  • "A lovely time was spent in this great cottage."

It was very comfortable and the log burner kept us warm after long walks along the canal. It was great to each have a sofa in the evenings, watching Sky tv in front of the fire after a meal cooked in a well thought out kitchen. Everything you needed was there. Lots of hot water from a great shower and the beds were so comfortable. Tracy was easy to contact by phone and she had left us a welcome pack which was very thoughtful. Overall we could not fault our stay. We have rented a lot of cottages over the last few years around the UK but this was one of the best and we will be back for a summer break soon. Thank you Tracy and Nigel for a great stay xx

Warm, comfortable and very well-equipped. Plenty of helpful hints and suggestions for places to visit and to eat out and perfect for sight seeing and walking, particularly along the canal paths. It was wonderful to see the birdlife which flocked to the feeders. A very enjoyable experience and we hope to visit again.

The owners, Tracy & Nigel, are very helpful if you need to know about the area and Meg the dog likes her tummy rubbed !. We went in July, so if you like a bit of fishing, best time is early morning or evening when the narrow boats are less frequent. Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

The cottage is super clean, spacious and one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in, we all slept extremely well. Due to the petrol crisis we had to leave our car at home and travel by train. Property owner Tracy went out of her way to accommodate us, picking us up and taking us to the station and giving us some great tips for walks and places to eat out within walking distance. We also had some fascinating conversations about the history of the cottage which is all a bit of a mystery. We hope to return with the car in the not to distant future and explore more of this lovely area.

When we stayed (June 2021) the very beautiful garden ,full of established flowerbeds, and wildlife (squirrels,Woodpeckers, Jays, finches), had a small path through the garden and led through a small gate onto the Shropshire Union Canal path where the bridge was. The cottage (complete with wood burner),felt very "homely" and if you would like a private, peaceful holiday with views, coupled with truly helpful and such accommodating owners. • "This is a lovely cottage next to the canal."

Most of the contents are new and it’s well equipped. There was plenty of hot water, the walk-in shower and the shower on the bath had decent water pressure. We didn’t try the heating as it was mid summer. The wi fi is excellent, it reaches to the patio and garden. We really enjoyed the wildlife which fed from the well stocked bird feeders. Squirrels, jays, crows, woodpeckers, pheasants, and all the usual small birds. The walk along the canal in both directions was very pleasant. A run to Wales and back along the path and across Chirk aqueduct was about 7 km. That and the Pontcysllte aqueduct were worth a visit. We walked to the Poachers for a pint and drove the short distance to the Keys where we had an excellent meal. The canal was fairly busy with boats at the weekend, much quieter during the week. The gardens were beautifully kept. There is a very handy Marks and Spencer simply food store at the petrol station on the junction with the A5. The owners were friendly but didn’t intrude. We found a welcome pint of milk and box of cakes when we arrived. The owner was also kind enough to post back to me some items I left in a wardrobe. Plenty of off road parking. We’d love to visit again and would recommend it for a relaxing holiday.

Well what a cottage - met by Tracey wonderful friendly welcome. From the moment we walked in the door the place was spotless. No worries or need about covid cleaning was very comfortable about just settling in!! Everything we wanted was catered for - the cottage itself has it all - kitchen fully equipped - the use of the garden was a plus for us to have a private setting - very comfortable bed and settee in the lounge. We had a good week of weather and found many different seating combinations to follow the sun. We wish Tracey and Nigel and all the family the very best in their adventure and to continue the good work as we would love to return again. The cottage is definitely one of our number one choices and looking forward to using it during the winter months to be cosy and use the real fire. Julie and Paul

  • "We have had a very enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful week in this comfortable, spacious and well-quipped home from home."

The owners are lovely and very helpful. They have clearly worked hard to think of everything, including the bedroom mirrors being within a hairdryer’s cable length reach of a socket (which seems to elude the owners of so many other holiday cottages we have stayed in), USB sockets in some rooms, and plenty of coat-hangers! Our son particularly enjoyed the good-sized ‘walk-in’ cupboard in the 2nd bedroom, including sitting in there to play his games. Belmont Bridge is surrounded by beautiful scenery, including the owners’ sheep, and has great outside space with lots of seating options. We enjoyed watching the local wildlife attracted by the many bird feeders, including Phil the pheasant. The cottage is in a great location, being only a few minutes from the A5 for exploring by car. It’s also fantastic having access to the canal tow path from the garden gate - we had a wonderful day’s walking and exploring without having to drive. Plus, it’s great fun watching canal boats go by, particularly when they are being driven badly! Nearby we found some great places to eat: Henlle Hall and The Poachers, Chirk, are in walking distance, and The Keys is a short drive away in St Martins. The best place though was the little tearoom at nearby Whittingdon Castle – what a find! Delicious quesadillas, chocolate cookies and chocolate cake, friendly service, great value, all enjoyed whilst sitting on the green by the castle moat, watching the ducks, swans, moorhens and baby coots. The Castle is interesting to walk round too, although it is mostly ruins. The sculptures at the British Ironworks Centre at Oswestry are worth a visit. We also hired kayaks from Llangollen (TNR Outdoors) for the day, kayaking over both the Pontcysyllte and Chirk aqueducts, to the Poachers for a pub lunch, then back to Froncysyllte / Llangollen to return the kayaks. We are already thinking of a return visit!

The owner ( Tracey) was always obliging. Any uncertainty about the house was very quickly cleared up. The house was very clean, warm and comfortable. The little welcome pack of cakes & milk was very helpful for when you arrive. For us the location was excellent - accessible to all points of the compass. Being right on the canal was a bonus being peaceful and relaxing. Being so close to the A5 was no problem at all. The only sounds we heard were the sheep, the visiting pheasants and of course the occasional "puff" from the narrow boats that glided serenely by at the end of the garden. We give the property 10 out of 10
