  • "We had a lovely stay ."

Near to every thing we wanted to see. So nice to be up close to the farm animals. Hot tub was a bonus and we used it every day. Ioan works tirelessly and it was a real eye opener of how hard farming can be, but he loves it and always had time for a chat. We had some goodies when we arrived, thank you, and there are supermarkets in Caernarfon , just about 10/15 mins away. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "Nice place."

We really enjoyed our stay after a difficult year. It had a nice spacious room for the family to enjoy and mix. The location is not too far from Llanberis or Caenarfon. I would recommend and would stay again. The owner was also approachable and friendly. Thank you

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, the owners were friendly, available but not intrusive, our children enjoyed being shown around the farm."

Despite how busy he was, nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was warm and cosy, the beds and sofas were comfy and the hot tub well maintained with powerful jets - what more could you want for a relaxing break?! Although an ideal location for peace and tranquility it is also located within easy driving access to walking routes, a lovely beach, supermarkets and velocity. There are many more things to do listed in the cottage information folder but I can only comment on the above things that we as a young family with a dog did. My only feedback (and this is trivial, hence why we didn’t disturb the owners about it at the time, because it didn’t spoil our stay) is that the cutlery was quite small and childlike plus there was only six of each crockery items which meant the dishwasher being used half loaded or you washing up several times a day in order to have clean plates for lunch time and evening meal. We really wished we’d stayed for more than four nights because we all enjoyed our stay here and would really consider a repeat stay.

They were vey helpful talked to us about the farm and what goes on it was great. Beautiful beach very close by 5mins in the car. Well situated to explore all that North Wales has to give. I would highly recommend this cottage for a stay you will be delighted with it, everything you need is supplied. The hot tub is a welcome sight when you get back from a day of exploring, you can sit in the hot tub and chill. Will be going back for more.

The couple went out of their way to make us all comfortable. My children even got to hold a lamb in the barn. Very personal and professional at the same time. I would highly recommend staying here.

Before next season 2)Heating needs upgrading, chimney needs sweepin urgently.3.Bottom to oven to left under grill not working. 4. No real facilities nearby especially for young families. 5. Beaches nearest Nefyn. 6. Dog friendly garden centre nearby.

This review does not represent Caernarfon as we would like, or the property itself, therefore in this instance we feel the need to respond. The nearest beach is Dinas Dinlle, one of North Wales’ most beautiful beaches which is a mere 2.5 miles away from the cottage. Others near to the property include Black Rock Sands, Criccieth and Aberdesach. Some of the facilities nearby for children include Greenwood Forest Park, Gypsy Wood, Zip World, Pili Palas, Ffestiniog Railway (this list goes on and on, the full list is written in the welcome pack). The oven is in full working order and the chimney was swept at the beginning of the winter season. In the future, ensure to contact the owners if you need assistance at the property or for advice on the local area before leaving a review. Property Owner

  • "Really pleased with this cottage."

It had everything we needed and location was spot on. Close to all supermarkets and to the beach. The only thing I would note is that we could have done with a non slip mat in the shower as 2 of our party were pensioners and didn’t feel too safe on their feet whilst showering, but this is just a personal preference to ourselves and takes nothing away from this property. The hot tub was an added bonus and we really enjoyed it.

  • "Lovely cottage in a central location."

Very spacious and comfortable. We were offered to have a look round the farm. Owners very friendly. Hot tub was lovely. All very good except kitchen . Only half of the large cooker working. Only half of the toaster working, no grill at all. Literally just six of everything cutlery and crockery wise. No serving dishes or even a teapot. Utensils very bendy and of poor quality. Oven trays need replacing too.

  • "Lovely cottage to stay for a long weekend, the beds were comfy and clean and the cottage had everything we needed."

The owners rang and checked everything was ok and we had a little welcome pack on the side with Welsh cakes which was a nice gesture. We used the hot tub on our stay which was a big bonus for the cottage. I would say that the only thing that could be improved was the power of the shower. Overall we had a lovely stay at this cottage.

  • "A group booking so only speaking from my perspective (although the sentiment is shared)."

We had a wonderful stay. It's a cute cottage (I actually learned that Bwthyn is Welsh for cottage) that is perfectly located for those who want some adventures in the mountains but would like a real bed, real showers and real amenities. We were super lucky with the weather (when is North Wales EVER 30°C?) so we didn't require the washing machine or log burner but it's good to know that it's there. The location is nice and remote and provided us with some wonderful stargazing opportunities from the hot tub. The cottage is situated on a working farm so do expect the farmer to be cutting about doing Gods work. Ioan (the farmer/owner) is an absolute diamond bloke. I really enjoyed chatting with him about the area and its history, the history of his family and farming, solar power and other things. The cottage was clean and welcoming, you'll need to bring toilet roll, extra towels (for the hot tub) and a few odds like washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets (although we left a ton there for the next guests) etc. As I said, I really loved the stay and will most likely be booking it for another time of year to get a different experience of North Wales and it's incredible scenery.

The owners were really lovely and made sure we were alright ( he knocked on the door and asked if our electricity was off on our second day and he switched it back on. It never happened again during our stay). We loved the hot tub and just relaxing in the cottage. We loved the surroundings, took little stroll around neighbourhood and the adventures in beautiful North Wales!!!

  • "We have just returned from 3 nights at Bwthyn Pengwern, our holiday party consisted of 6 adults, 2 infants and one dog."

The home was more than big enough for us all and the bedrooms were homely and comfortable. The property is like a tardis and much larger inside than it appears from the outside. The hot tub and jacuzzi bath are amazing! The property is in an amazing location about 20 minutes from Anglesey and 20 minutes from Llanberis and close to a Morrisons Daily shop. The property is on a working farm and the children were overjoyed to see the sheep and cows onsite and the farm owners were lovely when we bumped into them occasionally. Amazing property, great value and would definitely return if planning a trip back to North Wales.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful review! It was a pleasure to host for you and your family. We are so glad that you had a wonderful stay with us. Looking forward to welcoming you back in the future. Regards, Ioan & Catrin. Property Owner

  • "This is a real gem of a place!"

A beautiful holiday cottage in a beautiful location. Nothing was too much trouble for the hosts and we felt as though we were home from home. Being on a farm was magical for our children and the farmer (and host) went above and beyond by letting them sit on the tractor and stroke the new lambs. It was a wonderful experience for them and for us. The hot tub was an added bonus. Immaculately clean and a relaxing way to end the day while watching the sunset. The facilities in the cottage were great and it was so nice being somewhere so peaceful, and yet also a stones throw from local beaches and days out for the kids. Thank you Ione and Catrin, we’ll be back one day soon!

The owners were delightful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. We even had the greatest opportunity to watch lambs being born which was a first for both of us and then we got to hold a day old lamb which melted our hearts! The bungalow is behind the main farm house and from the windows you get to see mountains one way and sheep the other way. Fantastic. The hot tub was also well used it's so relaxing. The only thing I would ask is that a wider range of kitchen utensils would be very beneficial. We will be back and can't wait to go again.

Amazing for us to switch off and relax. The pretty tidy garden was just as relaxing to sit in and enjoy the countryside air. The hot tub was also a big bonus to chill in. The house is spacious, comfortable and well furnished. The owner/farmer was extremely nice and helpful and gave some of his precious time to explain how the farming all works and offered us to watch feeding the calves. The kids absolutely loved every minute and we definitely would be coming back. Thanks so much.

Some stunning scenery and lovely places to visit around the area. The nearest beach is only 10 minutes away. The owners are very friendly and approachable, it was fascinating to watch the comings and goings on the farm, hearing the cows and sheep in the nearby fields.
