The owners had thought of many smaller things like providing, hand soap, shower gel, washing up liquid, dish cloths, bin bags and many other little things that you would normally need to bring or buy once there. It was a great base with easy access to Conwy Castle, Llandudno etc. We would definitely recommend this holiday let.

One point I would like to mention is the creaky stairs you had to negociate to use the toilet at night. They are steep and because the handrail is so low you are leaning forward as you go down, I feel the rail would be better placed a little higher on the opposite wall

The property is well maintained and well stocked for four guests. It was very cosy and warm the furniture comfy as were the beds. the lovely couple who own the cottage left us a box of chocolates and some fizz which was a lovely gesture. There is only parking for one vehicle but you can park on the main road. We really enjoyed our stay at Shamrock Cottage and would definitely recommend it. The nearest pub is Castle View it has lovely staff , great beer and the Sunday roast is fab.

Vanessa found a recommendation for a dog sitter which worked out really well while we went out for a meal with family members who live locally. And then I left a hat behind and Vanessa got in touch to let me know and got it back to me. This is an old terraced house and sound travels through the walls. There were fireworks which made our dog bark when we first arrived and the neighbours were quick to comment.

On arrival the cottage is really welcoming and the little touches (biscuits for us and our dog, dog bowls, poo bags) were much appreciated. It is situated in a quiet lane and well placed for visiting the local area. The nearest supermarket is a Co-op about a mile away. There is a number of retail parks very close by with all well known outlets and supermarkets. The neighbours seemed very friendly. The bathroom and kitchen are well equipped with everything necessary. The beds are very comfy which for us is a must and there was more than enough storage space for clothes. Wi-Fi is fast. The whitewashed back yard is very pretty with lovely planting boxes of summer flowers. Note that the bathroom and toilet are downstairs and that the stairs are fairly steep. Vanessa, the owner, is very friendly and communicative via WhatsApp and is happy to help in any way. We had a lovely week in a lovely place. Thank you Vanessa

I particularly liked the full size freezer, as having two dogs, we tend to stock up with M&S food to freeze and eat at our property in the evening. There is a lovely private yard at the back perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine and a good book. The property is located on a quiet back street yet is ideal for access to the local bus service (just a minute around the corner) and the coastal path is just 10 minutes walk away which takes you into Conwy or to Llandudno. The local pub "The Castle View" is about 10 minutes away with a lovely view of Conwy castle. They welcome dogs and the locals are very friendly. A useful Co-op is next door. The owners of the property very kindly left a welcome pack on arrival of Welsh goodies and were very friendly and approachable when asked for local information/areas of interest. This is a gem of a property and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here and we will return again.

We've been able to get into Conwy and discover more history. We recommend visitors take the opportunity to have a good look around the interesting town and its surrounds. Plenty of eating establishments here to suit all tastes. If you are able to take the opportunity to do the town walls walk - some of it has gone but you can do a complete circuit with a bit at street level - wonderful views. Also we did get to visit the RSPB reserve and walk around the main circuit. This cottage is a good base for all such activities. Thank you.

The bath is old and lacking a safety mat. Apart from that the cottage is comfortable and cosy.

Thank you for your comments, we are delighted that you found the cottage to be comfortable and cosy, you are so right, especially with the log burner in the sitting room. Deganwy is a quiet village and if guests bring more than one car they typically have no problem parking one car on roadside at the top of the lane. Thank you for the suggestion about the bath mat, we have now purchased one. Property Owner

Offering a peaceful retreat in Deganwy, Shamrock Cottage is a wonderful hidden gem, located away from the hustle and bustle whilst remaining within reach of a plethora of activities.

Whether you're looking for a seaside adventure or a couple enjoying a coastal break to wind down, this property offers a beautiful interior to return to each stay.

Experience a relaxing evening within the sitting room which rests at the front of the house, offering you a first glimpse of the tranquil grey, blue and white colour palette that runs throughout the property, echoing the waters not far away; watch a film on the Smart TV, settle on the sofa with a book, or simply enjoy a conversation together with a glass of wine while the woodburning stove roars in the background.

Gather in the morning around the table in the dining room, home to delightful decor and a marvellous, antique, cabinet and discuss over breakfast where you want to visit during the day ahead.

Drenched in natural light from the opaque roof, the kitchen is a serene spot where you can cook up a treat making use of the array of quality appliances, including a gas oven and gas hob, fridge/freezer, and a breakfast bar to perch or work at while the food simmers.

Delight in some alfresco dining in the enclosed, paved courtyard in summer, when the weather is on your side, and let the dogs stretch their legs.

Completing the ground floor is the lovely bathroom, where a bath with a shower over offers a wonderful place to freshen up each day.

Head upstairs to find the two spacious, welcoming bedrooms, both enjoying a light, bright interior with rustic, original wooden floorboards; choose from either the king bedroom, or the twin room, with the latter able to become a king-size bedroom on request thanks to its zip/Iink feature, accommodating different party types.

Head into Deganwy and sample the variety of individual cafés, pubs and bars offering the perfect pit-stops between activities, before going down to Deganwy Beach which is completely dog-friendly all year and begin a walk along the Wales Coast Path leading to Llandudno's Great Orme and the home of the now famous Goats of Llandudno.

Visit Conwy with its Castle which dates from the 13th-century, marvel at The Smallest House In Great Britain, independent shops or take a boat ride along the River Conwy, go crabbing of the jetty or have an ice cream from the famous Parisella's ice cream shop.

About the location

DEGANWY

Conwy 2 miles; Llandudno 3.5 miles.

The town of Deganwy, on the banks of the River Conwy at the mouth of the Estuary, is a very popular holiday destination. Deganwy has a marina, a small selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and retains the ruins of Deganwy Castle, built in 1082 but later demolished. There is an abundance of activities to suit all interests on offer in this area; from sea fishing, walking and climbing in the Snowdonia range to enjoying the castles, mines, beaches and gardens of this beautiful stretch of the North Wales Coast. Deganwy is only a few miles from the holiday resorts of Conwy and Llandudno; Conwy boasts a medieval castle, town walls and a marina, plus winding streets which offer something for shoppers and diners alike. Llandudno was very popular during the Victorian era, and this is evident in the architecture and the very impressive promenade. The town also has a pier with family attractions, a theatre and for the more adventurous, a dry ski slope! Between Deganwy, Llandudno and Conwy, this area has so much to offer the entire family.
