The property

Perched on the edge of the magnificent Black Rock Sands beach, within the pretty village of Morfa Bychan, is this delightful cottage, Gerlan.

This all-ground-floor accommodation is ideal for a group of family and friends seeking a traditional Welsh coastal break, but within close reach to the rolling countryside of the Snowdonia National Park and a magnitude of pretty towns and villages including the Italianate-style Portmeirion.

After soaking up the coastal surroundings, look forward to relaxing into your evening within the refreshing interior which houses everything you could possibly need during a week-long break with loved ones.

Suitable for those with limited mobility and wheelchairs, this property is perfect for a comfortable and relaxing holiday, with level floors and wide doorways as well as an orthopaedic bed.

Venture into the sitting room where the plush seating arrangement circles around a Smart TV and is perfect for curling up with one of the books from the small selection that awaits.

Following this is the brightly decorated conservatory, where you can gather with your family to tuck into a home-cooked meal whilst admiring the pretty garden.

Fulfilling your culinary needs is the well-equipped kitchen, where the designated chef of the group will be delighted in rustling up a home-cooked meal and packing a picnic to take to the beach.

The interior is completed by three well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a double bedroom, a single bedroom and a twin bedroom which is set up with a standard single bed and a grade three mobile electric bed.

During the summer months, look forward to spending a moment or two within the garden, where a spot of alfresco dining can be enjoyed or a refreshing beverage after an action-packed day as the evening draws to a close.

Morfa Bychan is well-equipped with a shop for picking up the essentials as well as a pub serving food and a fish and chip shop for those evenings where you don’t feel like cooking.

Whilst here, be sure to stroll down to the local beach which hosts delightful sands and opportunities for swimming, as well as an 18-hole golf course to enjoy one afternoon.

Further afield attractions include hiking on the mountain peak of Snowdon, discovering the majestic castle at Harlech or exploring the breath-taking architecture within Portmeirion.

With bus links every 20-30 mins Gerlan promises to be a wonderful escape to this part of North Wales’ coast by car or public transport.

“Had a wonderful time at Gerlan.”

A member of our party was a wheelchair user and the Cottage was well laid out and suitable for our needs. The lounge had a recliner chair. The sun room was fabulous and spacious for a wheelchair to enter via the side gate and ramp. The kitchen was small and not suitable for a wheelchair user to use but adequate for an able bodied person. The bathroom was a wet room, with a shower chair and grab rails by the toilet. We did not take the wheelchair into the bathroom as our wheelchair user was able to walk a short distance, so cannot say how much room would be available with a wheelchair inside. However, the bathroom was large enough for 2 people (user and carer) to use comfortably. The toilet was a nice height for our wheelchair user but another of our party felt it was a bit low. The twin bedroom had an electric care bed (adjustable) with bed rails. It is so difficult to find good quality accommodation that meets the needs of disabled people. Gerlan provided that accommodation and ensured that all members of our party (abled bodied and disabled ) had an equally wonderful stay. We are already planning our return for next year. Thank you.
