  • "Had a lovely break staying at the cottage."

The location was beautiful and within short driving distances to all the beautiful beaches nearby. The house was private, well equipped and comfortable. We were able to relax because the garden was fully enclosed for our two dogs which was an important factor for us! The owner was friendly and helpful. Will highly recommend this property to friends- thank you

Everything has been thought of at the property and all done to a high standard..would love to come back (but looking at the summer prices would probably have to be back in autumn/winter again) ..the mountain views are breathtaking and sooo peaceful.. particularly enjoyed the resident buzzard and owls. Was amazing to look at the starry skies whilst soaking in the hot tub. .It's very hard to find any faults at Rhos y foel but if I had to pick one it'd be the underfloor heating which is pretty rubbish meaning we had to keep the wood burner going quite a lot ( at our cost after the initial supply ran out after first couple of days ) ...but this is more ths acceptable considering how happy we were with the place . Oh and a big thank you for the welcome pack ,it was very much appreciated..

Very clean and comfortable. The owners are very friendly. The welcome package was very much appreciated, prosecco, tea, coffee, biscuits crackers, and milk. There are friendly horses in the field at the back, the horse owners live next door, and pass twice a day. Instructions for the hot tub, and the washer dryer would have helped, but we managed. The bifolding doors and windows are quite heavy, not a negative, just want people to be aware. The cottage is remote, nearest shop we found was in Nefyn. That didn't bother us, as that's what we wanted. Great place as a base to explore, or just to have R&R, which is what we wanted. I would highly recommend.

  • "Lovely cottage with stunning views!"

We enjoyed our stay. The owners seemed friendly. Easy drive to Pwllheli, Nefyn and surrounding areas. The living room/kitchen was light and spacious, and the garden was secure for the dogs. Cooking utensils were provided, and there was a small under-counter fridge for those wanting to cook at the cottage. The sofas and beds weren’t the comfiest, but they were okay for a few nights. The bathroom was nice, although the extractor fan was temperamental. The wifi was fast and we never had any issues with it. The book provided is helpful, as it includes information about the cottage, local area, takeaways, etc. We were welcomed with a bottle of prosecco, which was a lovely touch - thank you! The hot tub was a great addition, we’re missing it already! Some instructions on how to use it may be useful, as it took us a while fiddling with the buttons to get the jets/lights on. We stayed for 4 nights/5 days and found we had to buy a lot of extras ourselves, such as toilet roll (we were provided with 2 rolls), kitchen towel, salt & pepper, oil, washing machine pods, bin bags (we were only provided with the ones in the bin already, no spares), cling film/tin foil. I would suggest those staying for a longer period to pack these with them. Bring your own towels too, as the ones provided are on the smaller size. The check out in/times aren’t good. You can’t check in until 5pm, and must check out by 9am!! Please bare in mind when booking that you will lose a day either side of your holiday, as on your first day you only get the evening, and the last day you only get a an hour or two in the morning. So, despite us booking Mon-Fri, we only got to enjoy 3 days at the cottage, which we were disappointed with.

Thanks for the nice review, just to quickly answer the check-in and check-out times, we do this to ensure that we have enough time to address any issues regarding damage in the property before our next guests arrive. We have in the past really struggled with fixing damaged property in time and find the extra few hours does really help us in getting the house ready for the next guest. We do on a regular basis allow early check-in but can't commit to a time till arrival day if we have guests on the same day. If anyone booking does want an early check-in we do ask that they please give us a text a few days before and we will confirm that morning. Thanks Sam Property Owner

  • "The property bigger than expected, and was clean enough but felt a bit unloved."

It has bags of potential, but there were a few things that would stop us from retuning; The bathroom tiles and grout needed a good scrub on the floor. The kitchen was well stocked for utilities, however the toaster leaver was broke? Furnishings were sparse and in a lot of cases broken or well worn. There were things missing I would have expected to find like a hair dryer, a bath mat, an internet router, bin bags, plus the usual foil, oil, salt, pepper etc we’ve come to expect not to be present due to lockdown. A door mat for the front door and muddy boots, and a door mat at the back for the hot tub would have been useful to stop us treading mud and water in. The front door needs a blind - it’s very exposed to the neighbouring property and parking spaces which impacts privacy. The hot tub was fine, some sand in it but had read previous reviews and expected this. There was some dark black scuffing marks on the tub which didn’t look great but didn’t impact the usage. I was also a bit surprised one morning when sat in the garden in my pjs and someone just walked through the field into the static van next to the property, I had been under the impression that it was a private location. Besides the niggles with the property, the area was mostly quiet and Nefyn itself was a beautiful place. There are great views from the cottage and a lovely walk via route 41 to Morfa Nefyn over the tops.

Thanks for your review, we do every now and again have to go into the fields to work on them or to access the fields further back to check on them. Sorry the toaster was broken on your visit, in future if anyone has a problem we would ask them to contact us during their stay so we can resolve the issues as quickly as possible. Property Owner

Surprised at the lack of basic amenities in the kitchen that we have normally had in self catering stays ie no foil, oil, salt, pepper, coffee, tea towels, casserole dishes, scourer and dishcloths these are normally all provided, thankfully spar was open on Christmas day. The managers were very friendly and approachable and responded immediately to every request, including sharing rhubarb and strawberries from their garden! The facilities and hot tub are first class. 2 minor items to note: 1) the wording in the description said: Two bedrooms: 2 x king-size, which we took to mean there are 2 bedrooms with a king sized bed in each. What there are is one bedroom with a king sized bed, and the 2nd bedroom has 2 individual single beds (see the photos). 2) the wifi worked about half the time. All told, though, it is a wonderful place, very quiet, with great views. Ask Sam, he'll tell you which mountain is Mt. Snowdon!

Location wise, this was perfect and we visited many local beaches, walks, towns, Gypsy Wood, scenic railway and a children's farm. We enjoyed the hot tub and found the kitchen facilities all in good working order. Some of the things we would of benefited from and which I feel would be useful for future guests; A corkscrew, coasters / maybe a couple of small side tables, a clock in the living area. We also noted that one of the single mattresses requires changing. We also missed a dining table as the bar stools were difficult with a toddler. The cottage does only have a shower rather than a bath so worth bearing in mind if travelling with young children and also I'd recommend taking some black out temp covers for the windows as my children were up particularly early when the sun rose. I don't want this review to sound negative as we really enjoyed the house and its location and would be happy to stay again as we'd know what to bring with us to make it work better for us a family.

The cottage was clean and tidy, with everything we needed for a weeks stay. The lounge area was comfortable and we made full use of the hot tub, even on the few rainy days we had. The kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher, large oven, fridge with a small freezer, and a washer/dryer. The drawers had plenty of crockery, pans, trays and utensils. The bedrooms and bathroom were clean and comfortable, although the mattress on the king size bed could do with replacing or flipping. We both had sore backs by the end of the week, and on stripping the bed as per Covid instructions, noticed that there was no support where the mattress had dipped. The cottage was warm and cosy with the underfloor heating. The local garage and shop in Four Crosses (Y Ffor) sells kindling and logs for the wood burner if other residents want to light the wood burner. The garden was secure for our large husky/malamute cross, with an interlinking paddock with the cottage next door giving more secure space (the other cottage was unoccupied). You can enjoy walks along the roads around the site with lovely views of the coast and local woodland. The garden is private and over looks fields and the hills of the Llyn. The owners were around and made us feel welcome, but were not intrusive. We used to live in the area, and have family still living there, so it was an ideal base to safely visit those we could. We enjoyed the beaches and walks around the Llyn Peninsular, including the estuary in Criccieth and the beaches at Morfa Nefyn and Porthdinllaen. Located centrally, we were close to Pwllheli where there are plenty of shops and local independent retailers in the surrounding areas. There are also plenty of retailers in Criccieth, Porthmadog and further afield to Caernarfon and Bangor. Overall, we had a relaxing week in the cottage and would highly recommend the cottage for a peaceful stay.

Kitchen well equipped with lots of pots and pans, even a lunchbox (we found handy for our walk up Snowdon as we’d forgotten ours). The cottage is in a good location to visit Snowdonia, and Nefyn is only a small drive away. From what we could see there weren’t any pubs in walking distance but could be wrong. The only things we could have done with that we didn’t have; - A doormat to wipe your shoes on when you come in - A welcome pack with details of local pubs, takeaways, taxis ect as WiFi not great. The underfloor heating was luxurious and the log burner was cosy. Well located for exploring. Garden is enclosed but small and great for letting dogs out safely. Didn't have any contact with owners. Would have been nice to say hello and have a brief welcome although an information sheet and jams were really useful and a nice touch. We left early for two reasons: one cannot be helped but may be something other holidayers should keep in mind when considering this cottage... - We stayed in February and the weather was generally fine in the day but overnight the winds were really strong and woke us up from the early hours. As such, we didn't feel very rested! The cottage is remote and open to the elements. Would love to stay again but only in summer. - The property is advertised as having wifi. The owners appear to have tried to sort this with a wifi booster, however it doesn't work. We booked due to the wifi as we had work commitments that relied on it. As it was not available, this was an issue and 4g is temperamental. Fine if you are not bothered about this but if it is a necessity for accompanying teenagers or people who may have to work remotely, it is an issue.

Thank you for your feedback. Regrettably, the weekend you were at our property we were on an amber weather warning, normally our customers feel very refreshed and rested after being in our property. Property Owner

The location of the cottage was lovely, as were the views of the mountains to the back of the cottage. The decor and finish was to a high standard and the private hot tub was an added bonus which we made the most of!! Dog friendly and not too far away from local beaches and towns for exploring. The bed was comfortable and the shower room very nice. My Husband and I felt very comfortable and relaxed during our time at Rhos Y Foel and wouldn’t hesitate to return! Some aspects for improvement we felt would add to the experience of the cottage are:- Blackout curtains in the master bedroom is an absolute must - in the winter months it perhaps wouldn’t be an issue but whilst we stayed, as soon as the sun started to rise before 5am(!!) the bedroom was extremely light! It made it difficult to ‘lie in’ and feel this is something that could easily be adjusted. The cottage would also benefit from a few more items of kitchenware such as a microwave, tin opener, baking trays and saucepans. It would be useful also to have a toiletries tray in the shower, and some bigger towels as these were on the small side! We understand that in the area the phone signal isn’t great and this was reflected in the WiFi which although was just useable, we ended up using our 4G if needed. Lastly, the check-in & check-out times could be more lenient - as we only stayed for 2 nights, the check in time of after 3pm meant we had less than half a day on arrival, plus only 1 more full day, as checkout was at 10am the following morning. Perhaps allowing slightly earlier check in and slightly later checkout would make it feel less of a rush especially when only spending a couple of nights there. Overall, these are things that could be changed very easily, but we throughly enjoyed our time at the cottage.

We loved the location; beaches and mountains all within easy reach. The hot tub was great and our whole family enjoyed using it. One added bonus is that the location means we got to see the milky way - the stars were amazing! We have a few suggestions to improve the cottage even further. The wi-fi did not work, we contacted the owners who informed us it was really slow and there was an extender in the house but it didn’t work and the issue was not resolved. We just used our own mobile data for the week, the mobile signal is ok. The kitchen needs more plates and some essential kitchen items such as baking trays, dishes etc. Consider blackout curtains in the main bedroom. Finally there is a washing machine but no way of drying your clothes - an inexpensive clothes horse could fix this. These things wouldn’t stop us staying again, infact our girls are asking when we are going again!

  • "This cottage is in a beautiful setting, and when I realised it was part of a camp site I was worried as I was looking for isolation."

However, there were hardly any noise and the back of the property was very private saw anyone round the back twice. The views from the back were really open and stunning. Loved having the fold back doors that were opened fully to bring the outside in. The owners were really friendly and very helpful but left you to it.
