  • "The concrete beds!"

!!! if you do book this cottage please consider sleeping in a car park a night before so that you are prepared for how rock hard the beds are. i had to buy a thick duvet to try to cushion it but that didn't really do anything so in the end i slept on top of the  duvet as well leaving me with nothing as there is no spare bedding in the cottage. I cannot emphasize enough how awful the beds are. when we arrived the garden was full of dog poo which we had to clean up and the bins overflowing which sykes never contacted us back about. the cleanliness was ok but there are a lot of woodlice everywhere and the windows are filthy. Some of the appliances are NOT PAT tested!! This could be a great cottage if they sorted the beds and the rubbish out as the space is good.

  • "We had a lovely 2 week holiday in the cottage."

The coast path and beaches of the Llyn Peninsular are beautiful. The cottage has lots to recommend it and I would go back. It has all the kitchen equipment you need and the sitting rooms are comfortable. however, I would not be the first, from reading the visitors book, to say that the bed in the main bedroom does need replacing. It is uncomfortable and noisy when you turn over. The garden is covered in slate to supress the weeds but you can't just then leave it. It is now very overgrown with tall grass along all the paths and the bramble is now taking over. It just needs someone to go and spend a bit of time pulling up and cutting back. DVD player not working despite putting in new batteries. Does the ITV signal always go off at 9.30?! And no Wifi but lots of attempt has been made to get it if the yards of wiring is anything to go by. So all very fixable. And Penllech beach is so close and the coast path in either direction just great.

  • "Beds were noisy but comfy."

Large gap under front door and back garden could do with cutting back, and maybe a light in the back garden for sitting out at night. Had no WiFi as box wasn't working & new one hadn't been connected, did text owner but got no reply. The 4 of us had a brilliant week in the cottage, so quite and relaxing. The kids loved being greeted by the farm dogs every morning. Everything you needed in the cottage .

  • "We thought the property overall was beautiful."

It had everything you needed and more but, there were a few things that were a little bit disappointing. The real fire which we were really looking forward to bellowed smoke into the living room and for someone with a bad chest was not very good. The other things was the beds as there were not very comfortable and made a noise every time you move so woke me up on more than once during the week.

Some good nearby beaches but you have to travel at least 20 miles to get to any attractions.

  • "Having given top marks on all questions I must point out one glaring omission especially from a woman’s perspective, four bedrooms and not one mirror ."

Doing her hair standing by the dining room table cannot be considered hygienic but necessary to use the mirror. The main bedroom could easily accommodate a small dressing table. The cottage is clean, comfy, well equipped and situated in a lovely spot. We will definitely consider a return visit maybe next year. To anyone considering a holiday here I would say don’t hesitate but take food for the first evening meal as the shops are some distance .

  • "We had a lovely week at the cottage."

It had all that we needed bar a toilet roll! Never had to supply our own loo paper before! But the facilities were all as suggested, very spacious and comfortable and its a great location and so close to the coast. Miles from home but did very few miles once we got there.

  • "Whilst the extension part of the property was quite acceptable, the original part of the house was dated and in need of attention."

The upstairs beds were hardly fit for purpose. Our daughter having to sleep on the settee for five nights as the mattress was so uncomfortable. As for cleanliness, the property had only been superficially cleaned. There were cobwebs in the windows and under the mat covering the carpet in front of the front door was thick with dust and cobwebs. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils and crockery although there were some cracked plates . The garden at the back was not child friendly as it was all covered in grey slate and large bushes. That said, the weather was kind to us and we enjoyed our holiday in a great location but in regards to the property we didn’t have value for money. .

  • "Great location and superb accommodation especially the ground floor lounge, living room and en-suite,just 5 minutes to the best local shop, and butchers at Sarn with petrol station as well and 5 minutes to Porth Salmon for really great sea views and walks."

Found the gate opening onto the road a bit of a pain so just parked outside gate easier!!! not a problem. Local neighbors and shop very friendly and helpful. For 3 OAP's we had a lovely comfortable and restful two weeks with plenty of old memories to re-visit ,The wood burner also made the evenings very homely. Many thanks for a lovely autumn break for us.

  • "We were not informed re Covid cleaning arrival and departure changes on the cottage information The cleaners were there when we arrived FOUR OF THEM ."

THEY only left us one key so we could not open hardly any of the windows or the patio door . The place looked clean but on closer inspection there was food remains on the washing up bowl , the windows were very dirty , there was thick dust on the storage heaters and light fittings .Covid cleaning ??!! The upstairs mattresses were uncomfortable My daughter had to sleep on the downstairs sofa.Part of the shower was broken as was the chest of drawers upstairs. However the house was well equipped and everything in the kitchen was in good order.

  • "We were really pleased with the cottage."

Plenty of room for us all. Fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher everything catered for which made our stay perfect. Two bathrooms one ensuite. Good size dining table. Games, two TVs, dvd player and books. Secluded patio and bbq. Access to lovely local beaches, as well as Abersoch and Aberdaron. Would definitely book this again. Please note whilst Sykes says you can enter after 3pm it's actually 6pm because of covid19.

  • "The house situation was fine, nice and remote, with friendly neighbours."

However we do not feel we had very good value for money as: * we couldn’t watch T.V. in the living room because we couldn’t get a channel * extractor fan in the en-suite was incredibly noisy when switched on * T.V. in the dining room took an age to work out how to use * broken window in bathroom above toilet * wheelie bin was over flowing with rubbish when we arrived * hosts supplied towels but no tea towels * phoned the caretaker to shed some light on the T.V. situation, no reply

  • "The cottage is well equipped."

It would be nice if the back lounge tv was connected to a tv signal too as we mainly all squashed in the front lounge as we don’t tend to watch DVDs nightly. The cottage is quite remote so my advice would be to take some groceries for your first night and breakfast - otherwise you will have to drive over 7 miles to a Spar (in Abersoch) as we did! We never did find the beach advertised as 2 miles away but there are some lovely beaches to explore by car. We also spent a couple of days in Caernarfon, climbed Snowdon and even Llandudno is within a reasonable drive.

  • "When we arrived at the cottage (3."

45pm) we were unable to access due to the cleaners still being there. This meant we were finally able to access the cottage at 5pm. The cleanliness of the cottage was not the best and also required some maintenance I.e cracks in the wall, damp patches in bedrooms. Not value for money and would not book again.

  • "This was a deceptively spacious cottage."

It had all the facilities you could wish for. My home felt small when we got back compared to the cottage. It was very tastefully decorated inside, and had a large gated area on the side to park a car or two. There was also wi-fi which was an added bonus. Overall we would highly recommend it, very good value for money. Thank you Sykes cottages for your communications.
