  • "Absolute perfection!"

This beautiful cottage is so idyllic and peaceful - something out of a fairytale. From the super modern kitchen and bathroom to the warm comfortable and incredibly inviting lounge with log burner. A place that is better than a home away from home. The cleanliness is superb and the owners made me feel so welcome. The most peaceful nights sleep I've ever had in the most comfortable bed! I will absolutely be returning.

Lots of great places to visit within half an hours drive. The owners left a cute little note on the chalkboard and some lovely Welsh cakes for our arrival. Thankyou for having us! Also three houses down is a beekeeper who makes their own wonderful honey! Delicious, we bought 4 jars!

  • "We have just returned from a fab stay at Ty Cerrig cottage."

Just a stones throw from the lovely town of Mold and close to lots of wonderful walks (Loggerheads/Moel Famau/ Nercwys Forest) it’s a great base to explore North Wales. The cottage itself was clean, well equipped & very comfortable, I highly recommend a stay here. My thanks to Mr Wilson for recommending Llangollen/Horseshoe Falls- really worth a visit when you are staying here. Happy Holidays The Smith family.

  • "Ty Cerrig is a delightful stone cottage in a beautiful village setting."

It was very comfortable and very well equipped throughout. The cottage has a lovely bathroom, with plenty of hotwater. We had a wonderful stay here and the neighbours were very friendly. Our little dog loved the little courtyard garden. Great communication from the very friendly owners and they popped around to introduce themselves. We would definitely love to come back. Great for a relaxing short stay, or to see the many beautiful places that are easily accessible from here.

  • "The cottage has a single bedroom which is ideal for a couple and it is spacious with a lovely view over the fields."

Small children might manage on the sofa bed in the same bedroom but this would offer no privacy or escape. We read a disappointing review just before we left for this short stay but fortunately we found no reason to complain in a similar way. Between June 28 - July 02 we found Ty Cerrig to be clean, tidy, with a kind welcome gift of Welsh cakes, milk and other basics in the kitchen. The water in this property was piping hot and very welcome each bath and shower time. Kitchen surfaces were clean and fresh with all appliances working as one would expect. Nercwys as a location to stay was quiet and pretty and the cottage itself was comfortable.

  • "The property was absolutely fantastic and perfect for our 2 nights away whilst visiting Chester Zoo (20 mins away)."

The cottage was very well equipped, clean, beautiful location, very comfortable bed and powerful shower (shower over bath). Being a stone cottage it got a bit chilly late evening but with the log burner alight it was warm in no time. The owner told us we could phone her to get the electric heaters turned up but we love a real fire so this was great for us. There isn't WiFi in the cottage but there was 4G. Wasn't a problem for us tho and would certainly stay here again.

  • "In a delightful village and close to lots of stunning places, however, we were very disappointed with the cottage."

It was grubby and desperately in need of a deep clean; it felt unloved. I was under the impression that deep cleaning was mandatory in properties due to the Covid crisis, this is certainly not the case at Ty Cerrig. Dirty window frames, months of dirt underneath the sideboard which could be seen when sitting on the sofa, and the bathroom floor was so grimy that we mopped it before using the bathroom. The furniture pieces were all oddments, nothing matched. No comfortable seating outside and the back of the bench was broken. The website describes the outside as a place to sit back and relax which is absolutely impossible as the furniture is a metal table and chairs, this was not conducive with being able to relax! The website also states that the cottage will accommodate up to 4 people; the outside area certainly could not accommodate four people! Cobwebs everywhere inside, cracks and flaking paint in the bedroom and dirt on plug sockets. In the lounge, the tops of pictures were filthy. The back door sill was full of detritus. There was a tiny bedside lamp in the lounge which was inadequate for the size of the room. There were two plastic dehumidifying containers full of water in the bedroom and bathroom which were unsightly. No welcome folder in the property. The shower hose bracket was fixed (not a riser rail) and is fine if you are 5 feet 7 or shorter, otherwise it's necessary to stand with bent knees to wash one's hair! Overall, a very disappointed property. It could be absolutely fabulous if more care was taken with it. I get the feeling that whoever owns this property has really lost interest in it, which is a great shame. I definitely would not stay here again!

  • "Comfortable, warm and well-appointed cottage with off-road parking in a peaceful village surrounded by sheep fields."

The only improvement that could be made to the holiday cottage would have been the addition of wi-fi (which would have been especially useful at th moment as some of the local tourist information centres were closed or had restricted access due to Covid-19). Surprising (at least to me) range of things to do and places to visit within a 25 mile radius of Nercwys: picturesque villages, bustling market towns (e.g. Mold), cities (Chester), seaside towns (Rhyl, Prestatyn, Colwyn Bay, etc.), loads of countryside walks to suit all abilities, theatres, cinemas, stately homes and gardens, loads of castles ('tho' a lot of them ruins), tourist hotspot (Llangollen, with its steam railway), and even a World Heritage Site at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal. Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, we were still able to find plenty to occupy us throughout our week's stay. Whatever sort of holiday you might want (restful/ activity-packed/ historical/ cultural/ countryside/ beach, etc.) this area seems able to offer something for everyone.

We stayed here for 4 nights over Christmas with my partner and 2 year old son. The owners have styled the house perfectly with a very comfortable sitting room with leather sofa and armchair, tv, dining table and log burner. The kitchen is kitted out perfectly to meet any needs and the bedroom upstairs is supremely comfortable with a lovely bathroom attached. Seriously one of the best beds I’ve ever slept in. The owners are highly contactable and lovely helping ensure your stay is perfect. I can’t recommend this little cottage enough and will definitely be staying again.

It's in a great location as there is lots to do within half an hour drive. It would have been useful to have some info on the recycling policy for that area, normally this type of information is in a welcome folder but there aren't one.

Great location for all day trips and the town was lovely. Would like more information regarding the public paths, once on the path the signs disappear, not sure what gates you can go through - map for walking dogs would be great. Only down side, the bed needs a proper mattress - the foam topper was far too soft. Would visit again and recommend to friends.

  • "When it said it sleeps 4 people this incorrect."

2 adults and 2 children would of been better, especially when everyone sleeps on the same room. If they want more adults maybe a sofabed downstairs would be better. Otherwise lovely cottage, shame about the spiders but what do you expect with a old cottage. But certainly would say okay for a family under age of 10.

The log burner provided a lovely atmosphere when back at the cottage after a days walking. The view was fantastic & the sofa in the bedroom was a great spot for soaking up that view. Having parking right in front of the cottage meant it was really easy to come & go with our bags. Being pet friendly was a great bonus for us as we could take our cat with us, which meant we didn’t have to rely on anyone feeding her or leaving in a battery. She spent the whole watching the sheep out of the window but for anyone with a dog too, there were plenty of footpaths right on your doorstop. A thoroughly lovely cottage which we would definitely stay in again.

Keep in mind it’s tight on parking and not too friendly neighbour. We were greeted by owners who generously let us check in early and check out late. Cottage has everything you could need however adequate amount of toilet paper (1roll for a family of 4 for 4 days) or dishwasher tablets(only one provided) would save us trip to the shops. Also no washing up liquid or back up of towels. Not for anyone with pet hair dislikes as in search of toy I moved sofa and to my horror we discovered tons of dust and fur. In general in need of deep clean (dust, cobwebs, fur inside of sofa bed). Not big things and we didn’t let it spoil our break.
