  • "A very comfortable cottage in a stunning location, with lots to do locally."

Warm and cosy, we had everything we needed for a great weekend. There was a minor issue with the showerhead not staying in place, but overall it was a lovely cottage.

Many thanks for your positive review. We appreciate your comments. The shower head is not longer a problem. Just a small adjustment. ☺️ Property Owner

  • "Afallon is a beautiful cottage, so full of charm, spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished with everything you could possibly want."

The location is scenic and peaceful, but only five miles from Betws-y-Coed and a great base for exploring Snowdonia. An added bonus is the lovely, friendly couple who live next door.

Thank you for your kind comments. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and of course met our kind neighbours. Thank you for booking Afallon. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage with magnificent views we really enjoyed our stay very homely and cosy especially enjoyed the log burner in the evenings ."

The village is delightful and to be able to walk to the Eagles pop in the evening was nice and sit by the fire in a bar . Local shop in the village is great and covers most things you may need you can also get a latte/cappuccino from the coffee machine which is Surprisingly good . The roads through the valley offer outstanding views with plenty of wildlife - Birds of Prey . It’s close to Betws y Coed which It’s great if you want to eat out in the evening .

Many, many thanks for your positive review and kind remarks . Delighted you enjoyed your stay and felt comfortable. The log burner is the perfect answer for a cosy evening in after a full day out in the fresh air or the walk bach from the pub. You are welcome back any time. Property Owner

  • "Another lovely stay at Afallon."

This place is a little gem that is bigger on the inside than the pictures give credit for. The temperature of the cottage stayed wonderfully consistent as temperatures raged outside, and the aspect meant we could either have sun or shade depending on how we were feeling. We used the parking space at the back for our vehicle but could easily have used it for a BBQ if we wanted to. It's easy to access the village from any number of ways, and the mountain bike trails are just a short ride away too. The neighbours (a mix of residents and family owned holiday cottage) are very friendly and helpful (a real plus). The area is very quiet and just great for a relaxing break away from the hustle of the tourist hotspots - a real haven to return to.

Thank you very much yet again for your positive review of our cottage. We are very proud that our visitors enjoy sharing our lovely haven. The perfect guests. You are welcome any time Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our week in Afallon, an ideal place to stay with our daughter, who is visiting us from Vancouver, and who loved the cottage immediately."

The cottage was very clean and all equipment in good working order. Inspite of heavy rain at times, Penmachno isn't far from Anglesey, the Lleyn and West coast, which often has better weather. After an active day, it was lovely to return to the cottage and relax. We have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property.

Thank you very much for your kind review it so positive to see guests recommending some of the many places to visit within driving distance of the cottage Property Owner

  • "We had a really great stay here."

The pictures don't really show what a great spot the house is in. The view from the bench in the front garden is over Pen Machno and the valley and is fantastic. And it's a really quiet spot. The property is on a short row of just a few houses, with fields behind and below. The kitchen was really well-equipped, with good quality pots, pans and cutlery, and is a good size, as are all the rooms. Pen Machno is a lovely village, and there are great walks in the hills. We walked on the Slate Trail to Betws y Coed, which has some stunning views. And the Eagles pub and local shop are both very friendly places. Everyone we met in the village was friendly and the place was very peaceful and quiet. We would definitely stay again, though next time with friends as there are 3 bedrooms and plenty of space.

Many thanks for your kind descriptive review of our cottage. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and visited the local amenities. You were excellent guests and we look forward to hopefully seeing you in the future. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Afallon during half term."

Instantly felt at home and was surprised at the size of the cottage, pictures do not do it justice at all. The single parking space our back was very helpful too. The kitchen was incredibly well set up with everything you need including lovely quality cutlery and sharp knives (we usually take our own). The beds were so comfy and our daughter loved her sheep room! Big sofas for lounging about on after a busy day, and the Firestick was a revelation. Excellent internet as there is no phone signal at all. Would recommend highly, a quite gem of a place that we'll hopefully come back to.

Many thanks Clare for your positive, thoughtful review. We’re very pleased you enjoyed your stay at Afallon and found everything to your satisfaction. Once again thank you for your kind words. Property Owner

  • "Thank you for a lovely stay at Afallon and our first visit to Snowdonia, it was just what we needed."

The view from the cottage is fantastic which is hard to capture in the photos on the website. The cottage is comfortable, well equipped and beautifully furnished with a small terrace at the back, which we managed to use a couple of times when the weather brightened up. It's incredibly quiet and peaceful with the only interruption being the sheep in the opposite field! The local information, maps and walks were really appreciated and we did a number of walks from Penmachno, as well as walking up Snowdon and a good circular walk starting at Llyn Crafnant. We would definitely like to return to Afallon and try out some of the other walks in the area - I feel like we just scratched the surface!

  • "The cottage was perfect."

We felt at home straight away. The kitchen was excellently equipped, we loved having netflix available. The wi-fi was very good too. The bedrooms were sweet and cosy, I loved reading in the front bedroom looking out at the countryside through the low cottage window The bathroom was lovely The layout of the hallway was lovely too Tastefully decorated throughout Even a herb garden.was prepared for us. Be nice to have a layered walled garden at the back and perhaps ivy growing along the back wall and some trees to hide the gas cylinder at the back i loved the little flowers planted within the gaps in the walls of the front wall too. Lovely neighbours, nice to open the windows and hear only sheep and lambs bleeting Lots of walks straight from the door and Penmachno village only a 10 minute walk with pub, shop and church - very quaint and nice to be based away from the touristy area of Betwys -y-coed - however, lovely. We needed an urgent car repair and would recommend Betwys-y-coed motors too
