting sand for the bunkers on the golf course. the biggest problem in the cottage was no freezer which there was room for even a table top one. two clocks were not working due to batteries which we replaced and also table light bulbs not working. We left mid week and stripping the beds the under sheets were stained which was not our stains. overall the beds were quite comfortable. We have been in lots of Sykes cottages but must rate this one of the worst. The bedrooms also faced a carpark which was full most of the time. Only for us loosing our money we would have come straight back home. The weather was good so we did go out most days we were there which was a bonus. .

Thank you for your feedback. It is a shame that you did not contact me during your stay( as requested when we arranged the key collection) as the issues raised could have been dealt with immediately. The camera on the clubhouse in question does not point into the garden, it is for security purposes around the clubhouse and Fairways itself. The golfers do use the side doors to the clubhouse but only to collect their clubs and at present only 3 people are allowed in at any one time due to covid rules. The back garden and furniture is cleared of leaves and cleaned every time new guests arrive, maybe the said bird dirt happened after the clean. I have contacted the greenkeepers and they will not be collecting the sand until late morning/afternoon in future. Thank you for mentioning the clocks and the mattress protectors, I will pass this onto the cleaner. Property Owner

  • "We didn't think it was as clean as it might have been, particularly the floors."

The "fridge/freezer" was in fact just a fridge with a very small freezer compartment within and one fridge shelf was missing - difficult to store very much. Bedroom curtains were very thin and flimsy and there was a very bright security light shining through from the golf club car park so it was almost like daylight all night ! A new shower cubicle had replaced the bath, which was OK but there was nowhere to put soap/shampoo/etc anywhere except on the floor - very inconvenient just for the sake of a soap dish ! There was some daytime noise due to proximity of the golf club but, surprisingly, it was quiet at night despite the outside bar and restaurant behind. There was no landline and the mobile signal was intermittent but the wifi was excellent and so was the TV system with Amazon Prime and Netflix both installed.

  • "The lemon cake on arrival was a welcome addition."

You can never go wrong with cake! The description is very good but for some reason we were still a bit shocked we were part of the golf course. The only negative parts were the golf course club house door slamming but it was only between about 9am and 6pm so didn't impact our sleep. The 2nd issue was the food but this is more of a covid issue - we were looking forward to having our breakfast at the club house and the odd evening meal but due to covid the food was limited and hours cut. We would definitely come back again if going to North Wales

Lovely little private back garden space, loads of parking space to choose from (it's the golf club car park) and well supplied with towels, linen, kitchen utensils (even a very nice cake to welcome us). (It does look quite odd from outside - next to a golf club house and resembling a cuboid office. But inside it's fine).

  • "I spoke to the Owner of the property before we were due to go regarding parking because my husband is registered disabled he has COPD and mobility issues."

He is unable to walk very far and has to use 2 walking sticks. She told us we could park anywhere in the car park but there was a designated car space immediately outside the property which did have in huge letters NO PARKING. One day we had only gone out for a short while we came back and couldn't park the car in that spot. The car park was full. I phoned the owner who came with another lady who had parked there as well and apologized saying there was a big Golf tournament on plus a funeral. Now I respect all funerals but I didnt like being made to feel guilty I was complaining. Its no excuse to parking in a designated car space for that property. I was told it doesn't really happen. The next day we went out again and we couldn't park again due to some one parking a Golf buggy in the same designated space. I phoned the Owner again who had it removed straight away. During our stay we noticed on occasions the Golf club car park does indeed get quite full. Although there is room out side on the road to park. I should imagine in the high summer season the car park would get really full too. There was another two times I had to phone the Owner because on arrival there was no internet connection and the power went of in the property on the Friday morning . Both were rectified very soon by the Owner who was really nice and very friendly and very welcoming. A lovely Lady. We liked the property very much. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable and had all we needed. We would very much like to book again to stay in this property but with the parking issues especially if your Disabled. Unfortunately we will not book again.

Thank you for your feedback. The property does have its own car parking space and access to a large car park nearby. Property Owner

  • "There are many good things to say about Fairways and these are our observations: 1."

Guests should be aware that the bungalow is immediately adjacent to the golf clubhouse and whilst the golfers are quiet they do walk past your front door to get to their changing rooms. There is no late night noise. Guests are free to use the clubhouse bar and restaurant, the food is the usual golf club fare. I cannot speak for the course but it is in a good setting and looks well maintained 2. There is no wardrobe in the twin room and no room to install one. A second wardrobe could be put in the main bedroom. 3. The super king size bed in the main bedroom is very comfortable and the room spacious. The lounge is also comfortable and spacious. 4. In the kitchen there is no freezer and no frozen food compartment in the fridge. We stay in many holiday cottages and there seems to be an assumption that guests will either eat out or bring in takeaways or ready meals. The pots and pans are sufficient but otherwise if you wish to cook a meal from scratch you will need to bring everything, from a sharp knife to salt and pepper. Remember also to bring fresh milk and immediate provisions as there is no convenience store within walking distance. A big Tesco, Aldi and Lidl are within 5 minutes drive. 5. The garden is small but secure and the grass is artificial, it took our dog a little while to get used to it! There is a very good walk down the public footpath which runs immediately next to the bungalow. We enjoyed our stay and you will too if you factor in the above.

For those with dogs or just wanting a walk , there is a a cycle/footpath within yards of the bungalow leading to other footpaths [turn left at front door and follow path] The bungalow is also within a few miles of Rhyl/Towyn/Dyserth/St Asaph ect. Unlike the photo of the living room, there were two couches, one the same as photo and another comfortable high back one which I think is better than the two chairs. Beds are very comfortable. There is also free "wi fi" at the bungalow Debbie the owner also left a "welcome" cake which didn`t last long! [Thanks Debbie] And lastly, for those with dogs or messy children, there is a vacuum cleaner if one wishes to use it.
